He did it completely wrong. He should've been invited to Fox News network first, and THEN say his thoughts, and none of this would've happened.

I doubt he was banned. It was only the Bobbies who picked him up who said he'd been banned and took his photo and I reckon they were messing with him. Why would you need a photo to ban someone from a country? Do they hang it up in all the Airport passport checks with a sign for the rubber-stampers "do not serve this man".

If there were threats of any nature it's not that hard to fathom. We spend thousands (hundreds of thousands, even) of dollars protecting the president; banning nonresidents who make threats from entering the country is probably one of the most efficient things we could do in terms of cost. It's not like they're depriving him of any civil liberties or even telling him to stop sending emails.

Shame he'll never get to visit though, we have awesome national parks.

That's idiotic. Getting banned from the United States for badmouthing the President? I didn't even know you could e-mail the President.

That's a little bit (very very) ridiculous. I honestly find it hard to believe that it's actually real. Yup, that's the most petty thing I've ever heard

No it would be for IDing him if his name ever pops up. How many, say Brian Johnsons do you think there are? Now how many Brian Johnsons look like the man in this photo?

Very very few, possibly, one.

Anyway, making a threat against a US Govt. official, even if it isn't a serious threat, will get you interviewed by the FBI and put on a watch list, US citizen or not.

What most here seem to be ignoring is the "vague threats" part of the email he sent. Don't just read the pull you in headline, read the whole story before you start talking.

Jeez, calm down, Obama. No need to start banning everyone...
Seriously, though, he shouldn't have been banned for calling him a prick. If Obama has a public email adress, he's gotta expect that not everyone will be emailing him just to say they think he's doing well. Plenty of people out there don't like him, he should accept that.
The FBI did it.

Not Obama.

Don't jump to conclusions.

The FBI is the last group of people you want to piss off when it comes to things like this.

Threatening the president of the United States, will put you under their eye pretty quickly. Since I'm assuming this is a news source the OP is getting it from, and news source hardly show both sides of the story, I'm guessing he said things that were more than just the disgruntled hate mail he always gets.

So a kid from overseas is banned from the US forever fro drunk emailing the president but people who shout out abuse during rallies are just told to be quiet? (seem to remember someone interuppted Obama's speech by calling him a liar or something)

Complete and utter bullshit having the right to do that to him

OT: This issue seems kinda silly. Why would the man want to go to America anyways? =P
Oh, and the president is completely insane.

You would think this would be fine, aren't we supposed to be conveying to the world that freedom is great? Now there is one huge exception to this, and that is if this guy was making threats to the President or USA in form of aggression.

I dont like our President, never have never will, and I'll call him a prick day in and day out but its very different to threaten his life/wellbeing or the USA's wellbeing. So if he just drunkenly called the President a loser he shouldn't be banned, if he threatened then yeah he probably deserves it...though it is a pretty harsh sentance...maybe he could be banned from being within so many miles of the President or somthing? lol

Well if that's true then those policemen can have charges placed on them. Demanding a photo for fake reasons and messing with a kid for fun definetly wouldn't go down well at the precinct...

Well, in England we call our prime minister a prick all the time, so to me it does seem a tad harsh...

LOL, don't you understand. The Freedom of speech only applies if you're in America.

This makes my day.

re original source, I cannot remember but I saw it on toms hardware a few days later, I fear the original source is a newspaper in England called the "daily star" which is a bad sign for the credibility of the story I was just curious about how others on the forum felt on the topic and I thought it might cause a tiny chuckle.

I'd have to read the entire email to decide. They said it was "threatening", but calling someone a prick isn't "threatening", so he either said worse, or they overreacted. If it was ONLY abusive, not threatening, then no, they shouldn't have banned him.

My guess is the ban won't stick.
