You forget one huge PC advantage, the awesome modding community, which has produced some completely amazing mods. (see Project Reality)

Get it for PC especially if you got a new computer. Also project reality was a great mod for bf2, they might add it to bf3 too.
Hate to break it to you guys... but BF3 isn't getting mod tools... :(

modders find their way into almost every game, don't worry about that. Especially if the game turns out to be as good as it looks, they will be all over it.

I'm not buying either, but if I was, and I didn't have to deal with Origin, I'd go PC for sure.

PC without any doubt. I don't have the money to do build the PC necessary to run it and I'll still wait until then to play it.

1: I've been kicked from servers for enough reasons to be wary of any server. Such reasons include, but are not limited to:

- Doing too good as Commander
- Defending myself as Commander
- Doing too well in the Tank
- Doing too well in the Walker
- Keeping the Transport chopper alive too long
- Not being in a clan
- Refusing to join a clan
- Single-handedly destroying a Titan
- Etc.

2: I never counts mods as a "positive". User generated content generally breaks down as such:

96% Absolute, mind-blowing garbage
3% Decent
1% Actually worthwhile, enjoyable or helpful content

And often that 1% is still surpassed in every way by developer content.

3: I have 2 people I play PC games with. 2 for TW: Shogun 2, 1 for Dawn of War. All other Pc games I play by myself. I have 4 friends I play Halo or MW or occasionally the odd game here or there. Thats it.

4: I say "silence" because at least on 360 I can Party Chat with those 4 people while I play, whereas on PC there will be no one.

5: I say the PC community is terrible because they are exactly the same as the console community; except they try to hide it beneath a facade of superiority and deny it.

I've come to an impass recently. I'm without a doubt going to get Battlefield 3. However, what I can't decide is what platform to get it for.

I'm stuck between getting it for my PC or my 360. I've gone through the pros and cons of each, and I can't really decide a winner. Here is the abbreviated list:

Xbox 360

+ I play my 360 A LOT more than my PC
+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay
+ I prefer the joypad for shooters
+ I'll at least be able to talk to people while I play single player and am in a Squad.
+ I've played the last 2 BF games (Bad Company 1+2) on the 360
+ Minor Bonus: A stack of new achievements to pad my Gamerscore with

- Only 24 people on much larger maps than BC1 or 2
- DLC and patches likely to be BS-ier because of Microsoft
- No one to play with
- Will probably die out faster than PC

PC

+ With my brand new gaming PC I might actually get better performance out of the game than on 360 for once
+ I've played all the other BF games on PC
+ 64 player battles, larger maps
+ DLC and patches likely to faster, cheaper
+ Despite all claims, DICE clearly seems to be paying more attention to PC than console

- Likely to be few good 64 servers
- 64 players unlikely to much better than in previous BFs, where maps still often felt empty and the pace slow
- Terrible PC community
- Play in complete silence in both single and multiplayer

So I really can't make up my mind here......
PC, and the one and only reason, which trumps anything good or bad about either system, FPS was made to be played with a MOUSE AND KEYBOARD THANK YOU.

For crying out loud, I'm sorry, but you're the straw that has broken my camel of tolerance's back, seriously, what is wrong with a mouse and keyboard? Is it too easy? What is it?

You know why we don't do cross-platform multiplayer, when it comes to shooters? Because the PC guys would kick the absolute shit out of the console guys, its just not even a fair comparison, the console guys are driving harleys, and the PC guys MotoGP bikes, just not fair at all, so that's why they dont' bother.

forget the 64 players, forget the 360 achievements, BF3 was designed to be played on PC, with a mouse and keyboard. Period.

Oh, and as for the squad thing, just go get yourself a good headset with a mic, wireless or usb or 3.5 green and pink, it doesn't matter, that solves that issue, besides 7.1 headphones is infinitely a greater experience (not to mention cheaper, more compact, simplier) that setting up 7 speakers in what will likely be a bedroom.

EDIT: Thankfully, almost 80% of other poll participants agree with me. Further reasons, you just bought a gaming PC, presumably to actually 'play games on' and, the PC version will be cheaper. There's no question here, PC is the only option for you. Those who buy it on Xbox are those not fortunate enough to afford/understand the benefits of a gaming PC.

