"I personally don`t believe in settling things with pokemon battles but it`s nor like I have a choice in the matter do I" jeffery asked turning to magnus his hair still draped over his face.
"no you do not now let`s go" magnus replied not taking no for answer.
"fine if we must,let`s go lucario" jeffery half-heatedly replied walking outside lucario following him he walked a short distance away from magnus and lucario stood in front of him and assumed a fighting stance. "so let me guess the rules are two pokemon each" jeffery asked as he shook the hair from his face.
"yep those are the rules" magnus replied he then let quillz go from her pokeball and told her to get ready "okay your move".
"don`t patronize me,lucario aura sphere" lucario fired a small glowing blue orb directly at quillz.
"quillz dodge" she jumped out of the way as the aura sphere flew off into the Forrest.
"lucario quick attack" lucario vanished and quicker then as quick as a flash reappeared in front of quillz and hit her in the face with his fist he then lept back to ready his next attack.
"quillz swift" quillz shot out a stream of bright yellow stars all of them homing in on lucario who tried to run away but to no avail each of the stars hit him in the chest and back knocking him back onto the ground.
"c`mon lucario get up" lucario slowly got up and shook his arms back and forth trying to return some feeling to them. "now lucario force palm" lucario charged at quillz and slammed his palm into quillz's face knocking her back a little bit.
"Why?" was all Joel could say in between fits of getting sick. He had been in the bathroom at the pokemon center since they got their, the image of Ashley burned into his brain. Ace and Eve were trying to comfort him, but their nice words fell on deaf ears. "Why did it happen to her. If she had never met us, she would still be alive," Joel then proceeded to fall on the floor in the fetal position crying. "I invited her to go with us, it is my fault," Joel cried while lying on the floor. I think I know what to do here Ace said, grabbing a pokeball and releasing a pokemon. The momma Kangaskhan was standing their. She didn't say anything, she just picked up Joel and began rocking him in her arms and walking towards the beds in the other room. Her motherly instincts and gentleness helped Joel stop crying and he fell asleep on one of the beds with his pokemon standing around him.
Rodney had the unfortuante task of explaining to the Nurse Joy on duty as to why there were a bunch of sad trainers moping about her hospital he then headed over to the chat computers.
His mother popped up on screen and without hesitation he said "Mum, I'm sure you've heard of what my friends and I have been doing by now I just want to say I'm sorry, I'm sorry for what I've done. And I'm sorry for what I'm going to do. I love you, good bye..." Rodney saw her happy expression change to a saddened and confused one eventually he couldn't take it and shut the screen off.
Next he went to his room, he found pen and paper and wrote-
"Guys I'm sorry, it's my fault this happened. It's my fault this started, if it wasn't for me attacking the rockets on the beach, or even back in Pewter none of this would have happened, don't blame yourselves.
I intend to amend my sins and help the rockets with theirs.
P.S check under the hat and divide as you deem necessary, nice job to whoever won the battle between Jeffrey and Magnus
P.S.S I've only taken Chompers' pokeball and left him out to make sure no one follows me, he is under strict orders so don't try anything"
He placed all his pokemon under the hat along with another sliver of paper containing his PC box details.
He then exited the building and began to run towards Saffron city.
He had been running for hours, his legs and feet were sore and he was about to physically collaspe but still he pounded on only stopping when he heard a crack of lightning then continued running on.
"I had hoped you wouldn't show up..." He said to Raikou who responded "What do you think you're doing, you'll be killed!"
Rodney spat on the ground and kept going, Raikou shook his head and said "Very well then... I can't stop you from doing this" he charged and Rodney and scooped him onto his back and began running at lightning speed. "You know you can't be resurrected a second time right?" Rodney replied emotionlessly "I know".
Eventually they arrived at Saffron looking out Rodney could see the guards and Rocket establishments. Rodney hopped off of Raikou and said to the legendary pokemon "Go, now. I'll do my thing you do yours" Raikou now thundered "DO YOU HAVE A DEATHWISH!?"
Rodney smirked and simply replied "Yeah, yeah I do" before charging off at the gates.
