I have, and I was one of those freaks who took it really seriously (I was talking with someone so they could be my beta-reader, I had repeatedly gone through and fixed chapters in stuff I would soon post, etc). I won't say what I was writing for, however, everything was lost when my old computer crashed, whihc I took as a sign that I should stop writing Fanfiction. So I did. I still read copious amounts, though.

Whats wrong with Fan Fiction?

But no, thought about doing it, based on the -builds flame fortress- Halo Universe.

I used to write fanfiction all the time, especially for my very first fandom, Sailor Moon. (Make fun all you like, I don't care. Magical girls FTW.) Unfortunately, I've since fallen out of the ability to write well, (I just don't have the patience or time for it anymore), which kind of sucks since I'm constantly BRIMMING with ideas for fics, but c'est la vie.

Never have. I prefer writing about my own ideas. I might use concepts or draw inspiration from settings or ideas in the original work.

I hate those fan-fiction people, who normally smell like B.O. and normally include themselves in their own fan-fiction. . .

You mean "Mary Sue"s? Yeah, those suck. But you need to realize that not everyone is a Mary Sue. There are some good fanfics out there. And not all of them are yaoi!

On a related note, I think fan-fic writers have no right to complain about franchises being bastardized, because no one bastardizes a franchise more then it's fans esp. those who write fan fiction.

Yes, I've written plenty of fan-fiction over the last six years or so. Most of it, especially the earlier stuff is pretty cringe-worthy, if not that bad considering how old I was when I wrote it, but some of the stuff I've written is pretty decent, judging from what other people who've read it have said.

I havn't properly sat down and wrote anything of any length for quite a while now, but this is more due to writer's block than any disinterest in writing something else. I've actually got several rough outlines laid out for Warhammer 40,000 fanfics at the moment, and I'm pretty sure I could make a decent job of it, since my writing skills have definitely improved since I last seriously sat down and wrote anything.

I know a lot of people look down on fanfiction, and it's true a lot of it IS utter rubbish, but there IS also worthwhile stuff out there and I find that writing fanfiction is great practice for moving on and starting your own original works (which I've also got several ideas floating around for, though nothing really solid as of yet).

I've thought about writing some but I'm just not skilled enough to pull it off without it sucking worse than a black hole.

Though I know a friend online who's really good at it though.

No unless you count a story I wrote as a little kid about a day where it started raining Pokeballs. I would never consider writing a fan fiction... and even if I did it would be my own private fan fiction and no one would ever read it.

I have, but my number one rule was to always stick with the source, and try not to make original characters unless the original cast is gone or just a set of minor characters, or if the series frequently adds extra characters to the cast. (Not to a Sonic degree. I wouldn't write anything Sonic related out of fear that I may turn seven again.) I don't do it anymore, though.
