Political Correctness seem to be derived from the compensation culture, in that people are getting scared of doing anything expresive in case they offend someone who would try to sue them or something. In fact I think a better term would be Political Paranoia.

Lol like the principal round here changed

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!

to Fun your life must be.

people need to make them selves a cup of concrete and harden the F up. Did they hange the baa baa black sheep sound cause of the word black as in black people? cause i didnt think it had anything to do with is being a sheep from africa or anything. i thought black sheep were just the odd ones out.

The majority of people I see using that phrase are usually extremely racist, homophobic and/or xenophobic - not that you are.

I never even notice so called political correctness to tell you the truth. It just seems to be something for people to whine about.
The issue is that forcing them not to say the word does not stop them from being it? Just makes their outwards appearance less ugly to people, but you'll always know.

My view is that people don't need to or have to be protected from offense. "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me." At exactly what age does that stop applying? I mean we teach it to kids but it only seems to apply until you're old enough to sue someone. Do you know what happens to you when you get offended? Scientific fact: nothing at all. The only way offense can cause a longer lasting effect than "What was that guy's problem?" Is if you're not emotionally mature enough to deal with words. In which case you don't need to be mollycoddled, you actually need to be locked up in a big tower because there is no way in hell you're even going to begin to be able to deal with the real world.

You're right sticks and stones right? words will never fuck up someone's day? ever tried yelling bomb in an airport? or screaming i have a gun near a police station? words absolutly have an effect on people. How about in the work enviroment? what if your sitting at your desk trying to get work done but someone is screaming at the top of there lungs that they hate you, don't those "Powerless" words effect you?

The issue of PC isn't black and white, i'm totally for PC but like anything there are people who can use PC for good and there are people who can use PC for stupidity.

Pretty much this. Just go along with it, it's just a word after all.

Although on further review of your case, I just have this too add:

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH COOKIE MONSTER!?!?!

My thoughts on political correctness, put far better than I ever could. A couple of Stewart Lee clips. Really worth listening to at least the first one in full.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IYx4Bc6_eE (2 minute youtube clip).
That's fantastic! Thanks for that - I agree with everything he said.

I will just say it isn't politicly correct to say brain storm you have to say mind map so i have notice political correctness and mostly it is just stupid.
Who told you that? xD
Well since last year every teacher in my school stopped saying brain storm and instead is saying mind map same at my mom's work place and it is because when some one has a sejour (can't find the right spelling for the word put its when something happens like flashing images that causes a person to fall to the ground and shake) they in a way have a brain storm so someone that had sejours suit a company for saying brain storm because he found it offensive. I don't know if he won or not but still know you can't say brain storm haven't you noticed that less and less people are saying brain storm in schools or workplaces. Also to answer your question i have been told this by many people.

Alright, well when one single person in real life tells me that I promise to believe it.

Brain-storms are group sessions though, mind-maps are the thing you draw (perhaps whilst in a brain-storming session). I call them spider-diagrams anyway, being the liberal hippie that I am.

Manhole covers being renamed, Black coffee no longer being called black coffee and no more brainstorms?

PC is what people do to appear non-racist in public in fear offending somepeople who make up a minority.

Its as bad as the race card when used out of hand.

People whine about freedom of experession and freedom of speech yet they trample people when they verbalise there own views on something deemed "non-pc".

You should be able to say you hate certain groups if you want. I dont see people gasping when someone calls me a leperchaun or irish spud lover.

They're called reactionaries. Sometimes the reaction can be just as bad as the cause of the reaction.

I know that brain storms are group activities but the teachers in my school all used to say lets have a brain storm but once it became politically incorrect to say brain storm they all said lets make a mind map (or spider diagram) together.

IT DIDN'T BECOME POLITICALLY INCORRECT xD

There's like 3 interchangeable terms and everyone I know uses whatever one they like.

Hmm, weird, I was told the exact nursery rhymes back in school, and that was only a few years ago.

OT: Well, that's dumb. Kids will hear these, and not from friends, but from their parents. And why Ba Ba Black Sheep? Is it because it has the word "Black" in it? Whatever, I don't want to get in a rage this early, so I'll just leave it as "that's really freaking dumb".

I have almost all the same teachers (same English teacher) they all used to say brain storm every time and most of them used brain storms a lot (especially the English teacher) and since it became politically incorrect they have always said mind map or spider diagrams one time the English teacher said brain storm then said 'sorry I didn't mean that' and then said mind map.

If I were a parent and I actually understood what some of these nursery rhymes were saying, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be teaching them to my kids.
Don't know about you guys.

I call people black because Bill Cosby said I could.
Also in my country guessing race can be a minefield

I remember thiss used to be a big issue a few years ago. Every few days id hear about some new stupid PC ideal.
What really pissed me off is when Santa had to say Ha Ha Ha, and children couldnt sit on his lap

Havent hear anything lately. Maybe they gave up....maybe they won, and I didnt even know it. Most likely theyre just notusing the term PC anymore

Political Correctness is the attempt to please everyone. Unfortunatly, you can't please everyone so the whole concept is flawed. No matter what, one person or another will be offended. It's just the way things are.
