Except for he might have been racist.
I don't think he was.
Fraid he was.

Apparently, when a young politician "Lincoln regularly used racial slurs in speeches, told racial jokes to his black servants, and vocally opposed any new laws that would have bettered the lives of black Americans."

He was as racist as the people he was fighting.

OP: So, no. I think there's better out there.
My whole view on Lincoln has changed, I don't think...ha ha gotch ya! That may be true, but he was young as it says in the quote, and he still did good things in his life. Like freeing all the black slaves.

It wasn't till he died and became a Zombie that he began to shine :) On a more serious note though, there are definitely a lot better people that have lived, personally I think a title like that should go to one of the leading thinkers of the past :) For me it would be Plato, the man, while he wrote a lot of Socrates work, was a genious :D

No he's not.. But to News casters who say "Obama's win is the biggest presidential win for blacks." Really, I think Linclon wins. Freed the slaves.

I have been doing some resherch on Lincoln and I think the he could be the greatest human who has ever lived. What do you think?
Well, to a lot of the world, they'd just say "Who?".

Greatest guy in America? Still difficult, because you're discounting all the people before him.

Problem is that he's been Flanderised [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Flanderization?from=Main.Flanderisation] so much that it's difficult to tell what's actually true about him.

A pretty good guy though? I can go with that.

And are you really discounting Martin Luther King, The Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, Neil Armstrong, Muhammed Ali, Lance Armstong, *twitch* Bill Gates, Thomas Jefferson, Albert Einstein, Elvis Presley, Franklin Roosevelt, Benjamin Franklin, Eleanor Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, Bob Hope, Billy Graham, Martin Luther King Jr., Walt Disney...

Greatest human ever, Genghis Khan. If he hadn't died early, we could have had a second roman age, with the accompanying advances in science.

From actual personal accounts about Abe he was apparently a bit of a dick personality wise.

As for greatest human being ever, I'd say my girlfriend...
But then again, I'm sure many would say the same.

Why has she been around?

Hell no. He was flawed, just like everyone else.

And he freed the slaves in the South because he knew it would fuck with the Confederacy's economy and leave them running back to the Union.
Not to mention ensuring Britian and France's support for the Union, who were considering whether or not to recognise the Confederacy before the Battle of Antietam and the Emancipation Proclamation.

General Sherman was the badass of the American Civil War. There was a guy who just made war for the hell of it and happened to be quite good at it.

I'd like to propose Norman Borlaug as the greatest human of the modern age. I've no idea who might be the greatest human in all of history.

... I don't quite...get it.
But hell if she can wring some emotion from this stone she's got to be doing something right. Besides, Lincoln wasn't a double D.
But nobody can question the phallic-ness of that hat.

I don't really get how he freed the slaves... i mean, did say: Oh hai guys you're free nao. Or did he go all Chuck norris on the cages and used his magical powers to become dragon and free the slaves or something?
