Only if you accidentally slip and beat the stupid out of one of your friends.
Also, if you blindfold yourself while doing it and have someone impartial write it down, it just becomes random gibberish.

There is always a danger that somebody with an actual brain will wander past, look at what's going on, and do the human race a semi-automatic favour.

It's extremely dangerous.

I mean, it could hit someone's head. That's why I refuse to play board games. (/sarcasm)

I was going to get one and use it with a few friends. Now, I don't usually buy into this sort of stuff but after hearing a few creepy stories (i scare easily) I'm not so sure. So, have you had any experiences? Most importantly: Are they dangerous?
They're dangerous. I had a friend who wrote Biggie Smalls 3 times with the Ouija board whilst sitting in a pentagram with reversed 7 chakras painted onto them whilst muttering blasphemy against incan gods whilst thinking about premarital sex and then exactly FORTY THREE days afterwards.... they were hit by a bus.

THE DRIVER WAS LISTENING TO "Life after death" by the Notorious B.I.G himself!

OT: No. Its a piece of wood, there's a cool documentary called Paranormal Activity which explores it. Use it, watch Paranormal Activity and then discuss.

It would seem that the majority of people here are adherents of the basic fundamentals of logic and reason, rather than superstition and fairy stories. If this is true, I think I'm going to like it here.

Anecdotal evidence isn't real evidence, btw.
then by all means. go and burn one. and a real one, not this shitty game board one you can buy. a Ouija board is meant to be made by hand from wood.

anyway, all of you have obviously never used one in it's proper way. (and no, i wont tell you how)

it's not so much as contacting spirits as making a gateway into your home. while they may "speak" they are also inviting a lot of dreadful things into your abode.

Stephen Fry has spoke, even if you believe in Ghosts or whatever, you may as well be using hungry hungry hippos to contact the dead.

They're about as authentic and dangerous as the fortunes you get from those little cookies... except they don't taste as good, and you don't get the fun of adding, "in bed," to the end of every line.

There's nothing paranormal or supernatural out there. Nothing spiritual or mystical. No gods, demons, ghosts or spectres. It's all just superstition and ritual.
You. I like you. Carry on being awesome.
EDIT: You are so awesome, you get my 999th post. Congrats!

OT: Basically what he said.

Typical. You claim they're dangerous and a gateway to real power. The burden of proof is on you. Get cracking.

Also, nice touch with the "made by hand from wood" part. "No, no, the kind you can buy in a store won't work. You have to have this SPECIAL kind! It's very dangerous, so I won't tell you how to do it!" Everyone, PM William Ossiss for CRAZY DEAL$ on authentic, handmade, wooden Ouija boards for only $99.95!

You do see why I'm not taking you seriously, right?

Ouija Boards are dangerous in that gullible people are likely to think they actually work, which would potentially convince them that they can actually talk to spirits. Basically, there's a reason nobody over the age of 15 uses them, and it's not that they got scared away, it's that they realized they were totally wasting their time. The danger is in stupid people thinking they're real.

Wait... hang on a second. I remember, my grandparents had one. The planchette (which is what that little thingy that you move around the board is called) had a clear plastic window in the middle, with a nail put through it. The end that pointed down was sharp, I recall. If you broke the legs off of the planchette, or somehow extracted the nail, you could give someone a mean scratch. Maybe even a puncture wound and a naaaaaasty infection!

WoooooooOOOOOOooooOOOOoooo...

*facepalm*

They are about as dangerous as not giving out porridge to goblins during the Yule.

Only if you're stupid enough to consider them a swallowing hazard. However, I can never overestimate the power of gullibility and coincidence.

*nod* Good lad.

My entire family is superstitious, British-style. You know, "fear demons", "fear Freemasons," "fear the Pope's most recent dislike," blahdiblah. I have no patience for it.

Ouja Boards are the most bestest invention ever :D
