Poll: A question for Un-Americans.

So, inflammatory title aside, this is actually a pretty basic question primarily for non U.S. residents. Americans, feel free to participate anyway, I won't stop you.

Which is the city/region you'd most like to visit if you had the money. Why is that your choice? Have you already visited other parts of the U.S.? Anything specific you want to see/do.

With only a limited number of poll options, this is obviously not an exhaustive list, but is partly based on these [http://tinet.ita.doc.gov/outreachpages/download_data_table/2011_States_and_Cities.pdf] data.

Miami is the only one I haven't been to already, so I guess I may as well choose that one.

Hawaii definitely, already been to Orlando a couple of times. The other places seem more "sightseeing and shopping" locations than anything else, whereas Hawaii comes across as a "kick back and relax" place.

I definitely prefer "kick back and relax" to "SEE AND BUY ALL THE THINGS!"

This is assuming that it's a "Go on holiday" sort of question.

I'll stay here in Canada, aside from a Vegas trip maybe, but Yellowstone would be nice to visit. Except Banff and Jasper are a lot less touristy and more nature.

Well you, sir, have hit the daily double. New York is also the closest to Canada. It's only about an 8 hour drive (with a food stop) to Montreal. Yellowstone is also pretty close.

This is assuming that it's a "Go on holiday" sort of question.

We'll it'd be rather silly to ask "Which city would you like to have a business meeting in?"

I've been to California already. I'd like to go back (Los Angeles/Anaheim, I guess), now that I'm not 9 years old anymore. There are so many more things to do there, yet when we went the only place we went to was Disneyland.

I'd go to Orlando, just so I can go to Disney World again! Well, actually, maybe in like a year or so when the addition to Fantasyland is complete. I want to go to the new Be Our Guest restaurant so bad~

Also, some travel tips for non-Americans: If you get the chance to visit Hawaii, don't just stay in Honolulu. It is Hawaii, but it's just so...urban. If you want a real taste of Hawaii, go to Maui and the Big Island. You can drive all the way around the Big Island in a day, including the terrifying-but-awesome Hana Highway. After Hana you'll see a sign that says rental vehicles not allowed beyond this point...just ignore it. You don't get in trouble. But be sure to bring water and snacks because there aren't a lot of food stops on that side of the island, lol.

Depends on where in Canada you are. Closest to me is Michigan, and I live south of Toronto.

I went to the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and I'd love to visit Chicago again. Lot of fun weekend trips up there. We'd drive up and park at a suburb train station and ride into down town. Good times.

Why on earth would you want to go to LA/Southern California in general? I guess it has a certain post-apocalyptic charm to it, what with all the decrepit streets, air pollution, and lack of trees, but it's really unpleasant to try to get around in. It takes forever, and traffic is horrendous. You are liable to spend most of your time on any outing sitting in a traffic jam. I guess Hollywood is pretty famous, so it might be nice to say you've seen it (although Hollywood is a pretty skeevy part of the city), but there are many, much nicer places to see in the US. If you want to go to California, I'd recommend San Francisco over L.A.

Yosemite national park is supposed to be pretty neat, too, but despite having lived in California for almost my entire life, I've never been there, so I can't comment. Patrick's Point National park, and similar places along California's northern coast, are all pretty nice, too.

I also met a guy in Spain who was raving about how much he enjoyed driving through Big Sur (or riding a motorcycle to be more precise, but driving wouldn't be too different). I have to admit that the drive along the ocean on Highway 1 is very scenic, so I guess that might be an option too. And I guess if you got up to Santa Cruz (not really part of Big Sur, but Highway 1 will take you through it), you can visit the boardwalk amusement park/arcade where they filmed Lost Boys on your way up to San Francisco.

Anyway, OT, I guess if I had to travel to somewhere in the US I'd be interested in visiting Portland and Seattle. The farthest north I've ever been (in the US), was Eugene, and for some reason, I really like the Pacific Northwest.

If I had to choose a place on the list, I guess I'd go for New York because it's such a famous city, and it would be interesting to visit.

Yosemite is pretty bad ass. It's where I saw my first bear, a black bear along the side of the road. I also thoroughly loved Sequoia National Park.

I'm...uh...reclaiming the term from it's negative connotations. It's definitely not an exploitative attempt to get more people to participate. These aren't the droids you're looking for.
