If there was to be a WW2 AC game your role would actually be very limited, because well... only one role in military (Of the ones most people can name right off the bat) that fulfills the role of being an assassin is the sniper so you wouldn't have a big range of weaponry, plus all of your assassinations would just be a gun shot... ooh... ah... wow... haven't seen that before... But hell what do I know hmm?
Well you never know. His ancestor might be a spy? or an 'assassin' (i have no other way to put it ok. But bassically a guy that busts through windows and stabs/shootstheshitoutof important people. Besides
In the end of ass creed 2 you stab people to death as desmond with a hidden blade. Its like a signature in the assassins creed series so they wont get rid of it.
In that spoiler tag there is information about the end of AC2 youve been warned...so dont flame me or some shit.

Seriously. Eden. It just makes sense.

What point would there be in going with WWII or Industrial Revolution London? A lot of the blanks between modern day and Renaissance Italy is filled in with the puzzles. If we're going back to the past for some reason Eden is the only one that makes sense.

It seems like a leap to go from the Italian Renaissance to the (very near) future, I'd like to see that London Industrial setting that was mentioned. But it seems like the games will be a trilogy, so I guess the 3rd one will be set in the present... er future.

If Assassin's Creed II doesn't win game of the year, I have lost all faith in humanity.

Unless they pick Borderlands, which would also be acceptable.

I think Ubisoft Montreal should focus on making sure the inevitable sequel doesn't feel like as much of a giant chore as the first two, first of all.

Good thing your opinion is informed, or I might question it's validity.
I don't own the game because it's a rehash of the original. Do you see how that works?
it isnt a rehash retard. a rehash is like the tomb raider games only upgrading the graphics and even having the same basic storyline, whereas acII has new weapons new story new abilities and ubisoft actually used the critisicim to make the game better. so shut up you stupid troll
I think you're the troll for not respecting others opinions. And stupid? At least he uses correct grammar.

Well... I completed 'the truth' from AC2 last night, and it just leaves me with more questions.

Assassin's creed 2 is defiantly needed to finish of the storyline though.

yes, when all put together in order, still confusing
Have you read much mythology? It's a little easier to understand with some mythological background. Well, maybe not understand, but guess about easier.

Didn't Ubisoft say AC3 will maybe take place during WWII?
just a rumor, not confirmed

If anyone watched The Truth video i think it answers this. not sure tho
I only borrowed AC 2 from a friend, and didn't bother to find all of the glyphs, you wouldn't happen to have a link to a completed video of The Truth would you? Just because I am curious as to how the whole thing went.

Oh, and I hope it isn't in WWII, I just don't see it happening as a stealth game, maybe they should go on one of the assassins that we saw in that tomb, the statues, or just follow on from where AC 2 left off, and go straight to Desmond finally doing something instead of just sitting around thinking bout it.

The entire truth video is posted above. Do not watch if you dislike spoilers (even I haven't watched it).

you can have sword/blade kills in the present as bullets are traceable. also desmond is in the future idiot, its based in like 2020

Assassin's Creed is set in the not-too-distant future. AC2 explores the idea of a bleed effect, in which Desmond can gain the abilities of an assassin by reliving his ancestor's memories.

I meant the character Desmond relives cannot be placed in the future...
the way AC2's going, he honestly won't have to relive any relatives, they're doing a pretty good job of setting him up to not be a suck-bag. perhaps "future" is a bad description of it, since the game was originally set in december of 2012 iirc, by the time it'd come out it'll be more like "3 months ago" or "present day"

It's been said (by Ubisoft themselves, I think) that it wouldn't be Assassin's Creed without the Animus. So although the next game is likely to have more of Desmond going all stabby on Templars, there are still more pieces of Eden that they have to find.

Each game so far has been set in a time of great change (the Crusades, the Renaissance) so it would make sense to have the next game related to the Industrial Revolution. Set it in the late 1800s and the protagonist could get help from Nikola Tesla (who better to take over from Da Vinci?).

Tesla was mentioned in the Glyph puzzles and his rivalry with Edison is well-known - would kinda make sense if he was a friend to the Assassins since it was heavily implied that Edison was a Templar as there was talk of another Piece of Eden being used at the time.

Edit: There's even the option of AC3 jumping through various time periods in search of as many PoE as they can find...but that could make the game less focused with no main ancestor to base it on...unless Desmond is now the main guy and they only have broken memories from other assassin's to use with the Animus. So the majority of the game is spent with Desmond (and the others - hopefully Lucy will have less fish-like lips next game) tracking down the heads of the Templars (Vidic?) in the "present".
