I am taking AP (advanced placement) Physics B exam tomorrow and it had me wondering how popular are AP classes in this community?

Who here takes or has taken an AP course?

Who is taking or has taken the super-scary AP Physics B exam tomorrow?

I'll be taking AP English next year.

I have some friends who have taken AP Math/Calculus and Physics this year. They aren't too happy with all the tests.

I took the AP history exam on Friday. I stood up till 4 am studying for it and think I did pretty well, hopefully getting a 5. I did better than on last year's AP Bio exam at least.

Technically, every course in my school is an AP course. I think that's also the reason why we don't take regents and finish 2 weeks earlier than the rest of the schools in my city.

It was Ap European history. I think I did well. But who knows?

Is AP like the highest level you can take in high school or something along those lines?

AP classes are college level classes. Towards the beginning of May, you take an exam for that class. If you score a 3, 4, or a 5, you get college credit.

I took AP US History Friday, and will take AP English, AP Calculus, and AP Chemistry next year.

My school only offers a couple of AP courses, but I've taken them all, because I'm an overachiever. Well, not really. I slack my ass off. But I've taken the exams. But the science exams weren't offered to me. I'll give you my two cents anyways.

My advice for you, don't worry about it. Study you material, but don't go nuts. If you can comprehend what you are doing, you are more than halfway there. You'll do fine.

When I was in high school, I took seven over the course of three years. Managed to get 5's in Calculus and Art History, 4's in US History and French, and scraped 3's in English Lit, European History, and American Government.

Thanks, but for me, bringing myself to study is half the battle

I didnt really care about high school. I could have taken then, but I liked taking it easy. Besides the fact that high school was such a waste of time.

Yea it counts towards college credit. So it's like a college course you take in high school...sorta
Taking AP courses does present the same material as some introductory college courses but in my experience they are not a substitute. I have seen many of my friends who have taken AP classes and passed the exams then struggle in college courses that cover the next level material. AP classes are not a substitute for college level courses. For all of you out there taking AP classes, my advice to you is to NOT take the college credit, but to retake the classes when you get to college. This will give you a very solid foundation to build from and you will have a much much easier time your first semester at college.

Some colleges will only accept 4s or 5s though. Le sigh.
