But the boy?s mother continues to insist that authorities could have handled the situation differently. She said she believes that police with proper training could have defused or at least stabilized the situation until she arrived. ?I was 10 minutes away,? she said.
RIIIIIGHT, clearly SHE could have handled it better, seen that her parenting is the one that makes this kid act like he does

hell, if my son acted like this some time, i would give him the spanking of his life, NOTHING justifies a kid saying he is going to kill someone, not even at age 8, i hate to see what would happen when he grows up and can actually act on his murdering urges

as for the "police" that pepper sprayed him, i would have taken the stick, grabbed the kid by the ear,and hand cuff him to a table or something, I wouldn't have even warn him about anything, he thinks he can get away with anything because he is 8 years old?? heh, i would make it certain he KNOWS he can´t. not just warn him.

Entirely justified. I feel that it's not a bad thing, considering it defused the situation correctly. Heck, he was threatening to kill his teachers, and swinging around weaponry.

Pepper spray does no permanent harm. I'm with the police here.
Am I the only one who thinks that the mother is not a good parent? She seems to think "Whatever happens, my child can't be at fault."

It reminds me of the Simpson's Hurricane Neddy. When Ned is a kid and his parents are at the psychologist, "We've tried nothing and are all out of ideas!"

I think it should be mandatory for the police pepper spray all 8 year olds on sight just because they're such annoying little fucks.

But that's just me. not a big fan of kids.

He may have anger problems, but still he's just an eight year old armed with a stick. I'm not sure how much experience you have in dealing with pissed off eight year olds (although I may just have an abnormally high amount of experience with them), but eight year olds, even ones as angry as that, would be intimidated (not to mention extremely confused) by 2 armed police officers rushing towards them and yelling. Even if he fought back, eight year olds tire out pretty quickly. If they simply picked him up, he would tire himself out with all his kicking and screaming within a minute or two, so gently placing him inside of a police car wouldn't be much of a daunting task.

Not to mention he was the only one in the classroom, so they could have just waited it out until his mom showed up.
I've got a fair bit of experience with kids but nothing relevant to this and I don't think you do either, the reason for that being you're still judging this kid based on kids you know. When kids you know have a tantrum they're not actually trying to severely hurt you, they're throwing a tantrum to try and force you to do what they want.

This kid wasn't doing that, this kid was trying to hurt people and they're more than capable of it at that age. Now I don't know if you've ever been in a fight but the last thing you want to do is restrain your arms, if you picked this kid up then he's got four limbs and you've got two and your two are full. I don't see any reason a police officer should have to pick a child up and hold him whilst he attacks him, you'd probably get some very nasty injuries.

Taking something off of someone who doesn't want you to is one of those little things that sounds far easier than it actually is, if you've ever taken something off a kid then chances are that kid didn't want you to BUT he was afraid enough of your anger to not properly fight you. It's the difference between kicking a dog and kicking a wolf, if you've only ever seen dogs then you get a very inaccurate idea of how a wolf'd react.
When I said I have experience with these kinds of children I meant I have experience with these kinds of children. They really can't do much damage.

Kids was out of control and brandishing a bit of sharp wood. Already had wrecked some shit.

Was yelling about further hurting people and I thought it was an appropriate response rather than something that could make injure him further like tackling him- or even using something like a taser, which I do think would be going too far. Pepper spray will stop em in his tracks. I approve of how that this was handled.

2 good delibered slaps in the face. They would have solved this kid's behaviour.

Instead, we are watching news of police spraying pepper on his fucking face.
This is what happens when teachers slap children: http://www.curtisgotslappedbyawhiteteacher.com/
That is so much worse than any amount of childhood psychological damage could ever be. Seriously, what the hell? "Intellectual Property Owner"? I've only read one page and I'm saddened.

Also, how would you even find something like that?

To the topic at hand, obviously we can't know for sure the entire situation, but as stated probably a hundred times here, he was threatening them with a potentially dangerous object, and if it's sharp enough it doesn't matter how old the perp is, he needs to be incapacitated. It's unfortunate that he's so young, but this is the safest way for everyone involved. I just hope they work something out before he gets teenaged.

That is all over somethingawful.com (being that Lowtax is from Kansas City, and this is from Kansas City). Also it just so happens the teacher in question is a client of my office.

The kid was trying to KILL two people. I think they would have been justified if they snapped his arms and legs.
really?

I find this funny, i could imagine all the teachers scared shitless of the little 8 year old, the teachers could of handled it themselves if they weren't so incompetent (lock themselves in a closet, what a joke) those teachers were probably good for nothing nerds anyways who thought they were king of the world.

Yeah, but teachers aren't allowed to touch children now a days. So if following district policy to keep from being sued is shitless, I guess you have a point.

Oh my god, I can't believe I read more, but wow. He's not a student number, he's not a corporation, he's not a slave of the state. He's my intellectual property. I own him, and all rights to him.

This is one of the most awful things I've seen in a long time.

Well that sure is dumb, it's illegal for a teacher to solve the problem in 5 mintutes with a quick backhand but not illegal to pepper spray him.

If i were a teacher, i'd just walk out of the room and lock him in
