The Taiwanese Olympic team actually represented "Chinese Taipei".
So? That ain't got shit to do with political corectness, that's just because Taiwan considers itself the real Chinese Republic.
Learn some history.

In New Zealand feminist groups got manhole changed to personhole. I feel this is kind of retarded because we still use the word mankind, not personkind.

That seems kind of unlikely, seeing how the word coloured is deemed more offensiove than black.
Yeah, well politicians like to tell people what they do and don't find offensive.

I demand proof! I think i'm about to die a little inside, third time this month actually.
Actually, my boss was chided at a wedding for asking for black coffee, although it was a mixed race wedding so they might had cause to be a bit touchy.

I think African American is pretty stupid. Its just some bullshit term that Jesse Jackson made up. Not to mention their trying to identify their race by their nationality.
Also lots of American tourists in Britain call every black person they see "African American" thinking that they are being correct when it's pretty much the opposite because they're obviously not American and many in my school are from the Middle East NOT Africa so it's just stupid.

Proof that everybody listens to Stephen Fry. And trust me, that's a good thing.

Go listen to George Carlin for awhile. He's got a few good ones. I think some asshats are calling seatbelts "personal restraint systems" now.
How are seatbelts even remotely connected to any kind of racism or the like???

Doesn't that make them Asian-British?

Exactly but most American tourists insist on calling them African American which was the point of my post

Some schools in Britain (like my old one) made the staff refer to blackboards as chalkboards. I don't know how widespread the policy was though, so it might just have been an overly cautious headteacher/council.
I think that's because most chalkboards are green now that they're not made of slate anymore.

If I refer to my color as "white," it seems completely logical to refer to somebody with darker skin tone as "black." I'm not truly white and they're not truly black, but it's a simplification of the pigmentation coloring.

I liked how the Venture Bros mentioned that "African American" thing. I've always hated how people use that term, despite the fact that it is often 100% incorrect.

1. People who were born in America are not African any more than I am German, Irish or whatever. The color of their skin is irrelevant-Americans are just plain Americans if they were born in this country. They're not "African American" unless they lived in Africa at some point and then came over to America to live there. Ancestry doesn't count. My grandfather might be a truck driver, but that doesn't mean I deserve to have people give me free mack trucks because of my "heritage," or that I know how to drive one.

2. Not all black people are American. Not all black people are African. Black people come from all kinds of places in the world.

3. People from Africa who were born there and are still living there, for example, are African. The term "African American" would imply that they had some relation to America which they, in fact, do not.

Just adding my $0.02 in support of what you wrote.

You shouldn't be apologising for posting the same link. In the old days on the internet you would have been swearing like a sailor and threatening to track me down in real life and beat me up for stealing your thunder. I swear, these days, it's political correctness gone mad.

Yeah, and they changed "gullible" to "credulously challenged".

Anyone who thinks political correctness is a bad thing, is a racist. End of.

Political correctness gone mad, is the favourite catchphrase of so-called "journalists" with hidden racist agendas. Did you know, you can't even scrawl racial abuse in excrement on someone's car nowadays, without the political correctness brigade jumping down your throat!

Yeah I spent a few months helping in Ethiopia and we would regulary get an American couple that brought supplies/what not and they always referred to the black people living in AFRICA as african americans.
