What a great life you must lead, I mean sure realising death is the biggest certainty in a human life will set you free to take much more risks in life and potentially improve the standard of living in the sense of experiences.

But on the other hand, by acknowledging it and "Awaiting" it you've essentially rendered all your human endeavours pointless...

Me? I'm more or less on the same boat as a few previous posters, I realise it's coming, like most i'm all for staving it off for as long as I can and it's not the prospect of death that frightens me, it's simply the means.
I don't exactly stand here with a bullseye on my chest yelling "HIT ME!", but whilst I carry on with my life, I acknowledge that I'm still here every now and then and I recheck my priorities.

I really don't know. Some days it doesn't seem to bother me, some days it does.
I've worked in labs where autopsies were performed and I've seen some pretty depressing shit so I really try very hard not to think about it.

The idea of me dying doesn't scare me but as Aardvark said, ask me again when I'm dying.

I'm not afraid... but that doesn't mean that I don't want it to happen.
I am however a little uneasy not knowing how I die. I have a phobia of asphyxiation.

I'm not afraid of death really. I mean if I knew how I was going to die, I might avoid certain things, or if I knew I was going to die painfully, I would be afraid, but for the most part, no not really.

I don't fear death per se, but rather separation. My friends and family are my life for the most part. I don't even particularly fear pain because all pain will eventually end (death).

i don't fear death itself, what i fear is the unkown and unknowable "after" that come with it. that's what scares me.

plus i suppose the actual dying part is somewhat scary

so actually, i'm cool with death, it's just the 'before' and 'after' parts that get me
That sums up my feelings.
seconded.

as mark twain said, i was dead for millions of years before i was born and it never inconvenienced me a bit.
Sweet Scientific Theory!
(my version of omg)
As soon as i saw the thread topic i thought of quoting this, but you massively beat me to the punch. Also a favourite:

"Thus that which is the most awful of evils, death, is nothing to us, since when we exist there is no death, and when there is death we do not exist." - Epicurus
i'm stealing the phrase 'sweet scientific theory!' - effective immediately!

i'm a big fan of the epicurus quote as well :]

I'd be more scared of the time right before death, when you know you're about to die.
You know you're going to die your entire life, would seeing it about to happen in adrenaline fueled slow motion make it that much more scary?

I'm optimistic about death. If I die (hopefully that won't be too soon, as much as I embrace death I like being alive a hell lot more) I can finally see for myself if heaven, hell or whatever the fuck happens when I leave this world. the best part is I inconvenience humanity the secrets of death due the graces of lacking a "physical" body.

It's really tempting to say something about that, but, I don't enjoy derailing topics, so... let's leave that one alone.
