Where is the mention of Australia, we were brave too!?!

Also I hear the whole thing that "America saved everyones ass in WW2" I honestly don't think America should be bragging about that, they put off their involvement in the war for so long when they did finally help a ton of people were already dead.

Cause we DID win it. Britain would have feel hard if we had not aided. Japan would have taken over all of China, and Germany would have beaten Russia. The non blissful ignorance in your statement is unsupported and downright silly. I offer you proof America won the war with trade and skill.
Russia didn't win the war in Europe..-- Not tactically or militarily. They just did the dying in the East while the Western Front did the real damage.
Via Lend-Lease Act is was because of the US the USSR was even ABLE to fight:
USA gave USSR:
80% of all canned meat.
92% of all railroad locomotives, rolling stock and rails.
57% of all aviation fuel.
53% of all explosives.
74% of all truck transport.
88% of all radio equipment.
53% of all copper.
56% of all aluminum.
70% of all automotive fuel.
74% of all vehicle tires.
32% of all armored vehicles.
44% of all combat aircraft
---------------
Russians should count their lucky stars because of U.S and U.K. bombing runs--
Perhaps you do not understand that nearly 2 million men were involved in the defense of the Reich against the USA and UK strategic bomber offensive?
75% of the Luftwaffe fighter arm was tied down defending German industry.
40% of all artillery ammunition was allocated to anti-air defense of Germany.
As a result of bombing, the Germans produced 55% less armor than they projected. 41% fewer aircraft (82% of that were fighters) and over 40% fewer trucks.
The Soviet Union began the war as an ALLY of Germany. They signed the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact on 2 August 1939 which green-lighted Germany's attack on Poland, and then invaded Poland in concert with Germany. The USSR then continued to sell Nazi Germany lots of nice resources, including the oil the Nazis desperately needed, right up until 22 June 1941.
In 1939, the USSR was one of the "criminals". The fact that they "turned state's evidence" in June 1941 and suffered horrendous casualties doesn't obviate the fact that they were NAZI ALLIES for 21 months.

Does Europe not teach about the Pacific Campaign in their schools?
In great Detail.
It's interesting how...the most vocal individuals from said regions, tend to think WW2 existed solely in Europe. But, I'll take your word for it. Have no reason to believe the rejects on this forum are any indication of the English/European majority.
I am actually writing an essay on the most decisive move the allies ever made.
Operation Bagration, the Campaign which destroyed the german's offensive capability.

You seem to have a lot of illusions yourself of Britains importance in the war. The true praise belongs to the russians who killed over 70% of german forces, and where the ones to invade Berlin.
Thanks to American trade. Check out the book "The Economics of World War II: Six Great Powers in International Comparison" and "Cross of Iron"

On an interesting and somewhat related note, post war a bunch of British and German generals got together and staged war games of the potential invasion of Britain had things ended differently. They came to the conclusion that Germany would have never managed to take the whole country, the defensive line along the length of England was simply too strong.

On topic: Medal of honor, that is all.

This thread is kinda biest, seriously though give credit were credit is due. america was the one who marched on up to the eagles nest, and droped the bomb on hiroshima. I not saying the last thing was a good thing but america did sorta end the war in europe and asia. Can you honestly say you would be happy if america kept to themselves during world war 2?

did america single handedly beat the nazis no. were they a huge element to the victory yes. when Berlin fell the two main armies there were the Russians and Americans. Another factor in WW2 was the far eastern front. The Americans were the main ones fighting the Japanese

Now it?s a common fact that the American army came to aid the allied forces engaged across Europe.
However Americans believed this meant they single handily turned the tide of the war and ?won it?.

How much do you think Americans are bias about their engagement in World War 2?

Personally being English I feel their involvement was instrumental in ending the war a lot quicker but I think the true praise belongs to British and Canadians, but more so the French, those who faught the war from the bloody begining to the bloody end. Their country is a living memento to the fallen, all over and I mean all over France you can find graveyards and a memorials to all the men whom fought and died in that horrendous war.

I appologise for posting within the incorrect threat catagorey
It's no illusion, it's no disillusion it's FACT America won that war.

It's so much of a fact, that every documentary and history book ever made (outside of America) fail to realise it.

North Africa mate. The first allied victory was when the Brits beat the Italians and then the Germans. Eisenhower then came along to assist the killing blow.

We weren't going to disintegrate, without the US.

Russians beat the Germans mostly, the US beat the Japanese. Everyone was instrumental none the less but Russia and US ended the war on both fronts.

Damn there sure is a fair amount of America bashing on this site. Ya know, Americans don't spend time bashing Australia or Russia or Canada, etc...
Umm... I'm sorry but, do you LIVE here?!

Sure there's nothing about Australia, but I can't go through a single day without hearing something about Russia sucking.

And there's always someone making fun of Canada, but that's more like once a week then two-three times a day
Yaaa but I live in england and a bunch of english people poke fun at the canadians.

As for the Russia hate, America and Russia fought in the cold war, so theres a bit of bad blood inbetween them. The english and french dont really like each other because for most of the time they knew each other they tried to kill each other, and all this fighting tends to leave aggression for years to come.

let begin by saying this: i am american, let me continue by saying im an avid history buff and hope one day to make my living as a history teacher (the joke being i want to make a living as a teacher) and i can say from a future-proffesional view that while americans did play a huge part in the war, by no means were we big immortal badasses who one the war on their own adn with no help from others, just as americans we are only shown things we are interested in and most people believe we are not interested in others being the heroes....so most war movies only show maericans and therefor we believe that we did everything. really, in the next ten seconds name one other world war 2 movie that doesent feature americans as the main character....thats right only Enemy at the Gate.
