They can be useful but if used too much are annoying.
Therefore it is neither a "Pro" or "Noob" weapon.
RPD + grip and stopping power, however...
Only ever played COD4 online, though.

Do you think that using the 40mm grenade launcher in any game is "noobish" or ok?
I mean its not the worst thing ever (thats marty). However, IMO, it does take less skill to get a kill with a nade launcher, so I'll go with noob.

There is no such thing as a weapon reflecting a pro or noob player. Just a weapon reflecting good or questionable design choices. If a weapon is unbalancingly powerful, then any reasonable pro OR noob would use it. But naybe the designers made a mistake?

Normally its just idle whining mind you, but balance issues are possible.

In Modern Warfare. Seeing how that is where the term originally came from.
'noob toob' is a term analygous to any weapon which gives you easy kills. most of the time this is because the weapon is an area of effect that can generally kill you in 1 near hit.

i have seen it used in CS 1.6 to describe the Auto shotgun
in DoD:S to describe the bazooka/Pshreck
in CoD to describe the PFaust
in BF2 to describe the SMAW/EYNX
in BF2 to describe the 40mm Underslung

BF2 was acctually the game which made is where our current usage of the word comes from (Noob-toob = 40mm GL)

It really depends on how you use it. If you use it to strategically pick of enemies that are hiding behind cover then fine, but if you use it because you can't kill any other way then you deserve to be thrown into the darkest pits of hell imaginable and be made to stand in a DMV line for all eternity

Bull honkey, tell me that when a swarm of idiots run around with tact knives, or the AA, or akimbo 1887s, or in this case, the tube.

No chance the weapons are balanced, like the f2000 compared to the acr, or the ump to the mp5k.

The only thing balanced is probably the sniper weapons, but even then, you can still kill someone across the map with an acr
I love this undue analysis of every weapon in MW2 being unbalanced.

Think of it this way: If EVERYTHING is overpowered...then it's more powerful than...what?
They tweaked up what one person is capable of, but did this for everyone. This does mean there will be explosives, riot shields, and throwing knives everywhere. It also means people reserving themselves to an AK-47 with a red dot sight will fall behind.

Grenade launchers are awesome. They're one-use longrange weapons that are powerful, but only in their certain situation.

Depends. If you use it to fire over a wall, etc to kill someone you couldn't kill with bullets, then it's ok. If you just carry it around, its a noob tube.

basically this
I can't help but think Daipire is the kind of person who sits back with the intervention and freaking out when he dies, not to personally attack you sir.
Ill admit that the models were stupid powerful for a while, but complaining about the AA or tac knives seems a little ridiculous.
AA-its a shotgun, a fully auto shotgun, but it has about the same range ingame as a booger flying out of someones nose, except its lethal this time.
Tac knives- its a knife, once again very short range, it requires a shift in the way you play the game to counter effectively, but still can be countered without too much extra effort

If the people are using it as a primary source of kills than it's a noob tube. However if they are using it strategically to get people out of corners and clear out buildings by shooting into a window then it's a pro pipe.

It all depends on the game. In a game like Call of Duty it is by many considered the n00b tube because of the large blast radius and relatively easy to kill people with it. However in other games it is harder to get kills with it because the blast radius has been lowered. I myself consider the M203 to be a noobish weapon only if it is fired off randomly and where you KNOW where guys are and hoping to hit him. If it is fired to go up some stairs and into a group of guys you know are there or perhaps through a door on the other side of the street where enemies are pinning down your allies then it is not so noobish. The guys that run around and even at point blank range shoot to hit you with it even though it would probably just knock the wind out of you since its such a close range and doesn't blow up but still kills you THAT is the n00b tube. It is both a n00b tube and a pro pipe because it takes skill to use well but doesn't need skill to use it to get multiple kills.

It doesn't bother me when someone uses it the way it is meant to be used but too many people abuse it. For example, if I'm camping in a building and someone blows up my cover and kills me, whatever. That's fine. But people who use it as their primary weapon are annoying to say the least.

I honestly can't believe that it is as close as it is right now (55% noob, 45% pro). This weapon is a last resort tool in MW2, in BFBC2 it is more realistic and used how it is in a realistic situation.

I prefer the other underbarrel attachment: the Masterkey shotgun in MW2, and the 40mm Smoke grenade in BFBC2. They both deliver such satisfying kills...

Depends on the game really. In Bad Company 2 you have to rely on the tube in certain situations. Randomly firing it around the map = scrubbish. But if you know there are people in a building behind a wall, it's pro to use to kill them.

COD4: MW it is pretty noobish to use and on most maps they ban the use of them for good reason. I am about a 2.5 to 1 KD player and never use them. Every time I get random noob tubed by someone I check their score and I have yet to see one of them with a positive KD.

So it all depends on the game and the situation.

It's a noob tube.

On paper it has a valid purpose- if you land something like a triple or quad+ kill you've just discovered it. It's also a valid anti-camp weapon.

However, nine times out of ten it's at best someone inflating their K/D and at worst you're playing modern warfare 2 and someone's camping with it in a one man army pro kit.

I don't know why people complain about people getting easy kills with the 40mm, because I can't kill anything with that thing.
The 40mm grenade launcher, that is. The 40mm shotgun in Bad Company 2 is pretty freaking sweet.