I felt I needed to flesh out my pokemon more and that Rodney was getting in the way. So I intend to pull a common Anime technique which I only know as a "Sasuke" and have one character fuck right off while I work on the others
Magnus and Jeffrey were still in the middle of their battle.
"Quillz, enough playing. End it with Flamethrower!" Magnus yelled. Quillz shot a massive blast of fire from her mouth, striking Lucario in the chest and face, causing him to fall unconscious.
"Lucario, return!" The red light enveloped the fallen Pokemon and Rodney contemplated his next decision.
"Quillz, return." Magnus called back Quillz and grabbed another pokeball. "Go Ryu!"
"Dratini Dratini!" Let's do this ************!
"Alright Charmeleon, let's go!" Jeffrey called out his Charmeleon to battle.
"Ryu, use Dragon Rage!" Ryu blasted forth bluish-purple flames at Charmeleon.
"Charmeleon, dodge and use Slash!" Charmeleon managed to bypass the flames and slashed at Ryu with his claws.
"Ryu, use Thunder Wave!" Ryu sent out an electrical field and stunned Charmeleon. "Now use Dragon Rage!"
The blue flames hit Charmeleon dead-on, causing severe damage. Charmeleon was paralyzed and couldn't move.
"Now, use Dragonbreath!" Ryu fired a beam of blue fire at Charmeleon, who collapsed on the ground, unable to move in paralysis.
"Alright Ryu, one more move, let's-" Magnus was cut off by Charmeleon unleashing a massive Slash on Ryu, knocking him back and writhing on the ground. A critical hit.
"Alright Charmeleon, let's end this. Use Dragon Rage!" Charmeleon shot blue/purple fire at Dratini, reducing it's remaining energy to nothing and knocking it out.
"Look's like a draw to me... Good job Jeffrey." Magnus said, smiling.
After the battle, Magnus walked back into the Pokemon Center and looked around.
"Hey Magnus." Aari said to her boyfriend. "What's up?"
"Hey Aari. Have you seen Rodney today? I haven't seen him at all... He must still be grieving."
"I'd check his room. But, you're right... I haven't seen him either."
Magnus walked into Rodney's room, noticing no one was there.
"Fuck, where could he be?" Magnus asked himself. He saw Rodney's hat and picked it up, revealing the note and the pokeballs. Magnus picked up the note and read it.
"Fuck... GUYS! We have an emergency!" Magnus yelled out for his friends. "Brandon, Jeffrey, Joel, Jared, Aari, we have a big problem!"
Jared quickly made his way out of the pantry at Magnus's call. "What, what's going on? I didn't take any food!" Jared said as he stuffed a wafer into his mouth. Xero came bounding behind him, cookie crumbs visible in the yoke in Brad's head.
"Exeggcute!"We weren't done!
Jared found Magnus with a slightly panicked look on his face. "What's going on Magnus? What's that in your hand? A love note from Aari?" Jared yanked the paper out of Magnus's hand, skimming over it quickly before his expression went from joking to grim in 3 seconds. "Is he fucking serious? IS HE FUCKING....SERIOUS??? What the hell is thinking? He's not just running into a deathtrap, he could be walking into a fucking soultrap!"
"What the hell does that mean?" Magnus asked Jared.
"The Rockets have totally gotten to Sabrina," Jared confirmed. "She's practically a commander for them. She's been using her psychic abilities to maintain almost complete control of the city. And Erika told me that a couple of the Celadon residents that went in to try and save some of the people in Saffron, were found days later on the outskirts of town as dolls, man. FUCKING DOLLS! And Rodney could be very well be signing up for an eternity of wedded bliss with Barbie if he tries anything in there! This is bad man! This is just.....fucking idiot!"
"Exeggcute exegg exegg."We're not getting any more food are we?
"What's going on Magnus, Oh." Brandon said as he rushed into the room still in his pajama pants and shirtless. Seeing the hat and the note in Magnus hand, he knew what had happened though he had no idea why. "Why would Rodney do this? And there's no way Sabrina would turn on her hometown, sure maybe before she got the Hunter but since then she's hasn't been so cynical."

