ITT: tons and tons of trolling.

on topic: you disgust me, but not in the "Oh grown men swooning over a cartoon for little girls" way, but rather in the "when are these trolls going to move along to their next shtick" way.
[image width="200"]http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l547/AWearyExile/Random%20MLP/MLPfim_ep0437.png[/IMG]

I'm perfectly fine with people not liking the show, what I can't stand is people accusing us of being part of some elaborate trolling scheme. It's not even plausible for such a thing to be organized among thousands of people on the internet.

We like the show. We don't care if you don't. Don't try to make us out to be something we're not.

OP: Obviously I am a Brony. If you told me a year, hell, even a few months ago that I'd be watching and loving cartoon ponies I'd have called you insane.
see my above post. and If you do not believe that certain groups of people cannot organize something like this and then just let people like you run with it, you are number 2.

So there's a handful of 'Brony Puppet Masters' waiting for as many people as possible to like the show just so they can have a big 'LOL GOTCHA!' moment when they reveal that they only liked the show as part of a huge trolling plot? Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds? That's pretty much on-par with Lizard men running the government.

I don't like the show because it annoys people, I like it because I find it enjoyable. If you think that Bronies exist just to annoy you and those like you that is very indicative, as Bags said, of narcissism.

Also, I find it funny that you would imply that I'm unable to think for myself when you're the one having a knee-jerk negative reaction to the show just because it's girly and sweet.

also, by standard form, I assume whatever standard you and a few people you know have agreed upon, and in that case, No.
One thing. LOL. I think you're trolling people to be honest and being unnecessarily abrasive.
The reason I asked for standard form is because from here it looks like he's just directly attacking you. To say "You and a few people agree on" is the critical thinking equivalent of saying the same thing when someone asks for the mass of something in kilograms.

LOLGOTCHA! This worldwide thing with thousands upon thousands of members is an elaborate prank somehow devised in secret whilst spreading anonymously and freely!

I USED to be a brony. I watched every episode except for the first two exactly once, watched the 20-minute on-crack style parody called PONIES: THE ANTHOLOGY and then... just couldn't watch any of the episodes again. I don't know what to think of myself.

I like it but, the theme song is utter tripe and I could never suffer through it after the first episode. Other than that it is pretty good. The characters have depth, the world doesn't seem flat, and it has it's fair share of hilarious moments and more than it's fair share of memetic potential.

No, no I am not a Brony. Of all the many internet fads over the past couple years, I think this whole My Little Pony thing is one of the most impenetrable and perplexing. There's so many things out there which one could watch, so why this show? Maybe it's that I just don't like horses... maybe it's that I'm just too old for it, I don't know... but whatever it is, I'm ready or this particular fad to end.
This. Exactly this. I tried to watch it, but my brain refused to let me finish the first episode. I don't understand the internet's obsession with it. I feel like it started as a joke, but people actually have tried to validate it's popularity on the internet.

Dude, Manliness isn't about not liking girly things. It's about being okay with when you do. It's called being secure, unlike those guys who freak at a boy with nail polish.
Agreed.

Agreed.
But - there are groups (Hipster/scene type guys) Who deliberately wear nail polish only because it incites a controversial reaction.

And - If strong characterisation is a feature of this episode why all the love over Derpy Hooves? Seriously, bronies just stabbed themselves with this.

Yes. Darn it, I was sure it would suck, but it's really good. If the kids don't like this one they don't deserve it.

Also, Fluttershy rules!
lol bro, that part had me in tears xD

OP: Yeah, I am a brony.
This show is just so confoundingly cute and hilarious, despite being aimed at young girls.
It might be because I like anime and cute girls, but oh wellz

How is the claim that we love a show with deep characterization (REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THIS IS TRUE) invalidated by finding a pony hidden in the background in "Where's Waldo?" style amusing?

I watch the show with my wife, but shes been a collector going on 10 years, so I've always been at least semi involved in the pony community. Its a neat show, I enjoy, but seriously, the above anthology, LOVE IT and thanks for killing 20 mins of my life right there, the MGS at 10:51 had me laughing so hard, and to follow it up with Are You Afraid of the Dark, seriously, this vid just shows why people love ponies so much, because you can parody anything with them and them with anything!

Nope.

I watched eight episodes and while the show is marginally above average, I have come to hate it and it's fan's with a burning passion.

I have never seen a more irritating fanbase in my entire life. You criticize it in any way, and they immediately jump on you and scream that you have to watch it.

Whenever I hear the words (and I use "words" very loosely...) "Brony", "Anypony/Everypony" and "Bro-Hoof" in anything but an ironic manner, I get a strong urge to murder horse-like animals with a chainsaw.

Indeed I am a Brony, mostly because I find that the show doesn't just say "hey this is gonna be for little girls and selling merchandise, who cares what it's like"
The animators, writers, and musicians that are a part of making it actually care about making a good show. That and it has something that cartoons have been missing for a while, good cartoon-y humour.

I didn't say it refuted it, but it looks that way to critics.. because it takes a brony to know that they don't like the character at all, it's just a silly meme to say it's awesome, like the Companion Cube.

But of course it leads to some stupid bronies assuming that the ones that were joking were serious, and it really is a good character. Like, Derpy shouldn't even be on a favourite pony poll, but it got shitloads of votes.

It's an interesting point but you're the only person I've seen bring it up as a contradiction, so I think it's an exaggeration to say we've shot our selves in the foot.

I simply converted similar criticisms to portal fandom. Matter of time

I might just be one. When asked if had heard of the show's freaky success and how weird it was alot of guys liked it, I kinda let it slip that I was disappointed Princess Luna didn't appear outside of the pilot episodes and wasn't scheduled to appear until season 2.

The only criticism I have seen directed at the Portal fandom is how they have driven the memes into the ground. I have not seen anyone attack Portal fans for liking Portal or Portal itself over this point. Have you seen someone ask "how can you like Portal for dark humor and good puzzles yet love a stupid cube"?

No but I've seen (Fallacious though) arguments that the fandom is fucking stupid because there's perhaps a decent game but they're obsessing over a minor joke within it. Not so much the game is stupid, but people may not take it seriously.

Would you be interested in portal if all you heard of it was:

LOL CAKE IS LIE
CUBE IS MY FRIEND
CAKE IS SPY

Or even have any respect for it? If you saw those hundreds of times?

To me, derpy's getting like that.

I honestly can't say having played Portal and Portal 2. I can say that before watching this show I didn't know Derpy existed, but maybe it has gotten worse?
