My thoughts exactly, I could rage on this thread something wicked just for being so damn close minded about the whole thing.
However, there is one incredible gem of wisdom.

Just because it doesn't appeal to our tastes, doesn't mean it won't be a success.
Well done ma'am for not being completely biased on the matter.

7 out of 8 people said NO. The Escapist has spoken.

DJ Hero has a very limited audience.
Maybe here on the Escapist, but pray tell why I see infinitely more dance clubs than I do rock bars?
The audience isn't so limited, infact it could be bigger, Much bigger.

It just annoys me how the majority are saying 'No! it's going to be shit! they've ruined it!' blah blah.
I won't personally buy it, but if a friend does, I'd love to play it. Guitar hero's meant to be a little bit of fun, it doesn't matter whether you're pretending to be a guitarist or a DJ.
And if a franchise like Guitar Hero is good, why not milk it? Gets them more money, good on them, I say.

My friends a big DJ/Drum'n'Bass/Dance music fan so he'll be getting it no matter what I'll most likely just play it at his house to see how crap/good it is.

I voted No if anyone's interested.

Frankly, I think that it's just stupid. They saw how popular GH was, and decided to start making games with every 'instrument' ever made. So, how long until Didgeridoo Hero?
The difference is, Didgeridoo Hero would be an amazing game, just because it'd be so unexpected.

And to answer the thread, no, one is most certainly not stoked for this release.

I hate every [Whatever] Hero/Rock Band games. It could be that I never like most of the music on the setlists, it could be that I don't think it's very fun, or it could be I think it's stupid to be playing a video game with a Fisher-Price? My First Guitar.

Not excited at all. It's not my kind of music.
I'd buy this though.

How come DJ Hero is a stupid concept but Guitar Hero wasn't?
Because, unlike the guitar, drums, bass and (to a certain degree) vocals, a DJ doesn't play an actual instrument. At least that is what I think. A turntable isn't an instrument.
That is why DJ Hero is such a stupid concept in my eyes.

Sod DJ Hero, give me Banjo Hero or Saxophone Hero anyday.
Banjo Hero. Now that is a game we need. We could have Banjo Duels like in Monkey Island! Without the guns though...

By all means, go for it.

I personally am not excited about DJ Hero, mostly because I don't even know what a DJ does. Didgeridoo Hero sounds awesome though.

People who enjoy spinning their disks and vinyl's will already have a huge setup anyway. I'm pretty sure this wont be selling well.

The reason I ask is because at it's core, guitar hero is a rhythm game. DJ Hero is going to be no different. It's going to be no less realistic than guitar hero, and a turntable is no instrument but it shouldn't particularly matter in this case it's resembling what it should, a pair of decks, and it's mimicking the same concept of scratching and the results of which. Technically it's doing it's job.

Good set ups are expensive as hell though. And think of the children!

NEVER think of the children. The majority of them are assholes. I should know given that these stupid nitwits are suppossed to be my "peers". There are the few that are well-mannered and fun to play with but for the most part, they suck. I'm grouped into them becuase of my age, which is annoying.

You are absolutely correct. But I never bought GH just because it was a rhythm game. I bought it because it is a game which (loosely) emulates playing a guitar, with a lot of music I like to go with it. While DJ Hero is just a rhythm game for me, which I am in no way interested in.

And if there is one thing I hate it is "artists" who ruin perfectly good songs by making a shitty remix. And as far as I can tell, that is what you do in this game.
Artists who make remixes of their own songs is cool, but when some lame-ass DJ cashes in heaps of money for mashing together two different songs from two different artists... it's bullshit! Make something yourself for crying out loud!
So actually, I kinda hate this game and all it stands for. I hadn't realized that... thanks :D

It's as if Activision are secretly plotting to make people look like the biggest twats possible with these games.

Unfortunately drunken sessions of Guitar Hero is a standard at most house parties these days. Thankfully I don't see DJ Hero gaining anywhere near that popularity.