Jeffery ran back into the pokemon center after hearing magnus yell out he saw Jared, Brandon and magnus all crowded outside the door to Rodney's room."hey guys what`s going on" jeffery asked confused. magnus explained the situation to him. Jeffery started taking deep breaths through his mouth "okay jeffery calm down,keep calm don`t do something you`ll regret" jeffery said to himself but then out of nowhere he exploded and randomly punched a wall. "okay now I`m thinking a little clearer,and I only see one solution it would be stupid for all of us to go after him then we would all be dead so I`l go and hunt Rodney down convince him to not be such a fool and then meet up with you guys" jeffery said to everyone.
"jeffery if you go your as good as dead too and besides chompers is under orders from Rodney to stop anyone from following him,according to the note anyways" magnus said trying to reason with him.
"I`m not letting another one of my friends die on me" jeffery replied he let lucario out of his pokeball and healed him up with a potion restoring him to full health.
"Rodney`s ditched us and we`re going after him,well after we beat chompers of course" jeffery quickly explained.
"listen you seems determined and I know better than anybody that when your determined you can`t be stopped so I don`t really have a choice in the matter" lucario said back knowing that he would`nt be able to convince jeffery to change his mind.
"no you don`t now let`s go we have a fool to save"jeffery answered he then walked back to his room and grabbed his bag and loaded it up with whatever weapons he could find. "well now I`l be off so see you guys when I get Rodney" jeffery said to the group as he walked outside he was almost immediately confronted by chompers who snarled at him and bared his fangs to stop them.
Chompers bowed his head and said "Fera ferali gatr gatr" I can't let you through, unless it's to go to the gym or head to Cinnabar. After Lucario translated to Jeffrey he said "Move, we have to follow Rodney. He couldn't of gone far!" Chompers simply stood there, even when Lucario raised his fists.
Sirens were going off, rockets lay dead on the floor. Rodney turned aroud to see a rocket with a knife about to stab him when suddenly a lightning bolt struck the grunt down. Rodney screamed at the sky "Stop fucking doing that!" the clouds began to shake making what sounded like a thunderous "NO!"
"Hey, kid" Rodney heard a voice and turned the way of the voice, he saw a girl only a few years older then him. she continued on saying "I'm Sabrina, the gym leader of Saffron City...well I was, anyhow I got wounded trying to fight off the rockets and...oh I forgot to mention, I'm part of the Saffron resistance and I need help trying to get back to base, you wouldn't mind helping me would you?" she finished off the sentence staring directly into Rodney's eyes.
Oh wow Sabrina's still alive, maybe Saffron still has a chance. I'll help her but I still have something to do here, I -- Aaah! what the hell, my head is throbbing like something is trying to get into it! wenth through Rodney's mind as the discussion passed. His pupils then began to expland, taking up most of the coloured area oh his eyes. As soon as she finished talking Rodney replied in a monotone "Yes, I will help you"

"chompers remember what I said way back on route 9 that if you got in my way again I`d knock your teeth out well guess what your in my way and guess what I`m gonna do if you don`t move" lucario threatened chompers,chompers did`nt move.
"fine be that way,lucario force palm" lucario palms started to glow a deep blue as he lept from Jeffery's side into the air and slammed one of his palms into chompers' face causing him to stagger back a little but not knock him down. "damn you just don`t move do you,lucario quick attack" lucario moved so fast he looked as if he disappeared he then re`appeared in front of chompers and kicked him in the gut before jumping backwards.
"listen I don`t want to continue but if you don`t let us go I will hurt you" lucario threatened as he took a fighting stance awaiting chompers to fight back.
Joel looked in disbelief at Jared, "Sabrina would never do that to people, she would never help the Rockets!" Joel walked over to Jared and grabbed him by the collar and brought his fist back, "Take it back before I knock you out," Jared could see the fire in Joel's eyes. "I've known Sabrina since we were kids and I won't have anyone sullying her name," Joel was pissed and everyone could see that.
Magnus cleared his throat authoritatively... but it didn't work.
