I guess this is the general idea:

You're an asshole.

But you're not wrong.

You're just an asshole that's right.

So you're this guy by my logic.

Hopefully you won't come across a similar situation and people will think about the asshole issue.

Having no sympathy for those who do stupid things, that's alright. Having no sympathy or any attempt to not hurt the feelings of someone who has just had their friends killed/put into a coma, that's being a bad person.

If drunk driving leads to the death of the drunken driver, I consider it only a natural consequence of said driver's stupidity and would tell him to dig his own way out of it.

Roads are bad, and they're spending money on fuel when the roads are bad and they shouldn't bother wasting the money, they were drunk in the middle of the morning/day, more money wasted.

other people are asked to compensate for their sillyness? more money wasted.

meh.. I suppose its a bit stupid doing that, drink driving in general is.. I wouldn't donate money openly but as I live in the UK with the NHS I suppose I wouldn't paying taxes to make sure these people don't die..

So I suppose if the alternative is they die then I'd say you're bad..

No one really deserves death in my opinion. Still, I can't find good reason to prevent stupid people's actions from catching up with them. Maybe it would have simply been best to lie here. Claim you have no money and not insult the dead and/or critically wounded. If you need aid with that, imagine someone stabs you and sends their buddies to the hospital to laugh at you and say you deserved it for not walking out of the house in a full suit of chain mail.

In just about any other situation I'd say yes, but these girls were drunk (At 11 fucking AM) and they were driving in horrendous weather conditions at the same time, they deserve little sympathy. It sucks that the one girl died, but people need to pay for their own stupdity themselves, not ask others to do it for them.

The girls are idiots, no doubt about that but this is about showing respect for the people who are suffering because friends/loved ones are in hospital or dead.

You should have kept your opinion to yourself.

I would have simply said ' Natural selection for you', and then slammed the door closed on them.

no your not wrong to say no, maybe a bit insensative to express your opinion in that manner but drunk driving is a crime and theres no reason you should have to pay up for the city to have whatever it is they crashed into fixed AND to get them fixed up as well because it was there fault.

Nah, you're not a bad person. It may not have been a good idea to say out loud but you are right. They made a stupid decision and now they are paying for it.

You aren't a bad person but at the same time you aren't a good person. If you were bad that would be more like if you had laughed at the fact that people got hurt or found some kind of pleasure in it. A good person would have given money to them in order to help pay the medical bills. You are more on a neutral scale as your decision wasn't based on spite or kindness but instead a rational train of thought.

Do you know the girls? If not, then it's hardly your problem. And reading what you said carefully, the friend who came collecting wasn't offended by your bluntness, she was pissed that you wouldn't give her any money. If she'd told me that I was selfish I would have gone "look *****, you have a lot of nerve calling me selfish when you're coming around with your hat out asking me for money. How do I even know you're not just making this shit up to rip me off? Get off my doorstep before I call the police."

No, you're not a bad person. She doesn't have the right to call you selfish just because you won't donate to an honestly rather dumb cause. You WERE a bit rude to her, but considering her reaction I don't think it was a problem. You're right after all.

Christ man, you practically said "they deserved it", just because they made a stupid mistake doesn't mean they deserve to die, think of their family.

No. You shouldn't have to shell out your hard-earned cash for someone else's stupidity. It is their fault. However, it won't win you many friends to say so.
