I like the atmosphere and feel of the first game more, but the gameplay and variety of the second make it a huge improvement overall.

AC2 was fun and hell, i'm currently doing my third run on it. It's a good game. It improved the gameplay massively and made it less more-or-less repetitive than the first.

Never the only person but I can't see how anyone could like the first one better than the second.

Obligatory sarcastic remark about how out of the 8 million people who bought AC1 and two that yes you are the only one who liked the first better.

One was fun for the first hour or 2.
Once you realize all the cities are identical, all the missions play exactly the same, and all the characters behave exactly the same, theres no reason to keep playing. At all.

That's not being sarcastic either. The last sequence is nearly identical as the second, and third, and fourth, etc.

Two is the superior game in every way.

Except for the charterer in my opinion, Altiar is much cooler.

I more or less agree. I think ezio was cool, but they added way too much with the income/money ect. thing. I like both games, but creed one for me had a better feel and was more of an assasination game. I agree with you when you say the second felt morelike a conquistador than an assasin.

I preferred the second because of more vareity, but I absolutely hated Ezio more than any character Ive ever played. I dont know what it was, but something about him pissed me off.

I'll admit that AC1 has it's charm, but AC2 did almost everything better.
The only thing AC1 did better was the boss fight.

i really loved the assassinations in the first game. the second didn't give me that feeling of accomplishment. that being said, i did not play these games the way you are "supposed to"

movement: you're supposed to move quietly through the streets. i either free roamed along the rooftops jumping on every archer i found and hurling his body into the streets below, or i ran through the streets tackling every civilian and killing every guard who looked at me funny

assassinations: you're supposed to plan out your assassination and take them down carefully, without getting caught until you've done the deed. the only targets i ever approached with stealth were the ones in acre. the rest got the sword before i went in for the kill.

i'm pretty impartial between the two, but the second was a better built game

Not the only one, but definitely in the minority.

The first wasn't bad per se, but it was so empty, there was no character development, the story was pretty flat, etc.

It wasn't even difficult enough to assassinate someone from a metre away. AC2 took the right step and made the assassination your reward, not the entire task.

I adored the first game, but I just cannot stand the second. I tried my best to like it, but the setting and Ezio himself where so off putting. As well as that they took out everything people hated from number 1, which incidentally was everything that made me love that game.

The 2nd one has more gameplay elements. But the first one had more stealth, and more chances to actually be an assassin and not just a killer with a sword.
i didnt like a lot of the ac2 added elements because they consisted of running around gathering feathers, delivering letters, racing and real estate.

I've played both games and I honestly like the 1st one better. I hate all the RPG elements they added and I feel more like a conquistador than an assassin. The time period of the first game was so much better, and the money, and houses and all that other crap in the second is BS. And come on, Altair is so much better.
I have to ask

where's the "I don't like either" button?
and the "where's the DS version" button?

I too prefer Assassin's Creed 1 before the second one. I liked Altair better than Ezio, the character of Al Mualim and the story in general. Yeah, dark ages over Renaissance any day. I've beat Assassin's Creed 1 three times and I intend to do it again and that is not something I'd like to do with the second one.
OP sorry, you are not the only one.
Yay! Finally!
^_^ *hi5s you*

And now I feel like playing it again...
i liked the game much better than ac2 but it didnt have as much replay value to me.
