To cut a long story short I am currently writing a pantomime, which for those of you who don't know, is a comical play aimed at children and usually performed at Christmas. Think along the lines of Shrek and The Muppet Show. Anyway, my panto is based on Nursery Rhymes, while I was researching I found out that some Nursery Rhymes have either been altered or are banned within educational institutions.

For example, you can no longer say the Nursery Rhyme, Three Blind Mice, and Baa Baa Black Sheep has changed to Baa Baa Fluffy Sheep or Baa baa Woolly Sheep. Jack no longer fell down the hill and broke his crown, but rather, bumped his head. Why? What terrible effect has been scientifically supported that over the last few centuries Nursery Rhymes have ruined children and turned them all into social deviants?

What's next? Is Snow White going to be banned because the wicked queen dies in the end, will Humpty Dumpty fall off the wall and get up going, "That was lucky" or will little Red Riding Hood have tea and scones with the wolf and granny?

With political correctness becoming tighter and tighter, what's next?
Political correctness is getting a little far off. Look at Robin WIlliams. He has a skip where all the past member of congress of congress beat the shit out of osama bin laden until he dies (Crowd laughs theuir asses off). When hereaches the gates of heaven and sees no virgins, he asks to speak to Jesus Christ. St/ Peter says "Hey Jesus you call a cab?" and the crowd gasps... You can kill him, but you can't make an ethnic joke...

Now I suppose I can understand that BUT

Nursury rhymes? REALLY?! I seem to remember singing baa baa black sheep and I'm not a racist. Hell, the term is "Black sheep of the family" to talk about the odd man out... It's definately not going to fuck up our children

All the old stories that we heard as children, we deem innocent (or have once deemed innocnet) are actually grim messages that were explained to children so they aren't taken over by fear... Kind of like trying to putting a tragedy into a nicer perspective. Ring around the Rosie was about the black plague.... The Pied Piper kidnapped the children with his music because the town didn't want to pay him for getting rid of the mice.... Ariel dies in the origional tale of the Little Mermaid.... the story of Aladin wasn't exactly as child-friendly as disney makes it out to be... and the list goes on and on.

If you really want to complain about political corrections, wonder why black people can spew every racial slur available (and say that its ok, as long as there is some comedic perspective) and why the rest of the world can't drop an N-bomb for the sake of an N-bomb joke.

I hang around with a varied group of friends. Being that I'm arab and mexican, I don't mind a few jokes about me crossing the border and blowing shit up from time to time. Once those jokes are taken out of context and I'm judged based on those misconceptions, then I have a problem with it. I know plenty of Arab, Jewish, Latino, European, Canadian, African, Asian, Gay/Lesbian, Jehovah's witnesses, etc. that most of what I say about that group, stays with that group. We all take cheap shots at ourselves and eachother, and at the end of the day, its not that big of a deal... we're all friends, the world still turns, and life goes on.

Just be careful of what you say and where you say it. While "political corrections" don't bother you that much, there's plenty of other people who get butthurt over things like this

Personally, I don't care who else gets caught up in this mess, if I have kids, they're gonna learn the old-school versions of fairy tails. Blood, sex, and death included.

I find it retard.

But we must 'protect the children from something', because...you know...parents are NEVER to blame.

political correctnesshas at this point seems to be out to get EVERYONE (they will find you) you can't say anything without offending someone anymore, then again some really offensive things, like the burning of certain books for example, are allowed to happen. I think that enforcing political correctness should be banned because people have taken it waaaaay to far. we can keep the equality and stuff, but don't shove it down everyone's throats, i barely noticed the difference between pwhite and black and brown and yellow and whatever other shades are apparently out there now until people started telling me how to treat them with respect because i'm a terrible person (cause i'm pale and that makes me satan).

I believe George Carlin can explain my thoughts on this better than I can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNk_kzQCclo&feature=related
I find the way the English language has evolved into a lifeless, dehumanized dialect quite pathetic.

They will start telling us when to fucking die next!

EDIT: Apologies, lost integrity for a second there.
I just hate this stupid, PC-Nanny State I live in and want the current encumbrance to die and/or get voted out to be replaced by people with a brain!

This picture sums up my opinion on the state of Britain (I don't know if America or Australia have this problem?)

I have almost all the same teachers (same English teacher) they all used to say brain storm every time and most of them used brain storms a lot (especially the English teacher) and since it became politically incorrect they have always said mind map or spider diagrams one time the English teacher said brain storm then said 'sorry I didn't mean that' and then said mind map.
Really? BRAINSTORM?
It slays me that a neutral catchphrase like "Brainstorm" is now considered to be Politically Incorrect.
Have these people lost their fucking minds?
