It's. A. Figure. Of. Speech. That spelt out enough? It's used to show that he doesn't like something many, many others have praised. Of course it's not bloody literal.
Oh, it is. And "you're never the only one" is an appropriate and, I would say, the correct response to it.

Also, no need to spell anything out, I can read without the visual help, thank you.

Unless you can read Braille, I swear visual help is sorta needed to read. Just throwing that out there

I didn't hate, I just didn't like it either.

It was GTA4 without the buildings and the cars, and with a doormat as the protagonist.
At least it had a lot more to do than GTA4, where all you could do is buy new clothes and eat lots of burgers. And go see GREAT AMERICAN TIIIITIES!!!! Fuck you Roman.
RDR had alot more to do, but none of it was fun. Sure, you could skin animals and rob banks, but for what purpose?

I'm not the biggest fan of GTA4, but atleast you could go on a nice little rampage everytime you got bored of the story missions. You could have police chases and perforate their front window with your Uzi as you race across the highway, you could whip out your bazooka and blow up cars, you could steal helicoptors and skydive off of buildings, you could create explosive chainreactions by blocking traffic with a burning car.

Maybe I'm missing some fundamental aspect in RDR, but that game felt empty and flat.

It gets so much praise but I really hate it. I'll weigh up the pros and cons.

PROS -
- It was a little fun I guess.
- The game world is beautiful.
- The ending was incredible.
- The characters seemed human.

CONS -
- Most of the time I'm playing it and when I'm not playing it I don't want to touch it with a 10ft pole.
- Glitches and bugs.
- While the characters were pretty fleshed out and human, that doesn't mean they aren't unlikeable pricks.
- This may be a misunderstanding but the ending made no sense, why did the army come after him? He did what he was told to do.
- I usually like travel time such as in Just Cause 2 but the travel in this game was excruciating.
- It might be different if I played Red Dead Revolver but I really couldn't give two shits about John Marston.
-Combat mechanics are pretty terrible.

Your cons:
I sort of agree on entry. I don't pick this up nearly as often as other open world titles. Part of it's the mechanics, part of it's the community, and part of it's how little there is to do once you beat it.

I've never understood why characters need to be likable. Marston struck me as equal to most Western protagonists in terms of likability. Not very, but he doesn't need to be. Nor do the other characters.

The Ending: They were never going to let an outlaw go in the first place. I could go into more detail, but it would mandate spoiler tags. You notice how they ran with the tag "Outlaws to the End?" Kinda muddled by the fact they called the free DLC the same thing, but it's kind of a clue.

Travel Time: This is one of the games I doin't mind the travel time, but there's fast travel. Get the cam site andyou can travel just about anywhere.

RDR was more compelling than most game stories I've played. It's no Mass Effect, but it's totally compelling. And I didn't like Marston either. Didn't have to.

Nice try at being literal, but sight is needed to read, visual help/aid is not.

If I can see a blue rectangle, I don't need the visual aid of text saying *this is blue*.

EDIT: For relevance; We can read the figure of speech sentence, we don't need full stops to emphasize it.
Oh no, don't worry. Was just having a little fun, I realise it made little sense. Anyway, imma not reply anymore since i'm heading out and it prevents this from going off topic.

1. You're never the only one.

2. I don't hate it. But it's overrated. It's about as imperfect as games get, the world is not that interesting and John Marston is the sole reason I refuse to take any award shows this year seriously - he is not Best Character. Especially next to the Heavy Rain crew.

He is your typical Rockstar protagonist, minus any brains whatsoever.
What? To me he's one of the better R* characters, really, it's refreshing to see something different than the avarage "Raahr!" soldier type. And although he share similarities with Niko Bellic, you can't say he's a typical Rockstar protagonist. Just like you can't claim it's typical of me to sing in the shower because I did it twice, no matter how much you may dislike it^^

Well it's all opinions I suppose :/ I loved the game, the ending was the best one yet, I've never before seen such an incredible ending.

He is the "Raahr" soldier type. Except that he threatens everyone he then happily works for.

Tommy Vercetti was the same. Niko Bellic was the same. Hell, I could even say Jimmy Hopkins was the same.

But they were all likeable. I did not like John Marston. That's my opinion and all, but I just didn't.

- Not a con, just a random statement of your opinion.
- Valid point.
- I disagree. Some were. Some weren't. I enjoyed the world and story in its entirety anyhow.
- You're contradicting yourself.
- Fast travel. Use it.
- John Marston isn't in Red Dead Revolver.

Nope.

I felt that the world was too boring and empty.

Immersive, yes. But very boring...And a terribly generic soundtrack.

There was nothing to do in the world that interested me. Hunting? No. Random stupid events repeated endlessly? No.

It also lacked the constant, dripping satire that I've come to love from Dan Houser's writing.

RDR was a flawed gem, you can see the frayed edges where they ran out of time with it, especially post mexico when the pacing goes fuckall crazy. Certain plot threads were never revisted
Landon Ricketts, and 'I know you' guy (Pst, it was the devil)
, and while the ending was expected, the post ending ending where
John's Son comes back to get revenge.

was very unsatisfying considering what it was supposed to be.

I also felt the music was weak compared to Red Dead Revolvers, but thats just me.

Never the less it was a very good game with a flawed and complex protagonist who WASN'T perfect and never claimed to be, but that was what made John endearing- he said all along he was a bad man - he realized the very fact that killing was as easy as breathing for him made him a less then optimal human being. But he did the best he could in the end, and depending how you played him, arguably more them made up for his past by being a goddamn hero to alot of people.'There are no riders on white horses', was the point.

I thought we got rid of these stupid fucking threads...

Cool. You have an opinion that isn't likely to be shared by the majority of people. That does not make you the only one though.

My CON list is different but I still hate the game.

It's grind fest at times, MMO style grind aswell (collect 100 flowers, collect a million badger furs).

The game has lucked based games, were luck is based on how much you gamble. Bet high and theres almost no chance to win.

There are little annoying animations throught the game, such as quick travel thing, everytime you use it, it is slowed down by him sitting down then when you select the location you see him kicking out the fire. (minor thing but why have quick travel slowed down?)

The guns were exactly the same, with the odd stand out gun. You were given about 10 pistols but only 1 or 2 had any noticable difference (mainly in power), same with rifles.

The horses were little fuckers, you would call it and it would run past you, so you ran over and it walked away.

Personally, I found the story boring as hell. The way it was told was fucking annoying aswell, your forced to ride with these fuckers for 5 mins, all the time there talking bollocks and when you finally get there a cut scene tells you what you have to do.

Why didn't they just do that on the ride there? It would have saved me time or are they just trying to stretch the game out with it?

So.... basically you think the game is shit because

a) You didn't understand the story

b) You didn't like it therefore it must be crap

If I were to criticise this game I would sooner focus on the shitty controls, the turning circle with a circumference the size of that actress from Precious, the vast amounts of nothing to do in the giant desert, the repetitious missions, the endless grinding, the cougars, and the horrendous on-rails missions.

One of the few Rockstar games I really enjoy. I tried to play the GTA series but never could get into it or finish them.
