4chan can be good, depending on what kind of an experience you're looking for. For inexperienced goers it may be a strange, incoherent, and hostile place, but all boards have their own etiquette and different personalities that you can either learn to distinguish by lurking or the hard way by posting and being a hated and ridiculed newbie. So, it's not really for a person who needs instant entertainment, gratification, and acceptance. A healthy "career" for a channer is to hang around at /b/, get the hang of the posting system and the quirks of the place, get bored of the quirks and lack of quality posting, become a jaded douchebag, then try their luck on some other board and after developing an interest on something other than /b/, to either abandon /b/ or have it as a side dish. Because seriously, /b/ was never any good.
