Built for Speed, from Shreveport, LA.

Awesome heavy rock similar to Foo's and Nickelback. I think they're on iTunes too...
How can it be similar to both? Foo Fighters and Nickelback sound nothing like each other, and, actually, this band sounds like neither. They're not bad, though.

Edit: Sorry for double-post.

Are of Montreal sufficiently indie? Because I can't recommend Hissing Fauna highly enough...and Skeletal Lamping isn't "good" per se, but...well...it's one of those things you just have to hear. Like a gritty, glammy, pantsless, disturbed, Kubrick- and Bowie-inspired David Hasselhoff. (Oh...from Athens, GA...just like the B-52's and R.E.M.)

Oh No! The horror! I didn't capitalize an "i".

Also be fair. Don't paraphrase something I said, then make a disparaging comment on that. I said I did not give a damn about social position. I believe I actually put that in straight quotes to show that it was your words. Yup I did, yay me. I never said I don't care what others think of me. If that was the case I never would have responded to you in the first place. Also if I was trying to pretend that was true I might have made up a flimsy excuse to cover why I was responding.
Alright, paraphrasing is a bit cheap :p..

Define "social position", Because I'm pretty sure we are talking about different things at this point. I used it meaning "Rep, what everybody thinks of you as, ect." I'm using it as social position is based on what others think you, so you saying, "I don't give a damn about social position, But i care about what others think of me" makes no sense (to me).
Thats right the horrors of an uncapitalized letter. You know what happens when you forget to capitalize when your are supposed to? Anarchy happens, young men and women of loose morals start living in sin, the economy crashes, the world gets grumpy, all hell breaks loose - and it is all the internets fault.

Social position well it seems to me that you where talking about it meaning hierarchy, your position among your peers in other words. I know position has multiple meanings but the most common one is location or situation. With the context you used it in I took your meaning to be everyone was vying for the spot as top dog.

Almost all of my favorites have already been said, but I'm surprised that nobody else has brought up Belle & Sebastian. They're one of the most well known indie pop bands.

Also, I would recommend Ted Leo & The Pharmacists.

Fair to Midland; Giant Squid
Not necessarily "indie" but also very unknown but both GREAT.
Fair to Midland is truly awesome. I saw them last month and they blew the lid off the place.

And I'm talking indie. But not so indie that I couldn't ever find their stuff. It can be any genre (I know that "indie" isn't really a type of music), so feel free to share your favorite local bands and such. Please also put where they are from.
Hey OP maybe take a look at The Dirty Epics on youtube. They arent heavily indie I dont think but they have a good few songs that are great. Look for a song called the cure by them its really catchy
