The one time I was close to death I was very accepting of the fact...

But yeah, if I actually get time to think about it, the concept of nothingness scares me more then anything else, and sometimes I wish I could honestly believe in an afterlife.
I'd probably change my tune quite fast if it occured, but I think I'd rather be trapped in great pain then dead...

I'm not going to lie, I fear uncertainty. Death is uncertainty, however I have yet to live, so life is as well. Clearly, I'm just afraid of everything...

I will admit I am. I imagine it as just sleeping forever without dreaming, just darkness forever never to wake up again. Every time I think about it I cringe and just try to take my mind off of it.
Same here. I've often heard some form of the phrase "Those who fear death cannot enjoy life," but to be honest, my utter fear of the greatest unknown has made me enjoy life so much more than I had been. Granted, it's also made me a little lazy and apathetic to some things, but hey, at least I enjoy it. :D

But I'm still holding out hope that I will live long enough to have my brain downloaded into a robot body. Or something like that.

Half of the people that voted in this poll are fucking liars. Fear of death is one of the most basic instincts of a living creature. If you aren't afraid of death, there's either something wrong with your brain, or you are currently dying and you know there's nothing you can do about it.
We are all currently dying. And if you look into it, most creatures have no fear of death, they don't have a real conception of self.

I don't fear death because I've seen what it looks like. Now pain scares the hell out of me, I've seen plenty of that too. So its not like I go around putting myself in danger to say "I have no fear of death so watch me cliff dive", rather I have no fear of the concept of dying. I don't particularly want to any time soon, but theres no point being afraid of the innevitable.

I'm not really afraid of being dead. I'm absolutely terrified of having to go through the pain of dying, but I don't think being dead will be that bad.

I don't want to die until I'm more mature and ready to go, but I have a deep understanding and respect for death, its consequences, and the positive aspects of it. I like to think of myself as like the third brother from the Deathly Hallows [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR939M48BG4].

I'm not afraid of death, life is so much more terrifying and unpredictable.

God, yes- I fear death. I fear the thought of dying, as I do the possibility of nothing happening afterwards. I don't want to fade away, and let all that I've done now have no meaning.

I'd prefer a literal hell to that.
If you have to exist for your deeds to have meaning, were they that great?

I have a fear of dying, but not of what happens after I'm dead.

I've always viewed death and potentially harmful situations according to Kwai Chang Caine, holding a bomb which he must disarm or be blown to pieces. A bystander says, "as long as you cut the right wire, we have no problems." His response, "Whatever the outcome, we have no problems."

Short answer: No.
Long Answer: No, because I've technically died once already. Heart stopped, body screamed in shock, and everything went dark. Oddly it quite peaceful.

Meh, not really. I mean, not to try to sound like some apathetic know-nothing here, but I don't really fear it, per se.

I'm nervous about it sometimes, would like to avoid it at all costs all the time, and have a rather healthy aversion to it. In short, I respect it like all hell, but do I actually fear it? Nope. Mostly because there isn't a thing I can do about it, it's inevitable, why waste the energy and time I do have.

Drowning is another. People say it's like falling asleep but the whole "panic for oxygen" thing makes me question that.
This coming from people who haven't died from drowning. Unless you hang out with poltergeists, in which case can I recommend hiring the ghost-busters.

...What? Try to run over any animal with a car and you'll see that they indeed are aware that being hit by that car, and thus dying, is not something to be too happy about.

I, like practically everyone else, always try to avoid death, even when I'm not thinking about it. I guess that could be considered fear.

What is there to fear from something that I'll never experience? I aim to live forever and so far I haven't failed. The sad part for everyone else is that if I'm wrong about living forever, but right about the world being a construct of my imagination - what happens to the world when I die?
