Navy: Because the Airforce wasn't hiring at the time, and I didn't know how much better it'd be or else I'd have waited. Also, why not the Army/Marines? Because a boat is better than a tent. Kinda. I never liked the Iraq detour our country went on to begin with.Ajna said:For me, that was being born. Might I ask you: Why the Navy?Ignignoct said:It was just something I started doing on my own. It's a fun brain exercise when you can't entertain yourself otherwise; like standing a post as a sentry.Ajna said:You have some interesting ways to remember those things... Is that something they teach you in the military, or is it just your own way of doing it?
I'm definitely going to have to try that sort of thing myself...
The Navy just taught me to lower my expectations and hate waking up in the morning.
It's nothing big... But the Navy seems like the least-respected branch of the military, and I can't think of myself going in to it.
Another question is: Does anyone in your family make jokes about you and your "seamen"? I know I would. >.>
Like I said in the military thread that's hanging out at the moment, the Navy is filled with plea-bargain sailors, wannabe college students (me), and people who couldn't keep a job in the real world. I'm not going to pretend we're our nation's finest, boldly sacrificing our basic freedoms to uphold others'.
I'd say that the Air Force is the least respected, though. It's a certain kind of envious disrespect
As far people spittin' seamen jokes at me: I'm the comedian of my family, so they know if they talk shit I'll either go with it further or turn the tables. Not being a fuck-up helps. All I have to do to hurt em, if I want to, is be honest =p.