"Guys! Stop arguing! Guys! Motherfuck..." Magnus tried to get the group to calm down but was just brought into the shouting match. Aari shook her head as she watched the boys argue and fight... none of which was doing anything to help the situation. She needed to get the attention of the boys... luckily, she had the assets to do so.
"Oh boys...boys... BOYS!" Aari yelled loudly to them.
"WHAT?!" They all yelled and then their jaws dropped. Aari had used her special female ability to calm them down.
I'm so glad I have these... Aari thought to herself and she giggled.
"Alright..." She said as she lowered her shirt back down, an 'awwwww but...' escaping Jeffrey's lips, followed by Magnus punching him in the arm. "Look, we can't fight. All we need is a plan. Magnus, you were about to say something, hon. What was it?"
"I can't remember right now... gimme a second." Magnus stammered. "Umm... Oh right!"
Magnus cleared his throat and explained to the rest of the group his plan.
"I think we should respect Rodney's wishes... as surprising as it sounds. He's not stupid... He knows what he's doing." Magnus took a breath. "Now, I think we should go ahead and go to the Gym, win some badges, and explain to Janine. That's our objective... with or without Rodney."
Well I try, storm It had precedent, I just thought it would be nice to get the gym leaders a little more involved than just as road blocks. You're cue's at the end if you want it haha.
"You think I like that development?" Jared said trying to wriggle his way free of Joel's grip. "You think Erika likes that development? Neither of us know why, but its true. I mean, you know what she's capable of Joel, Erika told me about the last time she snapped, about what she did to her own mother for God's sake! And she's clearly been at it again, look at the evidence! I know you can't believe this, but she's lost right now, Joel. She's lost to the dark side! But maybe there is time, maybe you, maybe one of us, we might be able to bring her back. But we have to plan, and we have to be able to get through without her knowing, which since she's a bloody psychic, is going to be very tough. Janine would definitely be a nice person to talk to right now. What with her dad being a ninja legend, she's gotta have some tricks we can use. Now let me go, and let's see what we might be able to do, to plan ahead and get Sabrina, and all of Saffron back to the way it was, OK?"
The look in Joel's eyes faded and he let go of Jared's shirt. Jared thought his words might have gotten through to him, but then he looked over and saw Aari. Her special ability was super effective. However she put them away and Magnus begun talking again.
"I agree, Magnus, but I say once we beat Janine, we gotta make a plan and get back to Saffron., whether Chompers likes it or not. I mean, who knows what kind of twisted stuff Rodney might have gotten into?"
"I agree, we can save Rodney but not with out help." Brandon said wiping away the little bit of blood from his nose.
I case anybody didn't get that in Japanese anime shows/games when the male characters get a nose bleed they have usually seen something like what Aari did.
Guys bear with I have something interesting and epic but the computer just ate it because it wants to update, so give me a bit for now some filler
Chompers fell over with a thud and got back up again, his pupils dilated and his face was forced into a toothy grin, however hes tood there motionless.
"What the?" Was all that was said coming from Jared.
"Alright guys... Here's the deal." Magnus stated. "We need to get to the Gym and finish our business there. Then, we head on to Cinnabar Island, just like the note says. Right Chompers?"
Chompers nodded at them and made sure they didn't try to leave the city. Magnus went back inside and grabbed Rodney's pokeballs and hat off of his bed. He went back outside with them and set them down. Magnus let out all of Rodney's Pokemon and explained to them what was happening.
"Alright guys... What are we going to do with Rodney's Pokemon? Someone has to take care of them for him until we find him. We can't just put them in storage... that wouldn't be right." Magnus looked at Rodney's Pokemon and sighed. "Let's just go to the Gym for now... we can figure this out on the way there."
"yeah that sounds best" jeffery added getting up and dragging lucario by the scruff of his neck and dragging him backwards.
"let me go I`m not done I need to kick his ass" lucario said annoyed as he thrashed about in Jeffery's grip causing jeffery to only tighten his hold he then pulled lucario close and whispered something in his ear.
"listen as soon as our business in cinnabar is finished we sneak off from the group and get Rodney back ourselves and then you can beat chompers in a fair pokemon battle but until then shut up,got that" jeffery whispered to lucario letting go of his neck.
