Don't care about them never will, was gaming long before achievments were around and to me they are just another gimmick not to mention my collection is into the triple digits now no chance in hell I would play through them for acheivments especially ones that dont add anything to the game. Nor do I care for gamerscores don't need a number to tell me how good a gamer I am nor other people.

I like achievements when its like the mile high club one in COD4: Achieving something that will test your abilities in a game to the max. I don't like an achievement when it tells me to kill x amount of some random mob.

Ruined: Fallout 3 - I have so many people on my profile who have 100% on this game, so I thought I'd try and get it too and, thinking I was extra smart, using the official stratagy guide! This was all well and good, but it completely ruined the game for me. Any sense of immersion or role playing was just canceled out by the fact that I had to read a guide every 30 seconds to make sure I was going the right way or didn't miss a bobblehead/skill book.
You needn't have bothered. There's only one bobblehead in the game that you can never get again if you miss it: the Energy Weapons one in the Enclave stronghold you wake up in after being knocked out. Every other one, you get a second crack at.

The majority of the Achievements in that game are "Do this quest!" which was pretty fun. I beat the entire game, 1000/1000 (as you can see by my gamertag), however they ADDED MORE ACHIEVEMENTS via DLC. I suppose that I'll have to get the DLC disc when it comes out and finally finish the game: a second play-through would be a blast.

I love achievements.

Achievements are good, so long as they aren't insanely difficult (like getting 100 note streak in through the fire and flames) or require stupid amounts of grinding (like Seriously...)

Offline achievements are fine, but online ones are a pain, simply because it has people who boost for achievements.

Also, some of them are ridiculous...

In my opinion, yay. Not only do they provide you with a small bonus when playing a great game, it greatly livens up the experience of a bad or mediocre game. They're interesting challenges that extend the gameplay without making the whole thing seem repetitive.

Call me an achievement whore or what-have-you, but I love achievements, and I hope they're here to stay.

i'm all for achievements, but i hate online achievements. there is literally no point in that. if microsoft think i'm going to give them EVEN more money to play online they are very sadly mistaken. it's just not worth it. so i don't see why i shouldn't be allowed achievements because of this.

oh well :)

Achievements are fun to attempt. I just don't like the ones that say "Get 1000 kills in a multiplayer match" or something. It makes those of us who don't have Live feel cheated.

They are a tool for game designers to see what the players get up to so they can modify their games for the future. (So if you ignore an achievement, bear in mind game designers may take this as a sign that people don't want that in the game.) They'll make something easier if people don't seem able to get it, raise the difficulty setting if too many people are triumphing and modify things based on how people play the game.

They also look rather neat. But I can't be arsed pursuing the damn things and I don't play online so I'm neither for or against them.

Moar plz! MOAR I SAY!

I like em! They add an element of rpg to the mix. It's almost like "one more level, and then i'll sleep" except it's one more headshot, or one more grenade kill, or whatever. So fun.

How come there's no indifferent option in the poll?

I don't care about achievements.
If I get any by accident, cool, but I don't go out trying to get them.
If you really don't care then you just don't vote. It's that simple. Really, it is.

I like earning the achievements, but I don't go out of my way to get them.
Think out of about the 60-70 games I've had on the 360, I've only earned the full gamerscore on the Battlefield arcade game.

Well then the OP isn't getting an accurate representation of the community's thoughts.
And we wouldn't want that, now would we?

I like them. They don't detract from the game, and if you're bored they provide a little something extra to add replayability sometimes.
