I've come to an impass recently. I'm without a doubt going to get Battlefield 3. However, what I can't decide is what platform to get it for.

I'm stuck between getting it for my PC or my 360. I've gone through the pros and cons of each, and I can't really decide a winner. Here is the abbreviated list:

Xbox 360

+ I play my 360 A LOT more than my PC
+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay
+ I prefer the joypad for shooters
+ I'll at least be able to talk to people while I play single player and am in a Squad.
+ I've played the last 2 BF games (Bad Company 1+2) on the 360
+ Minor Bonus: A stack of new achievements to pad my Gamerscore with

- Only 24 people on much larger maps than BC1 or 2
- DLC and patches likely to be BS-ier because of Microsoft
- No one to play with
- Will probably die out faster than PC

PC

+ With my brand new gaming PC I might actually get better performance out of the game than on 360 for once
+ I've played all the other BF games on PC
+ 64 player battles, larger maps
+ DLC and patches likely to faster, cheaper
+ Despite all claims, DICE clearly seems to be paying more attention to PC than console

- Likely to be few good 64 servers
- 64 players unlikely to much better than in previous BFs, where maps still often felt empty and the pace slow
- Terrible PC community
- Play in complete silence in both single and multiplayer

So I really can't make up my mind here......

I don't know what you mean by terrible PC community especially especially when comparing to the xbox but It seems like the PC (if it can run it) is the obvious choice.

None of it matters really, PC and console communities tend to be equal (annoying kids are still better than elitist assholes), just go with the one your friends are getting.

If that's a con for PC, then it should be a con for the 360, too. Besides, the game hasn't even come out yet.

Anyways, PC. Playing 12 v 12 on Battlefield maps is painfully slow.
It would've been, except that I can't get kicked by other players on 360, so PC loses that fight.

El oh el wut? PC community is the best community there is. Most supportive, best grammar, some people actually have manners online. The PC community actually cares about it's games, while console users simply suck the game they're playing dry.

And, no, this does not apply to every person, but in general this is largely true.

I voted for PC, if it wasn't glaringly obvious.

While I do agree that the PC Community is terrible, especially when it comes to the big shooters like this, I agree with the two posters above about the 360 community. Mainstream online-focused FPS games just seem to be an asshole magnet.

Anyway, if a lot (and I mean a lot) of your friends get the 360 version and can't get the PC version, go with that. Otherwise, just get the PC Version. You said yourself you just got a new gaming PC, so why not use it?

Why are you afraid of getting kicked? Don't be an asshole and you should be fine. Besides, that kind of argument just boils down to anecdotal evidence, in the end.
I've bee kicked for being an asshole exactly ONCE.

The number of times I've been kicked for BS....well, I've lost count.

And of course I forgot to mention that I'm also certain that NF3 will devolve into the basically universal "I/O on Small/Medium Corridor Map/Really Inappropriate Map for I/O" that BF2 and BF2142 did in no short order.

Just going by what you said and i quote:

(seewhatididthere?) I'd say go for the 360 version. I know the horrible crushing feeling that comes when you get a game that either, doesnt run on your pc, runs badly or you know it could run better on something else you own. If there is a "Might" in there it means you're uncertain.

Oh it'll run. I know that. But the question is will it run significantly better than my 360?

Why are you playing in complete silence?

I will get it for PC mostly because I don´t like playing shooters with a controller. Mouse and keyboard is the only way to play. :)

Does the 360 still allow Report abuse?

Also that comes off as a bit of a backhand. You can't get kicked, but then neither can the people who actually deserve it. Seems to come as a bigger inconvenience than boon.

Unless this is an underhanded admission that you play in such a way that merits removal.

Can't speak for him, but in my experience the ratio of assholes/squeakers/potheads to tactical players is so low as to not even bother with. Mute for everyone.

You forget one huge PC advantage, the awesome modding community, which has produced some completely amazing mods. (see Project Reality)

Get it for PC especially if you got a new computer. Also project reality was a great mod for bf2, they might add it to bf3 too.

if you can run it well, then by all means PC. Also, the 64 man severs shouldn't be a problem. Most servers go for maximum anyway in my experience in battlefield. I've seen more 64 player servers in BF2 than the other play counts and I expect that to be similar. The only difference is the fact that there are more game modes.

Also, if you are a PC gamer/play PC games, you won't experience fanboyism negatively towards you. PC gamers tend to be nicer to other PC gamers. Its if you play console trash exclusively is when they get mad (not saying that seriously, making a point)

I have been kicked from a Battlefield match exactly 0 times. Well, I've actually been kicked a couple of times because I was lagging really badly, but those don't really count.

See what I mean about anecdotal evidence? I've heard more children screaming profanity, sending hate-mail, and just being morons in general on my Xbox, but does that mean that the PC community is better than the LIVE community? No. There are morons on both sides, and neither are objectively better or worse.
They're the same community, except for one important difference:

Microsoft made the grave, grave error of giving everyone a working microphone with their Xbox 360.
