I haven't pre-ordered it, but I definitely will buy it. I have not to date been disappointed with anything that Valve has created and as it stands, is my favorite company as far as game designers. Valve simply does so many things right that the waiting time between games can be forgiven. Most of the time, I'm regularly playing a valve multiplayer game (CS:S, TF2, DOD:S) or playing through a single player game of theirs a umpteenth time.

Played the Demo just now and I will be getting it when I have the money spare. Single player bots seemed fairly good for those that don't enjoy playing online with other people though I only played with them on advanced.

I went online for the Expert mode of the game. It seems to be very hard and if your group wants to stand a chance of winning you need to work together. Very few games about that force teamwork like this one and I was suprised how well us four random strangers worked together. Then even when your losing it seems to be fun, can't say that about many games.

After a co-op session with Doc, I'm definitely buying this. Hopefully, in the VALVE Bundle for $US100.

Also, anyone else think that the pistols have to be nerfed? Seriously, having two of those things makes you a zombie killing machine... cool, 'cetp we're supposed to be playing a survival game, based on teamwork and such.
What difficulty where you guys playing on? because you really don't want to be down to pistols only on expert.

I played the demo about 15 times yesterday, yet I'm still undecided on if I should buy it or not.I don't want to spend money on a game just to get bored after two weeks.
Well if you played those two small early campaign levels that many times then i think you will be fine.
Ahh but what a great two weeks it will be!

I do think valve will probably bring out entire free maps and possibly modes for the PC version of the game if TF2 is any indication of their community support. Xbox360 users of course may have them ported over but will have to pay for them because microsoft needs its cash. Then if they release the modding tools which I hope they do plenty of other people will have a go at it.

I find it funny that we're asking the escapist community if we are going to buy one of the biggest zombie shooters of the generation... I mean this is bigger than RE5. We're gonna eat this shit up. Just look at the hours logged on escapist group's playtime of the demo. Imagine the full thing!

Oh yeah, pre-loading right now, it's kinda bottlenecking my net since I download so much at once, but right now I'm at 90%

I'm at 69% right now, so at this point in time I so envy you. As soon as that download is done, I'm tearing into the game's .gcf files to find the textures for those damn movie posters...

EDIT: Right when I posted this message, it went to 70%. That's a whole 1 percent closer. Take that, wireless internet!

Funny enough, we were playing on Advanced. Is there some kind of massive jump between the two difficulties?

Really guys, the demo lets you see about 5% of the game and it kept me playing it like 30 times on expert. This is going to be an awesome game and if you ever get bored of it there will be loads of mod content released by then.

It's coming out on the PC and PS3 too.
Just the PC, there's no known PS3 release yet. At least, not as far as I know.
Yeah, it's not been announced that it'll be out on the PS3. But one can assume, since most of the recent Valve titles have been converted to it, that it'll be out eventually. Also, for a source, check out Steam on the PC. They're plastering the fact that the L4D demo is finally out for the public over everything.

There is a pretty huge jump. Tanks appear quite a lot more on expert, as well as more frequent horde rushes and boss zombies. At the end of map 2, I was on the minigun. Someone flicked the switch and before I could get a single fucking shot off, a smoker grabbed me and a hunter jumped on me within a second. They were probably there before the switch went off, but it was still a real dick move.

no money or I may have. I'm not a big fan of zombies, but This game seems pretty cool, mainly the AI and the idea that every game will be different (if that's even the case still)