"fine,just don`t grab me like that again" lucario responded annoyed straightening the fur on his neck.
"good" jeffery whispered to him he then turned to the rest of the group. "so we going now or getting some rest here" jeffery asked.
Rodney was lead to a room, by Sabrina his eyes still wide and now with an unexplainable grin on his face, inside the room he saw 5 cushions, 4 set along each wall and 1 in the middle.
On three of the cushions at a Alakazam, a Mr.Mime and a Espeon. Sabrina took place on the last of the four cushions along the sides and invited Rodney to sit in the middle one. Without thinking about it he began to walk over to the cushion and sit down.
The very moment he adjusted his seating he saw the pokemon and Sabrina all enter what appeared to be a dream state she explained to him without saying anything "I'm in your mind...". Rodney began to panic, only now did he realize he had no control over his body mentally he replied back " If you're controlling me how come I can still think?" the reply came "That's nothing, your simply a spirit now, trapped within a body that is no longer yours, you are my puppet." " Well that's not very nice is it? Why are you doing this. Aren't you with the Resistance? Even if you were a Rocket I'd be dead by now" He again replied,sbconsciously thinking at the same time " where are you you glorified electrical Skitty!" although it didn't physically happen Rodney could see Sabrina smirking "Oh you're legendary pet? He still thinks your safe in a resitance bunker, I cut your communication"
Why are you doing this!?, Joel and Brandon. They trust you and think you're their friend Rodney thought, now discovering the hopelessness of his situation. "Friend!, Friend!? HOW WOULD I MAKE FRIENDS STUCK IN A DARK VOID FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS!?" Sabrina replied, her voice changing into something Rodney would think of as a more sinister version of Dialga's voice. " You're not Sabrina are you? So why are you controlling her and if you've been there for long why were you letting her help people? " The reply came "I simply waited for when the time was right even now, all I'm doing is playing the forces off against one another. Infact right now I think I'll deliver you to Giovanni, I'm sure he'll get brave enough to attack somewhere."
" Wait before you send me off, answer me one question. So you know everything I'm thinking right? " She replied "Yes, I know everything you've seen and done, infact the link is so strong I even know what you're going to do before you do it." Rodney sent out a little prayer to anything that would listen before thinking " O RLLY? " "Yes" she responded. Again Rodney thought " O RLLY" and the reply was similar the third time he asked the voice again shifted to the monstrous one "STOP THAT YOU LITTLE BRAT!" in that split second Rodney began thinking as loud and annoyingly as he could-

All that gave him ridicolous headache but it had the effect he wanted, due to the strength of the link Sabrina and the three pokemon had all collapsed unconscious. Rodney made his way out as best he could, the grin still on his face.
Once he had made his way outside he found some mud and covered his hair in it, disguising it's colour. Dear god I hope she meant it when she said I can't feel anything! Rodney thought as he swung his head back and hit a stone wall with his nose, breaking it. Then he pulled out his knife and began making cuts in his face till it was near unrecognisable.
That night it had been decided to let out Rodney's pokemon and explain to them what had happened, Knight had tried in every way to get past Chompers but simply couldn't the other pokemon were simply in a state of shock.
"Why would he leave us!" Blaze asked Sparks, who was sitting in a corner holding his tail bauble and crying to himself "This is the only thing that could comfort me at a time like this" Sparks said paying no heed to Blaze, Slicer had been attacking furiously the same spot of air for the last half hour.
Between all the ruckus it was hard to notice the new report on the television the reporter said "Today the existence of one "Happy Hacker" has been confirmed in Saffron, the military spies have come across the child who appears to be another case of Team Rocket's unexplained brainwashing program except this time the child has been seen attacking and killing Rocket members with a knife, our counts say he has killed up to 20 members on his way out of the city. One of the spies even explained what happened, we have his recording of the events "I was on the Saffron outskirts with Rocket grunt, I was pretending to be his partner. All of a sudden this young man walks by us, he looked absolutely wretched his nose was broke and his face hat been cut all over but he had this creepy smile on his face. I asked the grunt what was happening and his reply was "Ahh, another mindless doll they go off into the wilderness to do so don't worry about him" the next moment he had jumped on the man and severed his neck. I ran as fast as I could."
