I got a few chuckles, I admit that the "avoid science labs" bit is a bit much though. Why 22 though? I don't get the significance of that number. Also, Alternate Protestant Version is so true...

It looks quite amusing, but I wouldn't play it myself. And those who are being babies about how insensitive it is can cry me a river.

Just one short little question only tangentially related to this topic: Why do so many people claim that this should be a "Catholic" playthrough? Because in my personal experience, most Catholics are basically Atheists who go to church once a year.
Is it because of the picture of the pope down there? I know he's a great guy to make fun of, but even he (or one of his predecessors) has stated that the theory of evolution does not disagree with Christian beliefs.

Well from what I have heard and personally experienced for myself Christianity has two sides catholic and christian oddly (a few more smaller sides and sides within the sides but google that if you want..lol) From what iv seen Catholics tend to be more extreme in there belief system then most Christians (sure some of them still are really lose in there belief but Catholicism seems to breed more extremists then most branches of Christianity

Oh and don't forget to factor in area where you live...it changes everything because everyplace has a different lvl of everything thus making all my talk pointless!

Oh, and the Trainer School would be comedy GOLD! I mean, think of all the opportunities to put in brainwashing references! And you could make it a Catholic school, and at one point you find a priest in the closet with a little boy! And on the blackboard it could say 'Harry Potter is the enemy of God!'.
Man that would be great, although it would be leaning more to the offensive side of the joke than just poking fun.

This is insensitive, even with your "a christian helped me make it" bit its obviously insulting. Also the idea that all Christian's disagree with evolution is false.
so you are against satire? One of the earliest from of criticism?

I found this really funny. I don't think you should worry about offending people: while they have all the right in the world to be offended, that doesn't mean you should alter your behavior. As said, pretty much everything is going to offend someone. Religion is kept to be too much of a taboo anyway when it comes to humor and satire.

I was going to say 18 because of the whole teen-abstinence movement, but the weird OCD-eque part of me didn't want to use 18 twice in a row. Plus a lot of groups have as much disdain for sexually active college students as they do high schoolers. I figured 22 would be a good number since that's when most people get their diploma.

Hm, very interesting to see such a different perspective. Where are you from?
Because around here (Germany, but not Bavaria where it is probably a little bit different) only protestants seem to give a shit about their religion, with some more radical branches settling in, too. And from what I hear, protestant evangelists also seem to be more radical and loud in the USA, too, with all of that Creationist/Intelligent Design, anti-abortion, anti-gay-marriage stuff.

OT: Whenever you meet a Ghost type pokemon, you have to perform an Exorcism. Now that something Catholics can believe in, too! ;)

I can see how this would be taken as offensive but ill give it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe if the rules were appropriated on a fundamentalist level, although that just changes things so that anyone who considers themselves fundamentalist is more likely to be insulted.

In the spirit of being on topic though, perhaps if a pokemon faints you have to wait 3 days to revive them?

Now you've given this 19 year old who hasn't started college yet sad face. I know for sure I won't be getting a degree at 22, lol. Yeah, I can see why you wouldn't want to use 18 twice, I would do the same.

Well, the person you are in a game is completely different from who you are in real life. Right?

If you're upset, don't be. If you don't believe in this sort of stuff, then laugh it off as a little lighthearted fun concerning the fundamentalists. If you do believe in these sorts of things, then why be offended? Either way, it's not as if it's a personal attack on you, just a fun little joke.

Please, if you're genuinely offended by this, reply and make clear to us all what about this is so objectionable.

I find it rather amusing that people will fly off the handle about how this is insensitive to their beliefs, then turn around and do it to someone else's.

To help translate, when someone says:

"You need to respect people's religious beliefs."

what they're really saying is:

"You need to respect MY religious beliefs."

The whole thread is clearly done in jest, and people need to take it as such.

EDIT- PurpleLeafRave that clip is so win.

So yeah, Another stab at theism, and specifically christianity. Why am I not surprised. So I am just wondering why is it that we have to refrain from attacks based on various criteria such as race, sex, orientation, etc, but seemingly attacks on theists, and specifically Christianity are basically encouraged, especially when you have Contributors who like to use their contributions as a platform to stab at religion.

Please, if you're genuinely offended by this, reply and make clear to us all what about this is so objectionable.
Because it assumes that all Christians subscribe to one set of thoughts and are incapable of rational thought. There are Christians who agree with evolution, Who dont believe in ghosts, ect and to poke fun at a group of people based on their faith and the the incorrect assumption that those within that community of which hold ignorant views embody the entirety of the faiths views. Basically this is no less offensive than the old stereotypes such as all black people love chicken or all Jewish people are all greedy that are commonly understood to be offensive.
