Magnus took a sip of the wine that Jared had so graciously ordered for them, and let it roll around his tongue. The wine itself tasted fairly good, as he expected from an expensive bottle of red wine, but he had never really like red wine. He found it too tannic, too harsh on the palate. The alcohol burned nicely as it slipped down his throat, and he set the glass down.
"It's good, for red wine." Magnus said, feeling proud at being able to drink this. "But I'm more looking forward to what we're having tonight."
"That's my boy, Magnus!" Jared laughed slightly. "I'll be sure to show you a good time."
"Just make sure I don't enjoy myself so much that I do something I'll regret later." Magnus drank the wine, he needed to dispel this strange feeling he had that something bad was going to happen. Also, partly to prepare his system for the upcoming deluge of fermented and refined liquors.
"Or someone you'll regret later." Jeffrey joked, but not rudely.
"Yeah." Rodney added. "Otherwise Aari will make him sleep on the couch."
"Sleep on the couch..?" Aari asked them. "What do you mean by..."
She looked at Magnus with a look of anger on her face. Magnus filled his mouth with a forkful of the delicious pasta and Corphish in a saffron cream sauce, hoping to avoid what she was going to say next.
"Magnus... did you tell them?" Aari said quietly, but with an inflection that caused Magnus to choke slightly. He swallowed his food and talked back to her.
"I...*hack*.. I didn't...*cough* Ahem..." Magnus cleared his throat and explained. "I didn't mean to, it just sort of slipped out this morning."
The air stood still with a short moment of silence. Magnus hoped someone other that Aari would break it.
