I went for multiple sport, because, even though I haven't had the time to do as much lately, I still swim. Apart from that, I'm captain of the fencing team at my school and have been doing it for three years, and I want to try kendo when I get to university.

Like doing sporty things.
Used to do football (soccer for the Americans), basketball, tennis, badminton, hockey, and a few others at school.
I used to free run but there are no good routes here.

I would like to see just how many gamers actually aren't athletes. I suspect this may help kill the nerd stereotype or prove it stronger than ever.
Dunno about killing the nerd stereotype, I do mountain bikes, bmx and swimming. Swimming's just swimming, but bikes are all about gear ratios, spring rates, stack heights, head angles, tyre compounds and cadence management. It's about as nerdy as you can get whilst flinging yourself off jumps.

Gymnastics was my one true love. But I was heavily involved with cross country, track & field, color/winter guard and at one point (no laughing please) I was even a cheerleader :( Basically, if it's a sport, I'll play it. I'm looking into taking a martial art but not sure what to pick yet.

I participated in Athletics in High School, and now I am an elite athlete in Australia. I have competed at two National competitions including last years Olympic Selection Trials.

I enjoy gaming. It refreshes the mind between training and work.

though collage has been over for more than a few years, I was and still am very physically active. Always have been.

Growing up, my siblings, cousins and I were put through a " hand to hand boot camp" if it were under my grandfathers eye to carry on what he feels what was a matter of pride in our clan, being as fierce of warriors, as we were scholars...and anyone who is part of the clan chief's direct line needed to keep that knowledge and pass it along.

Aside from that I spent, and do spend alot of time with non sport-traditional jujitsu, and kendo.. and lets not forget about keeping up and spending alot of time out in the woods, and running around parks with my kids having massive nerf wars, and passing on what I learned as a child about various martial arts be them eastern, or western.

so really I think I can say I'm always active, and I guess come from an era where pushing ones physical limits took priority over being inside all day.

I BMX. A lot. I enter into tournaments and competitions too.

I also play tennis, and have done for as long as I can remember.

"Playing" "a computer or video game" for most people is going to Pogo and playing flash games, or playing Wii Sports. But because Wii Sports has "Sports" in the title, it makes them feel safe.
If that makes you feel better, by all means, think that. However, I think the anectodal evidence that can be found from merely scrolling up proves you wrong.

>>>ANECDOTAL (spelling is important) evidence is worthless. I said MOST people not YOU.

Look, You are entitled to your opinion. However, I'm just as entitled to my opinion that your opinion is rather dated, inaccurate, and absurd. I honestly think that breaking out of your own stereotypes (that "society hates gamers" and it is reasonable for you to "hate society back") would only serve you well.

>>>I am entitled to my opinion, you say my opinion is rather dated inaccurate, and absurd. I have the opinion that the beliefs Christians hold is dated, inaccurate, and absurd.

It's nowhere near as damaging as, say, believing that all black people are drug-users who listen to rap music, or that all Jewish people are greedy and bent on manipulating everyone around them, but to assume all athletes are jerks, 'real gamers' don't engage in athletic activities, and society at large reviles gamers is still an unhealthy attitude: if for no other reason than you're basically making assumptions based upon your own prejudices and you're not actually THINKING about things.

>>>Have you seen the news lately? I especially enjoyed the "game players are just a few bricks short of a load" comment, referring to intelligence.

Believe me: you want to be a 'rebel'? You want to be a beacon of free thought? Question everything, including (and, in fact, in PARTICULAR) the preconceived notions that are fed to you by the media. Question yourself always, first and foremost. That way, you can minimize the chances that you are being manipulated towards someone else's purposes as much as reasonably possible.

>>>I always find it interesting how whenever you disagree with somebody they always tell you that you need to question everything. I did, that is how I arrived at my opinion.

Or, you know, just stick to the status quo, simply because it is both comfortable to you and justifies your petty resentment for whatever perceived (or real) wrongs that were done to you. Let's see how far that gets you in Life.

