I have to say, I really love 4chan. A lot of people are actually critising /b/ when they critisise 4chan. 4chan has some other great boards, like /tg/ for instance.

That said, I think /b/ is nothing short of art in motion. It's humanity at it's most pure, without any of society's inhibitions. It's the place that's closest to true freedom of speech that I've ever seen too.

Oh and just for the record, 4chan is contrary to what some people said not the darkest hellhole of the internet: compare with russian sites and other chans.

Call me crazy, but the internet needs forums like 4chan. We need someone or something to show the rest of us that near total freedom exists on the net. They've also shown that determined individuals, when cooperating, can still have an impact on society even from the internet and behind the mask of anonymity.

4chan is one of the things that keeps the net from turning into another shameless political medium. Sure, you can accuse 4chan to be a resistance group full of oddballs, assholes, and pedophiles, but they're a resistance group all the same. I'd rather have them than nothing at all.

Clarification to those that don't know:
eBaum's World is nothing like 4chan. 4chan is a forum (image board, actually) and eBaum's World is a Flash media site. If anything, they're like Newgrounds. They host submitted content and (allegedly) content that they had no permission to host. They are infamous for branding each file with their logo. eBaum's World is protected by croooked lawyers, so attempts to bring justice to them have led to no significant results.

QFT

In a way, channers are in a "Lord of the Flies" scenario, which makes websites like 4chan so fascinating (in a rather sick way)- If you want to know the dark side of humanity, lurk b, if you want to see the the weirder side of humanity, lurk d.

Haven't been to 4chan before, never really been interested. eBaumsworld I haven't been to in roughly 7 years, since I finished high school. Have never heard of the other one though. So I really can't form an opinion on any of those sites.

All those places used to be great, especially 4chan. They were the worst places on the internet, and I loved them for the sake of their e-cruelty; but then they all became overly-popular and overly tame. No more do they conduct great raids, but stagnate under the growing population of underage teeny-boppers, college-age douche-bags, edgey-crowd posers, and all the aforementioned newfags who think they are exclusive members of a hip underground organization of '1337 h@xx0rz' fighting social injustice.

End of rant.

I do apologize, that was more directed towards 4chan than ebaums, but I still haven't found an internet hate-generator that will ever match 4chan pre-/b/day. Still moldering over it.

But for a frankly serious answer - All of them are kind of over-exaggerated. From a point in my rant, some of them -like 4chan, really were quite terrible places, but after a certain point (in this case /b/ day) they all started to decline and become too tame for my tastes.

ah well, they still have pretty bad stuff as i recall.
What defines "bad"? Not meaning to be hostile, just curious.

And orsm.net has those sites beat by a country mile!

4chan is just the debauchery that people don't want to admit being in their nature being expressed anonymously - I don't see anything wrong with that unless it spreads beyond the internet (for instance, some 4channers have ruined the lives of people for the sake of their "lulz" and I think that is wrong)

"Some of it is bad."

4chan is fantastically funny at times and its organized raids are always against deserving targets.

The racism is endemic, even if a lot of it is in jest. Also just being on the site and then you get a picture of the inside of a dogs arse or whatever. That is something that you just do not need.

It has its good points too, mostly the fact that it is usually funny, especially if you don't mind sick jokes and you can understand the inside jokes.

Let us not forget Dusty the cat. Some kid in some dingy suburb tortures a cat and posts his work on the 'sickest place on the internet'. A few minutes later and the police are on the way to deal with that sick fuck, all due to the efforts of b/tards that happened to be online.

4chan is the Final Boss of the Internet. I'm twelve years old and what is this? haha, screw it I should have picked 'I love it!' You have to keep up to date with 4chan, see what those guys are up to. I haven't been there in awhile but I just checked it and this 'Good thing Im on my bee' thing is hilarious.

Long live 4 chan.

I agree on everthing here.
As for raids, they used to have some sort of meaning. It was the anonymous punishment of someone/thing that really deserved it. Now it's just "Uh, ah, she was kinda retarded here, get her!"

I only peek in once in a while now. Usually, I get very quickly bored.

It was great once. Now it's just the nr. 1 meetingplace for internet tough guy who wants to be part of the big, mighty anonymous... And apparently very popular to hate, on so called intellectual and civilized sites....
