I really don't think I am, my rotations seem to go all over the board...

I can start With Tool, next will be Altan, or the chieftains, or some other Celtic folk, then something like " older" nofx, or dead Kennedys comes up, then lords of acid or something, then johnny cash, then Mozart.. etc etc

I admit Im not a fan of R&B, Rap and such.. BUT even then there are a few from those that I have.. cant stand modern country, but I love the old western from the 40's-50's where they were more like gunslinger ballets and pretty dark in nature...

so though I have a few genre's Im not a fan of, there are a few diamonds on the rough

That's ironic. The point being until you are able to comment on the value of genres that aren't... I don't now how to put it... contemporary offshoots of punk? Like them or not, you have a long way to go before you can call yourself open minded.
I am not sure if I understood that right but hardstyle and hardcore are offshoots of techo-music. For example Donkey Rollers and Showtek. If you listen to them you'd see theres not much related to punk.

On the other hand I listen to punk, yet I have a very neutral relationship with it. I don't so much like it, put I don't hate it nor do I go and crucify people listening to punk.

And I might have cut down my list in a hurry, but I was on my way to my aunts.

What I said there is not all I listen to, I listen to jazz and eurodance (only one artist tho, Scatman <3), I recently started to listen Lady GaGa (I know, shush), Billy Talent and a finnish band whose genre I really can't define and that's not even all but I think you get the idea. I am open to suggestions on what to listen and sometimes it catches on and sometimes not. I really do consider myself a fairly open minded person compared to the worst I have seen.

Kinda, If it comes to Hip-hip I shun it.

However, I can headbang my head to koRn one second and then sing Man In Black by Johhny Cash the next. I pretty mixed.

I don't believe that I am narrow minded when it comes to music, I can enjoy everything except country but I don't have a problem with anyone that likes country.

The opposite really, my music taste is sometimes described as schizofrenic (by friends and family): taiko, opera, trash metal, techno, classical, jazz (bebop), psytrance, Spanish guitar, rock, (some) pop, rap (but not 'gangsta rap', well except Snoop Dog he's just awesome), ska, disco, punk, and I could go one like that for a while.
So I'de second this:

It's like anything else, there's crappy bands in every genre but there's also some gold in every genre.
I've heard some great modern country songs, great modern rap, but also crap from both.

But, you could call me narrowminded for openly hating all the gangsta shit that's sometimes referred to as "music".
I wouldn't call that narrow-minded, just sensible. One you look past the "phat beats", you'll notice that every rapper is talking about the EXACT SAME THING. Hell, some artists even sound exactly the same.

Yes I am narrow minded when it comes to music. If it's not rap I probably won't like it and if it isn't rock I probably won't tolerate it...

I can't help but feel bad for people that are narrow minded with music and only accept some types, I can not imagine not listening to all the different types.

I'd say I'm pretty open minded, there's over 2200 artists in my last.fm library. In my top 50 alone there's bands that fall into the genres of breakcore, hardcore hip hop, noisecore, punk, Russian hip hop, Hip hop, grime, noise rock, indie, drum n bass, proto punk, power violence, digital hardcore, doom metal, crust punk, dubstep, harshnoise, hardcore punk, dub, industrial, ambient, krautrock, stoner metal, electro, baile funk, gabber, speedcore, frenchcore, IDM, garage punk, neo classical and emo. Also there's some classical, jazz, black metal, art rock, EMB, metalcore and pop punk just outside my top 50.

I'm gonna dare to state an unpopular opinion here.

I think maturity comes into it, I know I liked pop til I was about 15 or 16, then discovered Iron Maiden (the cover art drew me in), then became 'metal only' for a good 5 years or so, then slowly allowed other genres to creep in, finding a few dance bands I like.

Then I got work in a dvd/cd store and it pretty much FORCED my eye and ears open, and I now like something from almost every genre, tho it's still hard to get enthusiastic about world, jazz and easy listening, although I guess I could drop Richard Cheese into easy to cover that base.

Between the Enya, Led Zeppelin, Billy Idol, James Galway, Pavarotti, the Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Johnny Cash, and even Muse I'd like to think I'm fair to all.

That being said, anything easy-listening or piano-wanky (I'm looking at YOU, Elton John) is anathema. I burn as heretic most rappers as well.

Oh yes, and I like Kraftwerk and Devo as well. AND the Bee Gees (all eras).

I put yes.
I only listen to genres I actually like listening to and there are very few of those, give me metal, rock, drum && bass, alternative etc. any day.
I don't like rap or pop music. They are the only genres I really don't like.
Others I'm tolerent with but won't listen to if given a choice between that genre and one I liked.

The genres themselfes... well lets say if stuff like hip hop isnt targeted for people like me, I think it is ok to say that I realy dislike it.

But what I realy hate are some of the music genres´ youth subcultures ! Hip hop and rap might be the worst...

You know, we were forced to listen to the Bee Gee's greatest hits at work, when it came out, and it shocked us all, apart from the Saturday Night Fever stuff, they sounded more like the Beatles than our imagination of how all Bee Gees stuff would sound. Not saying they're as good as the Beatles before I trigger a huge flame war, just that you really can't judge a band on a couple of tracks.

Also, here's one we're nearly all narrow minded on, modern popular music, we all seem to instantly write it all off as shit, but I imagine there's good stuff in there, just well hidden! Just to be hypocritical, I'm not volunteering to listen thru it all either.

I like to think of myself as not being narrowminded. Keeping my mind open allows me to potentially, or actually, discover music that I don't think I could have lived without, More importantly, it helps me keep an image of neutrality and stunt other people's assumptions of my musical tendencies. It also assists me in weeding out the termites, the people I'd rather not befriend or get to know more about.
