the mako missions got repetitive, but completely getting rid of it is a bad move imo. you should of added planes and submarines so we can have a full lylat nostalgia... i like landmastering over geth til they died... never got old.
Just by looking at the polls you're basically alonek1assik said:*no Spoilers* Ive been playing through Mass Effect 2 this week and have found it quite lacking in comparison to the first game. I think from a storytelling standpoint it may be better than the first game but i don't understand why they made so many changes in core gameplay. Now it just feels like a standard cover based shooter with bad controls and super powers. I especially miss landing on planets and driving around to explore even though it was pretty much the same every time i thought it worked really well.So is there anyone else who feels this way or am i alone?
Choices not well represented? I don't know what...?Selvec said:Why? Because they did in comparison to the first game. Example. Not nearly as many side quests, difference between choices are not represented as well. Customization of your character is dumbed down to the point where they might as well have just removed it all. Exploration of area's has basically been shot to hell. Choices made from the first game where not represented well at all, barely showing any of the results given. In some cases they completely ignored the choice made and forced a choice on you.-Seraph- said:Why do people keep thinking ME2 removed too many RPG elements!? They didn't remove them, just refined them god dammit. Everything is still there, but now there is not so much stupid redundancy like the first game had. Complaining about ME2 removing any of it's RPG elements is a joke, skills and weapons weren't dumbed down, and the shitty micro managing is the only thing that has been taken away. Hell if ME2 didn't satisfy me so much I'd be the asshole right now saying that ME2 is nothing more than a shooter with weak RPG elements tacked on.
Dialog was pretty blah, not really any attitude or personality shown, even with renagade shepered. Very litle ability to effect the world around you beyond the main storyline. Stats are all over the place. Inventory system is non-existant so choices of how to outfit has basically been removed also.
Lots of RPG stuff removed. It's a shooter with a really good story and dialog.
Standard cover based shooter? As opposed to a bad cover-based shooter with atrocious controls which was ME1? At least ME2's combat plays well and the controls are good. Landing on planets was mind-numbingly boring and time consuming, especially if you tried to get all the side quests.k1assik said:*no Spoilers* Ive been playing through Mass Effect 2 this week and have found it quite lacking in comparison to the first game. Not nearly as many side quests? Do I need to remind you that most of the side quests in ME1 took place in the same three rooms? And I mean IDENTICAL. At least the side missions in ME2 are more varied.Selvec said:Why? Because they did in comparison to the first game. Example. Then don't comment in them, let people have fun and pout elsewhere because *this* sure isn't doing anything.imahobbit4062 said:It's pissed me off, because of how it has cluttered the forums with threads about it.
ENOUGH FUCKING MASS EFFECT 2 THREADS, WE GET THE FUCKING POINT ALREADY.
I think you'll find you are pretty much alone in enjoying anything to do with the Mako driving sections. What a horrible, horrible gameplay element. While I do wish ME2 allowed for more exploration, I definitely think their efforts in other areas paid off. Side missions in ME1 took place in the same warehouse, space station, or mine and combat was never really interesting or engaging. Enemies would mass in one area, run around like headless chickens, and all you'd need to do to win would be cast a singularity and fire away.k1assik said:*no Spoilers* Ive been playing through Mass Effect 2 this week and have found it quite lacking in comparison to the first game. Really I kind of liked the way they adjusted the leveling in this game. In ME1 there were too many redundant abilities, and by level 50 or so I was just putting points into abilities because I had to put them somewhere. Now the leveling system seems more streamlined and focused, and I really do have to think about which abilities I want to focus on the most. You also level so much slower, that it will probably take you at least a second play-through to get level 30.Jenova65 said:You know what really gets me? Level cap! I mean not just level capping like in 1, where you got achievements for hitting level 50 with one character and then level 60 with the same character. Level 30!!!!!!!!!! I mean what do I have? The attention span of a gnat? I can cope with levelling up you know, Bioware (and some of us do enjoy it) I am on my second playthrough, and it sucks the big one that I have no more levelling up to do right at the start of the game (I mean dammit I might as well play GRAW or GOW if there is nothing new to learn) Too over simplified, know your audience!
Well..... Yes! Really! I wouldn't have said it otherwise, would I?! ;-)AcacianLeaves said:Really I kind of liked the way they adjusted the leveling in this game. Also Thane is awesome.
Equipment != RPG. Really, I preferred the RPG system in Mass Effect 2, it made the skill purchases weightier whereas the old 12 point scale made each point spent feel largely inconsequential.Booze Zombie said:Mass Effect 2 needs more RPG.
That's good and all, but I want more guns, more armour.GloatingSwine said:Equipment != RPG. Really, I preferred the RPG system in Mass Effect 2, it made the skill purchases weightier whereas the old 12 point scale made each point spent feel largely inconsequential.
I also liked the dropping of individual weapon skills. Shepard is supposed to be a special forces officer with several years of military service, the fact that s/he is incapable of hitting the broad side of a barn is silly.
