No he's not.. But to News casters who say "Obama's win is the biggest presidential win for blacks." Really, I think Linclon wins. Freed the slaves.
Yes he did free the slaves but he was still a racist. He was ready to free black people from slavery but he still didn't want them to be treated as equals. There's a quote of him saying something that basically summurised that his feelings were that black people were still beneath him and indeed all other white people.
If I can find it then I'll post it.

So yeah, he did a few good things and was probably a good president for the most part but he still wasn't a perfect saint by any means.

He suspended Habeas Corpus ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_corpus ), your logic is flawed.

It's certainly not Lincoln.

Sure, he may have abolished slavery in the US (not for humanitarian reasons, mind you) but can he claim to have saved roughly 1,000,000,000 people from starvation?

I think not.

Who has you say? Norman Borlaug.

No, even from a totally US-centric standpoint Washington did a lot more for the Country (not saying he's the best, just better than Lincoln). Plus, since this is an opinion everyone will have a different idea. There really isn't a "greatest human ever" it's more a question of "greatest at X so far".

Of course he wasn't, he was clever enough to know how to crush southern economy but not the term "greatest" doesn't apply to him lol

I have been doing some resherch on Lincoln and I think the he could be the greatest human who has ever lived. What do you think?
Lincoln was no less racist than the next guy. He used slavery as a weapon. And forced his partys views on other people by violence. The Civil war was not about slavery.

No I personally do not think he is since it has been proven that Jesus is a real person that did exist about 2000 years ago.
Well, Jesus wasn't just man, so I think he's excluded from this poll.

Anyway, I don't think he's the best human being, but he's pretty damn close. the 2 pennies story is awesome, and someone who gives up his happiness for others is automatically a badass in my books.

No, Norman Borlaug is the greatest human ever. He saved 1 billion human live through the introduction of superior GE crops to third world countries.

Sorry; Jesus already took that position.

And Lincoln was a racist. And a misongynist. And he wore that goofy-looking hat.

Next?

No, because there is no way to name any one person as the greatest human who ever lived, and trying to do so is utterly ridiculous.

Doesn't matter. There are so many shit people in this world, one great human can't do anything. Look at Mother Teresa, she helped thousands of people yet the world is still a shitty place soo..."Could be, who cares"

Even if you could prove that, I think I would count Jesus as a God rather than a human. And Abraham Lincoln being the best person evar? No, not true, not by a long shot. Let's offer up some alternatives, hmm?

1. Gandhi
2. Henry Dunant
3. Norman Borlaug
4. Martin Luther King, Jr.
5. Nikola Tesla
6. Rachel Carson
7. Mikhail Gorbachev (I'ma get flamed for this, but dude pretty much stopped the Cold War)
8. Jonas Salk
9. If you want to get hyper-religious, Adam, Muhammad, Moses, Abraham, Siddhartha, make your pick.
10. Hell, I'd be willing to argue that Shigeru Miyamoto is a better person than ole Abe.

And there are plenty of other people who could have made it onto that list. Lincoln did some good work, yes, but not the best work in history.

Alexander The Great was better, pursuing science and technology while making the biggest empire in the ancient world.

Abe Lincoln was a racist towards Indians, that's why they were left out of the equal rights for all amendment.

I don't know how you could think he was the best ever, he was a dictator, he imprisoned people who spoke out against the war and wrecked the South that some parts have never recovered.
