Probably the Queen, although if I was to be honest, I don't really have much interest in either. e_e;

I dunno, I just find the strength of these opinions to be a little weird.Tortoiseloz said:I don't really like football that much, it seems to be a waste of time, Why would I want to watch a bunch of sweaty men in shorts when I can go out and Play a Sport I like (Basically rugby or swimming)
I actually put my bit there in as an example of how the average jock-phobic geek feels about sports. Thought really its true -- the people you see at football matches and at pubs, bellowing at the screen tend to be large bald men from council estates. I guess the little education part was a little too much of a generalisation and personal, but at the same time, little education and council estates do genuinely go hand in hand.Snork Maiden said:Massive football fan. Seems that many people who play games and self identify as geeks (in my experience, obviously obviously) have this bizarre hatred for sports, and especially football.
I mean, cases in point right here...

Oh I don't doubt the majority possibly are, but I think it's unfair to describe them as such in the same way said people probably think all people who play computer games are socially inept nerds who never leave their room. For one thing, every pub everywhere is often full on matchdays, and it's clearly ridiculous to suggest the majority of pubs are on council estates which straight away puts paid to the claim that the majority of fans in pubs are "large bald men from council estates."Puzzlenaut said:I actually put my bit there in as an example of how the average jock-phobic geek feels about sports. As I said though, I was giving an example of what the average Escapist thinks. I LIKE football, I voted for football. Everything I said was explaining why the results are as they are and why Escapists would vote for the Queen rather than Football just because of stereotypes they make about football.Snork Maiden said:Oh I don't doubt the majority possibly are, but I think it's unfair to describe them as such in the same way said people probably think all people who play computer games are socially inept nerds who never leave their room. You yourself said the "little education" claim is probably too personal, and that really says it all - that kind of opinion is the kind brought up as a defense for for not liking football all the time, when just simply admitting you don't find it exciting would be fine.
As an aside, I'm about to go out and a little tipsy, so I hope I'm not coming on too aggressively here. People hating on football is one of the last things that bother me, because (unlike games) people who don't like football aren't purposefully disruptive to those that are, and their views will generally be contained to an audience like this one. I just find it odd that (on the whole) on gaming forums people go out of their way to express hate of football (and other sports).
