I fail to see how you can call Black Ops easier when there is no stopping power/juggernaut, and the killstreaks don't stack. Not to mention that the guns actually have recoil, making the game much more skill oriented.
Of course, since it is skill oriented, it is all a matter of perspective. Personally, I've never had a tough time getting tons of kills in Call of Duty, due to massive amounts of time spent as a slayer in competitive FPS games over the years.
Black Ops seems like it puts each player on more equal ground.
So instead of having to decide between putting stopping power on all your guns, or using something else and having a damage disadvantage, each player does the same amount of damage relative to the gun they're using, and have the same amount of health.
In a straight firefight, the more skilled player will win, instead of the guy who has more health or does more damage. That is the way FPS games should be...
So maybe Black Ops rewards those who are more apt at the game, and the OP is just better in a straight firefight overall?

all kinds of ways a less skilled player could cheaply rise above a seasoned pro...
That was
my problem with the past Call of Duty games. They were so inconsistant, meaning you could join a game and be the top player, and in the exact same lobby next game, or sometimes even in the middle of a good game, your score can plumment due to unlucky occurences such as a predator missile seeking you out or getting spawn killed five times in a row the second you skipped a killcam...