The reporter then finished off the section by saying "We have also gotten this picture which was taken from a distance" The picture appeared on-screen as she continued "However our photo analyists have examined the picture and determined the boy looks like this-" The on-screen picture zoomed in on the face, dirty and covered in blood she finished off saying "This boy has given us a chance to push into Saffron, he will be missed."
Rodney's pokemon all gathered around the screen and began cheering "It's him, It's him!" they each cried, eventually Chompers slowly lumbered over and joined in the noise he caught the attention of the other pokemon saying "We have to keep the other humans from leaving, I only hope he's coming here. For now we we have to keep this a secret from the humans and even their pokemon or else they might go after him". Slicer said "I'm going to go train, he'll regret the next time he fights without me!" Knight spoke next "Wow, I hope he'll be okay. I know let's go find him and bring him back quicker!" she began slithering when all of a sudden she was picked up by Blaze "We can't just go now, it'll be too suspicious" Speedy was diving about the room literally jumping off walls "He's okay, good ,great he's okay I was starting to get worried that he was hurt and that he was not okay but he's okay. Wonderful" Speedy said in her fast and slightly paranoid tone. Sparks was now hugging the ball on his tail even harder saying "I knew you were a good luck charm!". All the noise had left the Nurse Joy and Chansey on duty very confused.
First off ouch my fingers.
Secondly, yes I've added truth to both parts of Sabrina by suggesting an "otherwordly" (hint,hint,nudge,nudge) force is controlling her. At the same time she's a sadistic *****.
I do have to apologise though, I got caught up in trying to set-up the end of Kanto to be a bang that I've ended up Mary-Sueing a bit. I'll do my best to not do that anymore.
Now the post itself, in short because of the strength of the link and it's amplification because of the other pokemon Rodney was able to knock them out by being, yes very fucking annoying.
I know I changed from the original premise of getting Rodney to go there but I tried to tie it in a bit with the latter half of this post.
Magnus woke up quite early that morning. He wanted to get to the Gym and battle before the others did, plus he wanted to see how things were going on the news. Magnus sat down with a glass of orange juice and a few bagels smeared with cream cheese.
"Om nom nom... Cream Cheese." Magnus mumbled to himself while eating. His Pokemon, as well as Rodney's, were eating their own food as well. Magnus turned the volume on the television higher as somethign from Saffron City came on. It was a report about a 'Happy Hacker' person who'd been killing Rocket members.
Well, at least things aren't all bad... I wonder who it is.
They were about to show the picture, when the channel changed to the weather. Magnus turned around and saw Blaze with the remote.
"Char Char Charmeleon Charmeleon." I want to see if it'll rain today.
"Alright... we can watch the weather." Magnus let Blaze have the remote for a bit. It wasn't going to rain. It would be windy in Fuschia today, so watch out for low-flying Pokemon.
"Okay Blaze, change it back to the News Channel, please." Blaze did so, reluctantly. They had just finished up the segment on Saffron and now were going to International News.
"Team Rocket have yet to make strongholds on Sinnoh and Hoenn." The anchor reported. "The seas around these island nations boast such a massive number of Wailord on migration there at the moment, that security have been able to stop any Rocket ships trying to get in. We do however, have to worry about the remnants of Teams Magma and Aqua, as well as Team Galactic that are already there."
Magnus finished his delicious bagels and OJ and then called back his Pokemon once they were done eating. He walked outside and headed towards the Fuschia Gym. When he got there, he walked inside and saw Janine waiting in the middle of the room. He walked forwards and smacked his face on an invisible wall.
"Right... Walls." Magnus muttered to himself. He saw Janine giggle as he looked around for a way through this. "Quake, come on out!"
Quake beamed out of his pokeball and looked at Magnus.
"Quagsiiiiiire?" What's up?
"Quake, I need you to use Water Pulse. Wherever the water doesn't flow, that's where a wall is." Quake did so, creating a sphere of water in his hands and then releasing it. Magnus followed the flow of water. He reached Janine who was clapping slowly when he got there.
