Agreed.Baneat said:No but I've seen (Fallacious though) arguments that the fandom is fucking stupid because there's perhaps a decent game but they're obsessing over a minor joke within it. Not so much the game is stupid, but people may not take it seriously.Bags159 said:Have you seen someone ask "how can you like Portal for dark humor and good puzzles yet love a stupid cube"?
Would you be interested in portal if all you heard of it was:
LOL CAKE IS LIE
CUBE IS MY FRIEND
CAKE IS SPY
Or even have any respect for it? If you saw those hundreds of times?
To me, derpy's getting like that.
Fandom does that, and when it does, it creates a ton of hype aversion. I have to admit I would never have thought My Little Pony would wind up being a huge break out hit with twenty something males. Me? Can't stomach the show. That's my opinion. But more than that, can't stomach someone mocking others just for liking something.
However, fans, please realize spouting memes about what you like is seriously not fun for others.
As far as manliness and cartoons, I'll offer a short story. I was a combat medic. One of my fellow medics was calmly playing the latest Pokemon on his GBA in theater. We were within walking distance of Pakistan and were resting between missions.
One of the SFers walked in to speak with the doctor and get some supplies. On his way out, he saw the game. "Oh, dude! Can I borrow that from you?"
Go ahead. Tell an SF Operator he's not manly for liking Pikachu.
