This assuming the average adult player is any better behaved.

And no, as the mute button is free.

Pretty much what he said really.
I have also come across many immature "adults" and many interesting and mature people under 18. Now if you could figure out a test to weed out people based on assholishness (I'm making that a word xP) then I may pay extra for that benefit.

It's not the kids that's the problem, it's the glitching douchebags...kids aren't as skilled as they act.

I wouldn't pay for it but I would like it to be an option included. I can mute them for free.

If its an M15+ game, as far as im concerned, the underagers should have to pay extra per month to PLAY. all these adults ***** about violence in children when they dont actively do anything to stop them playing the games at 8...

and anyway, ive only ran into one or two "squeakers"... its more the older community which are the real pricks... the little ones just take off from them.

EDIT: i should probably also mention that the one or two were actually pretty funny guys. just cause theyre young, doesnt mean they dont know how to enjoy a game properly... not play it like a job.

I know adult men who are just as immature as 12 year olds. So I really don't think it would make an overall difference.

Also, there's a mute button. Also, there are some kids who are really good at their games, and it's fun to play with them.

I pretty much only play with people i know or people they know and so on. Its a big enough group to be fun, but small enough i can filter out the twats.

I don't think it's the same group of adults that complain about children playing mature games and let them play on them.

OT: Nah, there are just as many immature adults around and I bet some kids would end up paying the premium too and lying about their age which would be difficult for Microsoft to effectively moniter.

I have been with clans that had only adults who acted like they advertised they would, and clans that had adults who were ultimately manchildren. I prefer the former, but that's rare > . >

No not really because I don't have time to sit down and play matches with the little bastards. Besides, the screaming 12 year olds make up most of the online community, well that and unruly teenagers whom constantly spout curse words.

I don't really think it's the age bracket that needs to be addressed. More so the content that is being played. You can be guaranteed to encounter screaming children, teenagers and adults on something like Call of Duty, Halo, Brawl, the Vs. games and any other kind of action/FPS/fighting game.

(Yes I'm generalizing, but can you really blame me when people play into the stereotypes and generalizations?)

I've encountered more people of my maturity level on the adult gamer side of the fence. They realize it's a game, they play for the fun of it,their voices don't sound like helium on speed.

The people of higher maturity levels were mostly on the "adult gamer" side,as well. However, there are exceptions. I've found a few. However,a good 99% of gamers under 17 with a mic are immature chipmunks that need to be taught a lesson in maturity. A good 80% of people above 17 are the same, with 70% of that group not possessing the chipmunk quality.

A different payment plan to improve the quality of the playerbase...

Funny how many people like the idea when it's specific to age and costs the average consumer more and scream bloody murder when it's a generic system improving the playerbase for everyone and only costing more for the people causing problems.

I voted no because gating by age is a terrible solution. Age difference is one of a huge number of problems contributing to the issue and better solutions exist that get at more or less all of them at once.

Nope. There's a mute button. And tone of voice rarely annoys me as much as the abuse that gets hurled anyway. Though I might be in favour of a system that uses the age given by a player when they create a profile being used to actually stop them playing age inappropriate games. Maybe.
Too true, however, the age system isn't very accurate because kids will lie about their age, and with the anonymity of the internet, XBL, nor PSN can really punish them for actually being underage. :/