"Very clever young man, very clever. Tell me, what's your name?" She addressed him.
"My name is Magnus." Magnus replied to her. "I'm from Sinnoh, but I'm travelling through Kanto with my friends. One of whom you know."
"Someone I know? Are you going to tell me?"
"Only if you can beat me, Janine. Now let's battle."
"Alright Magnus from Sinnoh. Let's go. Ariados, I choose you!" Janine let out an Ariados, the large spider Pokemon climbed on the top of the ceiling and along the walls.
"Go Reynard, show your stuff!" Magnus called out his Vulpix, who landed on the ground and snarled. A ninja landed from the rafters, it was the referee, and gave word for the three-on-three battle to start.
"Ariados, Spider Web!" Janine's Ariados spun a web that hit Reynard, preventing him from leaving the battlefield until he fainted.
"Reynard, use Flamethrower!" Reynard unleashed a beam of flames at the Ariados, wounding it badly and burning it.
"Ariados, use Pin Missile!" A flurry of sharp pins flew towards Reynard, striking him four times. The Ariados's burn was too much for it to handle, and it fainted.
"Go, Crobat!" Janine released her Crobat, and it flapped around menacingly. Reynard steeled himself for another battle, being unable to be recalled.

"Go Crobat!" Janine let out her Crobat onto the battlefield. Reynard growled and prepared himself for the next round.
"Reynard, use Will'o'Wisp!" Balls of white flame spun around Reynard's tail, throwing themselves at the Crobat, who was burned as a result.
"Crobat, use Poison Fang!" Crobat's fangs glowed purple with Poisonous energy as it swooped down and attempted to bite Reynard. It bit down, and Reynard quivered in pain, receiving the poison.
"Now Reynard, use Payback!" Reynard shot back a blast of Dark energy back at the Crobat, dealing twice the damage Reynard received.
"Air Cutter! Now Crobat!" Crobat flapped its four wings and shot waves of cutting energy.
"Reynard, Flamethrower!" Reynard countered with a massive beam of flames, which was cut through by the Air Cutter, but still managed to hit the Crobat, knocking it out.
"Great job Reynard!" Magnus cheered on his Vulpix, who collapsed from exhaustion and the poison. "Return, you've done enough."
"Crobat, return." Janine called back her Crobat, and then brought out another pokeball. "Go Venomoth!"
The purple mothlike Pokemon beamed from the pokeball and flapped its wings, waiting for the next Pokemon to battle it.
"Red, show me your moves!" Magnus called out his Shiny Quilava, Red, who beamed onto the field raring for a fight.
"Quilava!" Bring it!
"Venomoth, use Sleep Powder!" Venomoth released sleep-inducing spores by flapping its wings, clouding the air with a yellowish dust.
"Red, use Defense Curl and hold your breath!" Red curled into a ball, protecting himself from the spores.
"Now Venomoth, Zen Headbutt!" Venomoth charged forward, aiming it's glowing head at Red and flying forward at full speed.
"Now, use Flame Wheel!" Red unleashed his flames as the Venomoth approached, catching it with the fire and then spinning and knocking his flaming body into the thorax of the Bug Pokemon, as well as burning the spores in the air.
"Venomoth, use Psybeam!" A rainbow colored beam struck Red, causing damage to the Fire-type Pokemon.
"Now, use Zen Headbutt again!" The Venomoth charged at Red, moving in for the last blow.
I hope this works... Magnus thought to himself.
"Red, use Lava Plume!" Red's firey crest and his hind fur grew to vast dimensions enveloping both Red and Venomoth in thick fire. When it dissipated, the Venomoth lay scorched on the ground, twitching.
"Congratulations, Magnus. You have bested me in Pokemon Battle." Janine congratulated Magnus. "I present you with the Soul Badge."
"Thank you very much Janine, thank you for a great battle. And it's Joel." Magnus replied.
"Excuse me?" Janine said puzzled.
"The friend of mine whom you know... his name is Joel. I have to go now... Thank you." Magnus left the Gym, the invisible walls having given way for a clear way out to the front door and outside.