>>>Yes, I might hold a bit of a grudge towards the guys that held me down in the locker room and raped me in the ass with pens and pencils, you would too, believe me.
OK, so I misspelled Anecdotal. Sorry about that. I, like many people, have become somewhat dependent on spell-check to offset my dyslexia. However, if you are resorting to 'Spelling is important!!11!1' as some sort of 'point' in your favor, it would seem you're grasping at straws. Trust me, my vocabulary is definitely as large as yours, and almost certainly larger, and I use all dem big words properly, even if I should happen to stumble over grammar and spelling once in a while.

More to the point, I'm sorry to have to shatter your misconception, but 'anecdotal' does not equal 'worthless'. It means simply 'observed' as opposed to 'scientifically gathered'. In fact, unless you can provide some sort of experimental results to support your absurd statement of "But the majority of society hates people who play videogames, so the hatred is mutual" your claim is anecdotal as well, and actually has less anecdotal evidence to support it.

Furthermore, knock yourself out about the Christians. I fail to see how that is at all germane, however. Did I say I was a Christian? I don't believe I did. Shit, I can't even find an analog in there, other than the cursory one of both of us find a belief to be be outdated and irrelevant... Feel free to go look up "ignoratio elenchi" under logical fallacies.

"I always find it interesting how whenever you disagree with somebody they always tell you that you need to question everything. I did, that is how I arrived at my opinion." Look, you seem like a smart person, but that statement is ludicrous. In the '70s and '80s, you might- just might- be able to make the claim that your observation (oh wait, doesn't that mean it's anecdotal? Or does that point not count since I misspelled the word once?) that 'society hates gamers' was a reasonable, and maybe- if you push it- it might have even applied into the '90s. But we're talking about a 9+ BILLION dollar industry in '07. In a capitalist society, money talks, and that is some seriously loud talking. So sorry, I don't think you actually came to that as a logical conclusion- I think you came to it as one that suited the point of view you wished to take.

As to the bit about rape, I'll be brutally honest: if that actually happened to you, then I would tell you to go file charges against the people who did it, and go seek counselling to help heal the scars that it undoubtedly (and understandably) put on you.

However, I doubt it happened. OH NOES! You really didn't think I would have the guts to call you on it, did you??? That I would be all remorseful for your terrible, terrible experience...

Sorry, I do have the gall to call you on that bullshit-- considering that I volunteer on a sexual assault hotline, and I can tell you that you're not only full of shit, but that statements like that demean the people who have actually been assaulted: it is highly unlikely that someone who was actually a victim would blithely make it known in a public forum; they universally carry a deep amount of shame and self-hatred over the event usually, and we can barely get them to call the anonymous hotline... not to mention the fact that statistics from reported crimes do not back up the details that you provided of your alleged assault.

But anyway, I'm going to dispense with being polite and encouraging, since you have decided to be a pill. Here are a few important safety tips, sparky:
-Yeah, you feel all exiled and shit. Like a total misfit. Guess what? Virtually everyone does at some point in life! It's a part of that mystical process called 'growing up'. Build a bridge and get the fuck over it.
-If you're going to try to debate with strangers on a website, assume that you're bringing a knife to a gunfight until it is proven otherwise, else you'll come out looking very, very foolish.
-take a class in debate, logic, and/or argumentation. Until you do, you are bringing a knife to a gun fight.
-when you make a foolish statement (and everyone does from time to time)... Just. Shut. Up. Don't try to defend yourself; don't try to justify your statements: it only makes the other forum members question whether or not you actually realize you look like a total dipshit, or if you might actually BE a total dipshit.

Harsh, I know. Sorry, no apologies. Right now, my tolerance for emo wanna-be martyrs like you is at an all-time low after what I had to deal with tonight... and frankly, I don't even give a fuck if I get banned for this-- you fucking need to hear it. Of course, the odds of you actually taking heed are slim and none, and Slim just rode out of town. Just go on thinking that you actually know everything, and that your ONE DISSENTING OPINION in an entire thread proves that you're right. Self-centered delusions will serve you well in life, I'm sure.

I haven't played for a while but I'm awesome at baseball. I like basketball. I don't like watching sports though.
I'll play pretty much anything. Not flag football. That game is for pansies.

I snowboard, played lacrosse (best team sport ever) in high school and college, and played football and baseball in high school.
