I mainly stay in the rock/indie/electro genres, but the extremes of my tastes are Rage Against The Machine, Rolo Tomassi, Scouting for Girls, Kate Nash, Hot Chip, Pendulum, Santigold and LCD Soundsystem.

I enjoy all kinds of music and that includes classical, hip hop, techno and country. I think it comes from being a bass player, if I want a lot of work I have to be willing to play all kinds of music.

I still firmly believe that every genre of music has to have at least one song that I can enjoy.

Also, my tolerance of music depends on my mood. Sometimes I just REALLY don't feel like listening to what everyone else seems to want me to listen to.

I'll listen to most genres, though my favourites are hardcore, deathcore, death metal, and most of those subgenres. I'll also listen to 70-90's rock, electro/house, Aussie hip-hop, classical, industrial, goth, and a lot of others.

Though the lyrics in a song usually put me off more than the sound itself, I can't stand people singing about how they lost their girlfriend of two months, or how they haven't gotten over someone after five years. That's just pathetic. Also anyone who sings how bad they're life is, that cases a lot of anger :p

I used to be like that, but now I listen to other genres than heavy metal and everything under that tag like black metal etc. I like hardstyle and hardcore music and randomly listen to something I feel like listening thanks to Spotify.
Same here. Black metal took some getting used to for me to like. I still can't really enjoy a lot of hardcore, but there are some bands I really like.

In a whole I love prog rock/metal. Rush, BtBaM, Dream Theater. I can be picky, because, IMO, most bands are good and a select few are amazing. After listening to something amazing, why go back to par [this goes for local bands too]. Also I will listen to a rapper singing about politics, but the one singing of how much money he as can eat shit and die. I also love jazz and instrumentals =D

Things I hate. Pig sequels, winy singing (emo), gangsta shit, dave mathews, sellouts, pop

Yeah I'm pretty narrow minded - I adore classical music so that's the only thing I listen to. I'm not really a fan of any other type of music at all really... so I guess that makes me closed minded. Not that I care, I'm outrageously happy in my ignorance of everything that isn't classical :)

So do you listen to Frank Zappa?

Nope, I believe he wrote some sort of song about a muffin man though.
Just wondering, as he actually wrote a helluva lot of 'classical' music. You should check it out if you feel inclined.

Edit: didn't answer the OP. According to Eggo's definitions from a while back, I'm pretty narrow minded as I only really listen to Western music. However, there's no genre that I've heard in Western music that I haven't derived some enjoyment from, so according to the OP, I'm not narrow minded.

No, I'll listen anything once (and I mean anything).

However, once I've listened to it I reserve the right to call it shit.

I used to be, I love my metal and disliked most other things because... quite frankly I didn't like it. I've become a bit better as off late and have actually started liking non-metal music. Although I suppose this could be put down to the fact that I had never heard any good non-metal music.
