All the old stories that we heard as children, we deem innocent (or have once deemed innocnet) are actually grim messages that were explained to children so they aren't taken over by fear... Kind of like trying to putting a tragedy into a nicer perspective. Ring around the Rosie was about the black plague.... The Pied Piper kidnapped the children with his music because the town didn't want to pay him for getting rid of the mice.... Ariel dies in the origional tale of the Little Mermaid.... the story of Aladin wasn't exactly as child-friendly as disney makes it out to be... and the list goes on and on.
If you really want to complain about political corrections, wonder why black people can spew every racial slur available (and say that its ok, as long as there is some comedic perspective) and why the rest of the world can't drop an N-bomb for the sake of an N-bomb joke.
I hang around with a varied group of friends. Being that I'm arab and mexican, I don't mind a few jokes about me crossing the border and blowing shit up from time to time. Once those jokes are taken out of context and I'm judged based on those misconceptions, then I have a problem with it. I know plenty of Arab, Jewish, Latino, European, Canadian, African, Asian, Gay/Lesbian, Jehovah's witnesses, etc. that most of what I say about that group, stays with that group. We all take cheap shots at ourselves and eachother, and at the end of the day, its not that big of a deal... we're all friends, the world still turns, and life goes on.
Just be careful of what you say and where you say it. While "political corrections" don't bother you that much, there's plenty of other people who get butthurt over things like this
