Face it, it would be more like the last Pokemon game then Gold/Silver, unless they only keep gen. 1 and 2, then it would be a dumbed down version of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

Damn you Nintendo! I would pay you in soul but I currently owe Blizzard too much.

Oh well looks like getting a decent report card is the only way for me.

Also indecision here, stick with my favourite pokemon Feraligatr or try a different starter this time?
you read my mind

OR EVEN BETTER,
giving it a different plot.

Every single sequel since the days of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue has had the SAME EXACT PLOT.
Why not catch all the pokemon so that you can use them to bring down Team Rocket?

Or what about...

actually, the plot that they have going for now is pretty good. I mean, what other reason do you have to collect and train them? To beat everyone else? That's what the NPC's are for.

CURSE YOU NINTENDO FOR MAKING PERFECT PLOTS!!!!

That's what I was thinking, but how can you download a rom for a game that needs a touch screen? The best form of DRM, come to think of it.

Couldn't the mouse be used for that in most situations?

Anyway, to stay on topic, I'm not really interested in these. It's been a while since I bought a pokemon game, but I played through gold last year. I'm not going to buy its remake since I finished the original so recently.

Emulators can be made for everything that can play a game.
A touch screen isn't very difficult to emulate either because your entire monitor is basically a touch screen for your cursor.

Hell, DS emulators are advanced enough to use for Tool Assisted Speedruns:

EDIT: was there any reason for the games to have been remade? Or, was there any reason to have remade Red/Blue?

Holy c**p, they are still at it!? What does it take to keep this beaten-to-death horse (that has been resurrected like....7 times?) down and out? Sure, one or two games from Pokémon series were decent, but it's getting to the point where they are selling the clone of a clone of a clone whose grandfather was a clone.

Seriously, Nintendo, where have you lost all that innovativeness you used to have?

Oh yeah, I guess it went down with the SNES...

Well, okay, Wii was a step back to the right direction but it was only a single step and not a very long one at that.

While I'll admit I'm somewhat excited by this (as Gold was the last Pokémon I saw as truly great), I really hope that they do more than just take the story and environments from the original games and put them in the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum engine.

It'd be nice if they actually went and reworked the very basics of Pokémon gameplay, and created something fresh.

I've been waiting for this. My DS lite won't play old Gameboy games. And Gold was the only one of the series I ever liked.

Heart Gold? Soul Silver? Who smoked a bong while creating these names?!
HeartGold isn't too bad, reminds me of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

Source?

I haven't seen the story on the Escapist.
There have been at least two threads made today. Oh and source is here, but the site is in Japanese so I doubt you'll be able to read it: http://www.pokemon.co.jp/info/game/g090508_01.html

Agreed.
As I said in the thread about the rumors they where going to make Gold/Silver(They'r names. Capitalize them.) remakes
"I might actually buy a Gold/Silver remake since Gold was the first video game I owned and
thus caries a metric shit-ton of nostalgia. And they probably wont screw it up. All they'r gonna do is port it to the DS and revamp the graphics and sound quality."

Every Pokemon game is a remake of the first one, so I'll just wait and see if it's any good.

I'm sure the names "Heart Gold" and "Soul Silver" will be translated into something more Western-friendly when they're released here.

I'd only say its a good thing BECAUSE they're revamping Gold/Silver. if it was a new series then something has gone afoul in Nintendo head office. MOst likely the crack-joints shaped like Mario.

the would be better if the just switched up the order, Gold Heart and Silver Soul

I have yet to find a DS emu that actually works on my computer, the visual boy works but no DS one.

Anyways I think I will buy a DS before these come out cause I am really quite excited
