This case should've been thrown out the moment it saw the light of day.

My vote for WTF!? reflects this.

I saw this in the NYT this morning and I couldn't believe it. I mean, really? Seriously?

It's about time. I'm tired of these 4 year olds getting away with everything. Who do they think they are, children?
I know, next thing we know they'll be asking for naps and shirking their jobs.

In Canada, you watch TV.
In Soviet Russia, TV watch you.
In America, you sue TV!
Your avatar and your post made me laugh. Well played good sir.

OT: This is what, under the jurastiction of a normal human being, would be called a frivilous case. Some people can blow things way out of proportion, and most of the time they are blown out of the water, but there are those who slip the porverbial net.

In the case where negligence over children that resulted in the death of an elderly lady, its much easier from a legal perspective to for one estate to sue than to debate the complexities of wrongful death. Blame the lawyers all you want but the smart money goes for a suit against the children and not the parents.
It said in the article her death was not related to the accident

What about the age of...knowing what you're doing and how it affects the people around you? That's not the official term. The age of accountability, something like that. Basically you can't really be held accountable for doing stupid things because, well, you're a child.

Article won't load for me.

I think of a 4-year-old more like the parents' property or a pet or something. I don't know the details of this, but suing the child himself would be ridiculous. But if a little kid, say, ran up and bit my genitals off while the parents say "well you shouldn't have called them nuts when he was hungry", I'd be inclined to sue a 4-year-old (or his parents, whatever). The same goes for if someone's dog jumped through my window and wrecked my house.

Of course anything close to this generally the people are nice enough to settle out of court and offer some compensation, such as pay to repair the window or whatever. But there are a lot of assholes out there, so I wouldn't put it below some people to be unapologetic.

Lawyers, hear me! You shall suffer the wrath of bowel cancer and harpies! (Yes, I meant harpies and not herpes.) And should you find the kid guilty over an obvious accidental death, your fate shall be to be sucked up Gazuga's butt and never seen again...

Whats the point of sueing a 4-year old? They don't have any money. All you'll do is traumatise them to the point where they see the legal system as a way to randomly attack people.

Though I suppose the american legal system is already seen that way.

You. lawyers that will work on this case. Go die. Violently.

I meant prosecutors, so yeah. The people who try to get this girl to pay... with all of her nickels...

I can't find the guy who corrected me... But ohwell, I'd have to tell him that he should still agree lawyers shoudl die. Just look at Liar Liar.

I really would not want to live in america. I'd be in a constent state of fear that I'd be sued for treading on someone's toes, or spilling a drink at a resteraunt. Wouldn't work as a way of life for me.
