Your title and initial post make this an unintentionally hilarious thread. Also:

I love this thread, the next rock-pun is only ever a stones throw away...you crag me up, guys.

Sorry...

OT: Kid's heads must be full of rocks, they're always taking things for granite. Mind you, I have not concrete evidence for that claim.

i wouldn't worry about it too much, it's those kids own fault if they end up as dumb as rocks

I guess you don't get the irony in making a comment on taking school for granted and then making such a hilarious mistake.

I think a lot of people are taking school for granite. The majority of students could care less and don't realize it's a doggie dog world out there. Finding a kid who takes their education seriously is a diamond dozen.

I don't think it is any different then previous generations. The fact is that not everyone will succeed in high school. For whatever reason some just don't find school conducive to learning. However, as sad as it is to say our society depends on some people not doing as well as others. Not everyone can grow up to be CEO's, Lawyers, and Doctors. We need people to do menial tasks and general labour. Now this is not meant to belittle these jobs and occupations because they are important. However, how many times do you see someone study hard, and go to university in hopes of being a bean picker? I know my view is a little cynical and pessimistic but it is the way that our society works.

I hope they do, that way when govenments start thinking it might be a good idea to charge for education (or charge more where they already charge for it), kids will rise up in arms and send them to hell.

The title of the thread went from "granite" to "granted", so I assume the original mistake was not an ironic statement, but a real one.

So yes, apparently they do.

No matter it seems how much they push that school is important, it seems like many kids just don?t care and then walk away with their pants slightly down and thinking they?re ?gangster.? It just sickens me and I almost fear for our generation.
Think of it like this: In a few years, these people are going to be your competition when trying to get a job.

Over here in England we have the 'EMA problem' where kids come to school/ college just for there £10/£20/£30 a week. This has been 'solved' by removing Ema next year (Does dance as I'm still getting it next September, my £30 a week that is).

But yeah, pretty much any reason for kids to bother to stay in further education unless they really want to has been removed. But, last year, when I was busy failing my A.S. levels, my maths class was full of... urgh, I can't even describe them. They were clearly there for the Ema.

My self on the other hand, I work in college. I haven't missed a deadline on my new course yet and we've got 4 weeks to the first year of the course in over.

They may be, but, I've been turned down from McDonald's because I was over qualified. So getting a part time job whilst I'm in college is really quite hard.
