Well thats kind of cheating, because Season 1 of Heroes is the only season that should be watched :p. The writers strike over here killed that show. Sad too, it had such promise. I'd like to see the last three years or so forgotten, lol.

But speaking seriously, yeah I'd prefer they did something like this, but it seems that whenever a station gets ahold of a property now, they have to completely remake it. I'd like to see it shown over here, even if I don't have an antenna or cable.

Doctor Who by Michael Bay

The TARDIS becomes a sports car and travels back through time, suffers a malfunction and destroys the CANON time line. The Dalek are now Decepticons, and The Doctor finds himself in a world of Sparkly Vampires and Werewolves.

Lots of explosions and English people played by Americans.

My immediate thought was in fact, Michael Bay, where he carries around a "Sonic Rocket Launcher"... BOOM!

i love how the brits here are getting all defensive and insulting americans for no damn reason.

personally, i would want him to stay british, just because i dont agree with the idea that americans should be subjected to massive character changes to accommodate supposed tastes

they never even give these kinds of things a chance, studios simply assume americans cant identify with people who arent americans, and it leads further to people hating americans for not being accepting of others

hell, hugh grant is loved here, so it cant be some BS like accents, british TV is popular (python mostly), so it cant be the humor, and any bit of wackiness cant be an excuse, because we all love quentin tarantino.

its simply the studio heads being "safe".
though it could also be that getting an american is easier than a getting a brit (in america) and that alot of americans are turned off by the poor video quality and cinematography of most british tv (which would explain why dr who is on syfy, and not fox)
seriously, dont even argue that last point, you know its true, american studios just have alot more money to work with, so by the standards set forth by shows like dexter, 24, or the shield just make dr who look dated.

It's the same way I felt when I heard they freaking DUBBED The Castle [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118826/], an Australian movie, for an American release because "the accents were too thick and it was too Australian". I wanted to puke.
wait, what? i dont recall the complaints for "crocodile dundee" being that he had an accent
america's favorite foreigner was steve irwin ffs

eddie izzard always creeps me out, not because of the whole crossdressing thing, but because of the makeup...it just looks weird, cause he puts too much on.

he also has the ability to morph into other people, like jude law. it took me a year to realize that he was the guy from the riches

They dubbed over every character in Mad Max too... every character but the bad guy.

i hate iran, but it doesnt mean i dont sympathize with the people
i cant stand britain (well, nowadays at least) but im cool with the british
and france...well i kinda like certain things in france

point being, i dont hate you because of where you come from, i hate you because you are stupid enough to hate me because im american. and i REALLY hate stupid people...they fill me with the rage of a thousand suns, and make me want to reprogram their brains to not be shit.

So I heard of a freind that an american company wants to make a new doctor who.
What are your thoughts on this?
I think it and he should stay british for 2 reasons Red dwarf and why would he suddenly change after what is 47 years?
What about shameless lol i spoke to one american lad and he claims we copyed off him on the idea. "because we thought of it first" even though were on the 7th series ¬¬ why did i bring up the point on shameless cause it was the greatest drama till dw came along :D.

Anyway back on point well the americans had a hand in the 8th doctor and they fucked that up.

British tv shows for british people.

Yeah...it's been said already. They can't remake it into an American series. With the exception of a few, all the American shows seem to include violence just to keep peoples' attention, when the Doctor gets out of his problems by talking at them or running away, something which I'm sure isn't badass enough to be a role model in America.

I don't think Doctor Who would go well if it was Americanised, some programmes survive the process, like the office but they don't have such a british feel to them, I mean what would the TARDIS be. Something in the vein of torchwood might work though.

How is Red Dwarf a reason?
Red Dwarf was a British sitcom that was remade into an American version which flopped...heavily.
I didn't know they remade it.
oh they did, and it was good but it wasn't at the same time. It was very American sitcom-y so it was slightly cheesy. If I remember rightly its up on Google video, i'll throw ya the link if ya want.

I think we hate the Americans more.

And now thanks to this thread I'm having flashbacks to the US Red Dwarf pilots. God they were bad.
