Exactly. Thats the problem with pokemon games. They are always turn based and can get very boring. I want to sitting on the edge of my seat as pikachu jumps out of the way of an incoming onix's iron tail. The attack power and weakness systems we already have in the pokemon games could still be in play and apply here but 3D 3rd person combat would greatly enhance the experience.LitleWaffle said:That does have a very nice ring to it, would be a lot more exciting than turned based combat.Shawshanker said:People might get bored with the idea since it's almost just a regular pokemon game with an online world.
What would really be cool is if when you battle with your pokemon you take control of them and it acts like a 3D 3rd person combat game. That would be sweet.
i do not think that it should have every pokemon in it at all, for i think ruby and sapphire have shocking pokemon :S but i think including all of gen I and gen II would be okay.Captain Bobbossa said:No, but only because pokemon is shit now. A pokemon mmorpg at the time of blue and red (gold and silver at a push) would be a deffinate yes.
I didn't even know it was possible to be that grossly underleveled in a pokemon game, I've clocked 19hrs on Heartgold (yeah it's a little slow but I've been doing waaay too much voltorb flip and other stuff), in general you just hit everything with your starter, and you tend to be at least 20 levels above everything by the 5th gym, or at least you still steamroll over everything with your starter, excluding it's weakness gym or maybe the first gym if you're new.Haunted Serenity said:What gradual increase of difficulty. I probaly played it all wrong but 30hrs into diamond i only had 3 gym badges and on my way to the next city the opponents pokemon levels jumped from lvl 20's to lvl 30's. You could only catch lvl 16 pokemone in the area as well.Soylent Bacon said:It sounds like what Pokemon should have been in the first place. A game about people training their Pokemon to do battle with each other just sounds so much more like it should involve a world of real people training and competing, instead of one person playing against NPC's of gradually increasing difficulty.
OT: I would play the MMO. Would be a fun change of pace. Although there would be alot of Pidgy vs Pidgy for a long time.
I sometimes think that this is a good idea; I mean having set moves that either hit or don't hit, being hit with Fire Blast when you're an ice/bug type? (by the way that's just an example!) So yeah one with a sort of RTS would be good.Sworm said:I think Pokemon is probably the single most compatible franchise for a MMO, heck it's almost begging to be made into one.... unlike others *looks at the Twilight MMO*
But what would really be a kicker is if they changed the combat system to be more Real time, something closer to the anime I guess. YOU decide the exact moment when Bulbasaur launches it's vine whip, YOU decide to use Gust to counter the poison sting, YOU strafe to avoid incoming tackles. But that's just my preference I guess, I mean, why change a formula that works right? and GOD knows Pokemon worked over the last decade...
another interesting thing would be if you could choose to specialise into training, breeding, coordinating, ranger...ing? or whatever other stuff you can do to pokemon (that didn't sound right...)
also... 3D and instead of random encounters, they spawn (yeah like most other mmos... flame me!) but again that's my own personal preference.
