I really hope there is. But realistically probably no.
yea with Uwe Boll alive there is a chance...if he does make it it will suck....if you say it sucks and you are an actual critic he will challenge you to a boxing match. If he does all you need to do though is kick him in the groin and say you were aiming for his chest

No. No no no no no no no no no. A halo movie would suck ass. As a rule, the quality of movies made from games is a ratio: one tenth the original quality of the game. With a good game you can make a sucky movie. With dross like halo you will summon the apocalypse. But jesus wasn't cool with that and stayed peter jackson's hand.

If peter jackson get off his ass. We actually could have had a halo movie this year instead of district 9.
you sir, are clearly from another planet. You really think a god damn halo movie would be better than district 9? District 9 was an intelligent, yet badass, action movie that was shockingly relevant and good. Halo is a turd and using my ratio you could see that a halo movie would suck so bad that your eyeballs would fall out and run away if you tried watching it.

You didn't leave an option for "Neill Blomkamp."
Exactly.

If it gets made by him, as it was originally intended to, then it will be awesome.

I'd love to see God of War made into a movie. Benicio Del Toro or Zack Snyder could do it.

The soundtrack is already better than 90% of movie ones.
Dude, I don't think you'll even need a God of War movie adaptation.

Have you seen the new Clash of Titans trailer?

I was just about holding onto myself, desperately trying not to jizz my pants, and then Liam Neeson appeared.

You owe me some new shorts.
Indeed I do.

But I seem to short on those, perhaps a toga or a leather skirt like the Greek warriors of old would suffice?
You guys are fucking with me?
THAT looks good?

THAT LOOKS ANY GOOD AT ALL!?

I fear for the future of cinema. Because THAT looks like shit.

Anyway, the concept of a "Halo" movies is a bad one. Not enough story to walk away with a good movie, especially not after the first game.

they tried, and it turned into District 9.

Can't you be happy with that?

If a new director can pull what Neil Blomkamp made in these shorts then the movie would be good.

Since there os already multiple books on them it might get done, so in my opinion..... Huh all i can come up with is. If you spend 9.95 on a movie about a series of video games and books of which you have played and read what are you fulfilling? Obviously not a pickup line for you to use with the ladies, but in all seriousness, what is the point?

...what did "District 9" have in common with "Halo"? Are you just taking a grasp at the "Peter Jackson produced it" straws?

it would be cool but the hollywood guys who are most likely too busy to play games would probably mess it up. :p

That's like saying "a marmite doughnut would be really good, but the professional bakers at the bakery would probably mess up the execution".
Which is to say that you're completely missing the source of the shittiness of any potential cinematic adaption of Halo.

just something I'm asking as a fan of Halo
A fan of Halo wanting a Halo movie? Seriously, where have you been? With all the movies that are based off games, most of the fans are always pissed about it more than anyone. Halo isn't going to be any different, they will ruin it (in terms of not following the story or changing things up) and then all the fan (boys) will be pissed.

For example, Doom. I thought it was a great movie, acting could have been better, but it completely missed the point of the game. Some Doom fanboy I go to school with was piss about it and whined that the Hell Knight didn't throw fire. Yet, he completely ignored the fact that in the movie they weren't even monsters from hell.

Only thing that could get me to watch a Halo movie would be if they made him take off his helmet at the end and it was Chuck Norris. I'm not a huge fan of either Halo or Chuck Norris, but he would turn the entire Halo series into a joke if they did that, and that would make me laugh so hard.

Well as I've said before I oppose the idea that Halo is just a reskinned Starship Troopers given that:
A. Starship Troopers does not feature a giant ringworld
B. The aliens in Starship Troopers did not have a politically motivated civil war

I actually think that while there is the right material for a ripsnorting action trilogy in the works for Halo, given that it feels largely like a replication for western and eastern civilisation going to war and given that it has great music and a universe bursting with depth, at the same time it's hard to turn a plot that had to be spread across ten hours or so into a mere two hour blockbuster. Large parts would be cut out which would be a problem, so perhaps its better just being part of an interactive medium because at least there, there is room to fill lots more content.
However if shortened but well paced and put together with someone with an understanding of what made Halo great in the first place it could still turn out quite enjoyably watchable, provided that it follows the canon of the main trilogy enough but still adds enough to feel different because after all if it's a literal translation from game to movie it might as well not exist. So it would need to feel different, further more it can't be called Halo unless it actually features Halo as in the megastructure which would mean following the main trilogy with Masterchief Cortana and the Arbiter (Arby's involvement is crucial I think to giving a would be movie some kick as he was the best part of Halo 2) so it would be difficult.
But if we had the first movie on Alpha Halo swtiching perspective between the MC and the soon-to-be Arbiter both wanting the ring for different purposes and then making a trilogy after that I would be interested.
However the effort required to make such a movie work sounds like so much effort we might as well just leave it at a damn fine game series.

Turning video games into movies is not a bad idea, it's just that Uwe Boll fucks them all over.

No, I'm grasping at the straws that the budget and team that was originally intended to make the Halo film made District 9 in it's place.

they were going to make a halo movie but the director didn't want to do it and he made district 9 instead.

*edit* ninja'd

halo has poor char recognition. no interest in mainstream other than core gamers.

I thought it was that they both wanted to make the movie (Neil Blomkamp in particular was seen making interviews about it seeming quite keen and Peter Jackson first came up with it after all) but that it went through development hell and they were forced to shut down production half way through but they still had left over budget that they needed to spend and that became District 9.
I could be mistaken though, but that's what I heard.

hmm i might have read an article meant as pr for the public...i dunno. It had quotes from the director and producer of the district 9 movie indicating what I posted is what happened to the halo movie. In hind sight a movie debacle like you are describing can be bad for image and stock of the film production company.
