The game did not sell by word, it was sold by the shear expectation of an actually exciting storyline since it was placed in modern times.
A large number of the people I know bought the game after being told by friends or reviews that it was a good game.
Yea but that is your friends not the population. i know their is no way i can prove that millions of gamers bought the game for a certain reason but i know it was not by word or hype
Prove it... I've offered my evidence; one that has some weight, unlike yours...
dude just stop arguing with me, it sold a lot of copies by whatever means, and i dont care if you dont like it... just seriously shut up
Priceless, its always interesting when someone cannot retaliate in a reasoned argument and resorts to telling the other person to "go away". What's also interesting is the fact you keep proclaiming your viewpoint is correct but you cannot reply to my answer because my viewpoint has some-form of evidence, your just guessing - Its not wise to message people and tell them to "shut up" - if anything thats just going to make me reply...

A topic isn't worth discussing on a disscussion forum...?

Makes sense; I'd like to see all this evidence.

Please keep this on-topic...if you two want to keep arguing, do it in PM's.

To be honest the topic has already been done to death on several occasions - not to mention the fact it has limited discussion value and is based around a game that is over a year old...

We did take this into PM's already, but since you asked for my opinion on the topic (in a manner of speaking). I also fail to see why discussion must be squarely based around the topic in hand, we are still discussing COD4...

Alright, if its already been done in your PM's, than I guess you can continue here. I can't exactly stop you, other than glare and think mean thoughts can I?

I think people mainly Prestige because they are bored of being lvl 55 and want to start again for a new badge either for fun or to show they have been playing for a long period of time and are more experianced than some one who has just started playing.

I'm about halfway through my 6th prestige. I use the weapon challenges to level up faster and that's made me a better player. The shotgun taught me how to shoot from the hip and how to navigate the maps to get CQB engagements. The assault rifle taught me how to use cover and clear room. The SMG taught me how to shoot while moving so I'm hard to hit. If I never prestiged I'd probably just use the guns I play well with all the time.

That is very true...I used to just use the M16...but now, I never use it, thanks to weapon achievements showing me new guns...

Very accurate analysis.

Prestige mode is nothing more than a measure of how much of a life you DON'T have...

It's fun restarting and not 'wasting' all that exp, but other than the ability to unlock gold camo for a gun, it is kinda worthless, but it is fun add-on to the rank system. Sometimes I found it more fun with the restrictions that you have at a low level, because it's kinda cool when you're beating people and they have all the weapons and the 'good' perks etc. etc. It's all about preference really.
