I think more games should include a black list feature, but one that you maintain yourself, so your less likely to get put into a random game with someone you've put on your black list.
You mean like the prefer/avoid system on xbox live? Cos that kinda... Exists.

have you never had a bad day? and then you come onto the pc to find someone has posted something incredibly disrepectful/insulting/fucking stupid? do i deserve to be "black listed" because i told someone what i think of them when they said all soldiers deserve to die?

plus it adds a layer of control to the web i quite enjoy not being subject to at the moment. lets say i was one of the blokes in charge of your system, and you annoyed me somehow, i block you, and thats you fucked until you buy a new pc.

I don't think it would work, I hardly run into any dbags online these days(Mainly because I don't really play MW2, I think). But even then I don't think it is that hard to deal with people when they are trying to be idiots online, the mute or ignore buttons usually do the trick and I've never had anyone who went out of their way to be a dick to me or anyone else after that.

honestly..just get games away from the stupid fucking matchmaking system, get back to creating your own game choices for maps and objectives, and i dont care if there is host or not, usually there is host anyways in matchmaking games, you can get back to having a majority vote of kicking out douchers

this is why i loved ps2 online, even if you cheated or hacked or were being stupid, insta boot to the ass

This is an incredibly bad idea.

Think of how many people would abuse it to fuck with others. It wouldn't work in a million years.
You're underestimating how cooperative people on the internet can be.

If a Gamertag appears on the site as a "prime offender" , then as long as there is video/audio evidence people will work to get rid of him.

This. Can't we just be content with 'Report, block and move on'?

It would also lead to people nominating others onto the black list for neutral profanity (as in, the person isn't swearing too much, but swears, and he isn't being offensive towards anyway in particular). Keep in mind most of the popular on-line games people player are 18/M games anyway.

This is probably the best idea yet:

-Stand up for yourself.
-Take the piss out of the idiot.
-Unless you're using logic in an argument, don't take anything seriously. Sarcasm can be useful in some situations.
-Laugh at him. Laugh at him especially hard if he gets frustrated.

Effectiveness is increased if there are more people against him.

Doing this will lower the idiot's self-esteem. Possibly stopping him from abusing anyone for a while. This makes everyone happier and the idiots will eventually learn. This may also make the game more fun for you.

there are many problems with that idea. First off It isn't hard to access 3 different computers or get three different accounts so someone could just go on and ban someone else even if the person is bad. Secondly even if absolutely no one abuses it that way it would be hard to tell if anyone in the endless list of blacklisted players was one of the one players they are facing. Even if they do recognize them are they just supposed to leave everyone behind just to flee the one player. Even if all those before it work for the better. How would enough people on XBL or the PSN find out about the site to make the blacklisting effectual.

I love that you want to stop rude gamers and we all do but it looks like we will just have to stick to insulting them and their 5 year old voices.

I suggest making a website to blacklist the rude and profane gamers online. The rule would be simple: If a gamertag gets nominated for the list on 3 days in a month, it will be added. After a name is added, it's up to all of you, the community, to stop playing with the people who are on the list. Reinforce the notion that being rude and profane online will ruin their experiance, and they will stop. I would do this myself, but I have neither the time, nor the energy to keep the site running the way it would need to. Please, post any ideas or comments below, and thank you for reading this.
I cannot believe you made an account to share this terribly thought out plan with us.

I would normally welcome a newcomer, but I'm not sure....
I've had the account for a while, I just haven't posted anything yet, and for my idea.....
Sorry, it seemed like a good idea at the time. I mostly posted it to gather opinion and get a few extra points of view to determine whether it was a good idea, which I now know it isn't.

If there are any rude gamers, I usually use my massive troll skills to shut them up (or keep them repeating the word "fag" indefinitely for the rest of their life).

Or mute everyone. Occam's razor.

It should never be about the form, but the content.

People like you that emphasize the importance of "political correctness" and, ultimately, of form over content, are a bigger cancer in society in general, let alone online gaming.

What annoys me about idiots online isn't the overuse of expletives, fuck knows I use them myself, expletives can be very effective in proper communication, but the fact that most of them wouldn't know a coherent, logical, intelligent thought if it beat them up and stole their virginity...

The only people who care about "profanity" are the ignorant people who think that there's such a thing as "BAD WRUDS!!".

i think it's a great idea, except i think that there should be a way off the list, like ten nominations to get off. and all nominations [good and bad] need to come from different people. that way, one person can't cheat.

I may have used a poor choice in words there. What I meant by profane was racial slurs and homophobic content. I have no problem with expletives in online games. They're just words whose meanings are given weight by the reciever. I more just want a nicer, more friendly gaming enviroment.
