If anyone decides to watch game of thrones, don't read the books first. Not only it'll ruin it with spoilers, but also some changes they are making in the tv series isn't sitting very well with me
Do like me; watch season one, read book one, watch season two, read book two etc. Works perfectly.BakedZnake said:If anyone decides to watch game of thrones, don't read the books first. Thanks I'll check that video out. I'll still check GoT out anyway.TyrunnAlberyn said:Is it a really fun show? Hell yeah, although me saying that might be in part to me simply being a huge nerd for things like this. Is it the "best"? I rather doubt it, it suffers from some problems that tend to kick my suspension of disbelief down a notch if I pay attention to them (not the least the fact that it's yet another show where there are no ugly people unless they're out and out villains, because that is so obviously like the real world... oh wait...).
As for all the people blindly singing the praises of Game of Thrones... this is for you:
It's all good. It may not be your thing if you understand what they're doing, but can't get invested. That's fair. I certainly didn't think everyone would agree with me.Atmos Duality said:The passion they're presenting doesn't move me; usually, the "DR-DR-DR-DRAAAMA" annoys me more than anything, though I understand what they're going for.gamernerdtg2 said:LOL - I should have made that an option actually.
Tepid means - lacking in passion, force, or zest. No enthusiasm, or conviction.
I totally disagree with you there. At the very least, the fight scenes and the island scenes are full of "force", passion and conviction.
But I seriously should have made your option one of the choices.
I dunno. Something about the show just puts me off.
So, a film like, say, 'A Good Day To Die Hard', is better than a film like, say, 'Cloud Atlas', because it has more "action and parkour"? And Battlefield 3 was better than Portal 2?Steve-o Anders said:Also, at least there's some action and parkour unlike "The Boring Dead" and it's things... and stuff.
i was more referring to the cast as a whole, you have the mustache twirling villains, "I AM EVIL BECAUSE I LIKE MONEY AND WANT MORE OF IT! *twirls mustache*"gamernerdtg2 said:Moira Queen is pretty dagone grey until the last few episodes.gmaverick019 said:i like it alot.
however, i wouldn't dare list it in my top 5 shows, but it is some good fun to watch, as long as you don't go in expecting the most intricate story with the most morally of gray people around for added depth.
still, i'm enjoying the heck out of the flashback parts, really cool stuff
The story is woven together very well, and since you liked the island stuff, I'm sure they'll tie in those characters during the 2nd season. I'm very curious how that's going to be done.
Yes I totally agree. I think they picked the right character for that.Soxafloppin said:Best on T.V is a bit of a Stretch but its certainly my favourite shows.
I like what they did with Tommy..
I felt like towards the end of the season, he was turning to darkness a bit with how things were going, I thought eventually it would be him who becomes the true Merlyn, but they pulled the ole bate and switch
Being a bit of a DC fan I enjoy the Fan service and all the little juvenile pleasures they've put in for fans.
also Slade as Bad ass![]()
Yes, from the looks of things he's going to be very important in the second season, and I'm looking forward to that.Darken12 said:I heard Colton Haynes got picked up for this show, and that alone would make it interesting for me to watch. That said, it doesn't seem (at first glance) to be very LGBTQ+ inclusive, and since superheroes aren't my cup of tea, I'd have to wait and see if they do anything worthwhile with it.

-The entire cast generally had some good chemistry going on, excluding Laurel and Thea.
-The island flashbacks were interesting enough to keep things fresh when they really could have fucked up.
-The dialogue is surprisingly not awful most of the time. I didn't have high hopes after Oliver shot that computer hacking arrow or whatever the fuck.
-Most of the main cast are at least half decent actors.
-BARROWMAN!!!!!
So yeah.-When the dialogue isn't half decent it's full awful.
-Felicity. Fuck me, Felicity.
-Most of the costumed fights all feel really floating, there's barely any impact to most of the punches.
-For fuck's sake Oliver wear a mask or something it's so obvious it's you.
-Also Oliver being The Hood. Or his actor. I dunno, just... he seems way too much like a "manufactured" hero, I think I'd like it more if Oliver's and Tommy's actors switched roles, make it a bit less standard.
I'll probably keep up with it, but if someone told me I could only watch one show ever again, it wouldn't be Arrow.
In terms of Felicity, it was just a case of trying too hard to make her quirky and silly which in turn ruins any sort of entertainment and tension. Like the casino bit.gamernerdtg2 said:hazabaza1 said:Okay, so having watched the entire season 1, yeah it kept my attention, but there's a lot of bad stuff.

I'll probably keep up with it, but if someone told me I could only watch one show ever again, it wouldn't be Arrow.I was totally hooked for the whole season. I'm not sure what you mean about less than half decent dialogue. I thought Felicity was HAWT. If she's not your type, it's all good. She's a total geek, but her character makes for interesting tensions in the over all plot through season 1. Wow what was bad about her? Super interesting that you didn't like her!
I hear you about the fight scenes. I feel like they could be done even better in terms of the physical impact. I HATE shaky cam, screw Jason Borne. It's not about the gore, it's about feeling the punches/kicks - I totally hear you.
The "manufactured hero" thing seems appropriate. He's trying to bring the stranded island version of Oliver (Arrow) back into the place where he was the playboy son of a billionaire. It's kind of a weird thing. I also don't see Oliver as a "hero" in the traditional sense. He's human (no powers) and he's flawed. No way do I see Tommy's actor as Arrow. I won't spoil the end of season one if you haven't seen it...