Why joypad?

Because walking, running, climbing, stance changing, driving and piloting all are much easier, natural and control better with the layout of a controller and joysticks. Sure, you might be able to aim a bit better with a mouse, but a joypad with the sensitivity cranked and a set of FPSFreek sticks more than makes up for that.

Better graphics, superior framerate, larger battles, far superior controls.
And are you claiming the 360 community is better than the PC community?
I've played shooters online on a 360 (and PS3, for that matter), and I wasn't particularly impressed.

To me, the choice seems obvious.

Play any FPS game on the PC, like TF2 or whatever, with your 360 pad.
Just try it.
I challenge you to not get dominated.

PC. Definitely.
Battlefield has always been a series that was always meant to be on PC. Even though it is on consoles i think it will be one of the few cross console games with PC users in mind. Also if your internet can handle it 64-Multiplayer for PC will be pretty good on the big maps.

PS. I can't use thumbsticks to aim accurately. Mouse is the only way ;)

So you like joypad because its easier?

News flash pal, this is a 'shooting game', walking is meant to be done with WASD and you're meant to look around with a mouse. The latter point, the entire reason this is better for a PC.

Even if the graphics were superior on a console, you would still buy the PC version, because of the heightened control.

Pre-order it now, just, just go do it.

PC. I should be getting a new computer soonish so I can play the superior version. But can someone tell me. I have heard that it is going to be 60 FPS on the PC and 30 on the consoles. Can anyone tell me if that is a load of bull or not?

Fixed for you. Unless you can prove it's better, it's all subjective.

Depending on how this plays out in the beta. I will buy PC if they bring back alot of stuff form BF2, if it remains like it did in the alpha stages then its not BF3; it will become a Bad Company 3. Which is fine and/or dissappointing at the same time. Point is, If im satisfied how beta plays out then PC if not I will get it on 360 on a later date. Either way Im gettin this game.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was 30 fps on consoles, lowering the max framerate helps with overall performance.

Start playing your PC more than your 360 :p
+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay
Well, that's not really an advantage over the PC.
+ I prefer the joypad for shooters
Kind of in response to your response to the people who think that a controller is worse, but running is just as simple, going to prone is faster (push a button rather than hold one down for a second(actually, I have no idea how prone will work on consoles)), and I don't quite understand how a controller has a better layout than a keyboard when you can't look around, aim, and shoot while jumping, reloading, or arming a bomb very well on a controller.
As for driving and piloting, I like being able to take a look around me while doing those things. (alt button)

In reality, it all comes down to personal preference and which one you started with, so this means no one can convince you on this point.
+ I'll at least be able to talk to people while I play single player and am in a Squad.
Third party VoIP programs and in-game chat?
+ I've played the last 2 BF games (Bad Company 1+2) on the 360
So?
+ Minor Bonus: A stack of new achievements to pad my Gamerscore with
That's always good.

Ok then, onto the next part.

PC

+ With my brand new gaming PC I might actually get better performance out of the game than on 360 for once
+ I've played all the other BF games on PC
Not much to say about that.
+ 64 player battles, larger maps
+ DLC and patches likely to faster, cheaper
These really weigh in more heavily than anything else to me.
+ Despite all claims, DICE clearly seems to be paying more attention to PC than console

- Likely to be few good 64 servers
Just stick to those few good ones.
- 64 players unlikely to much better than in previous BFs, where maps still often felt empty and the pace slow
Have you played 2142 Assault Lines with 64 people? That gets crazy.
- Terrible PC community
That just depends on the community you play with. Mine, for example...actually wait, that sounds kind of arrogant. I'll just say they're nicer than most people.
- Play in complete silence in both single and multiplayer
In-game voice chat, third party VoIP programs(Skype, Ventrilo) again.

I'm getting the PC version.

And to your below post, yes, it's all opinion. That statement was pure, solid opinion. Just the fact that people disagree with that and actually have a truth to their arguments at the same time that you have a truth to your argument means it was an opinion. And you do not "win" opinion-based arguments. No matter how "right" everyone thinks you are, there's no such thing.

And not moving any fingers to go prone/stay crouched?
Your argument is a little self-defeating, in the fact that half of the actions you can take on a console require moving your right thumb off of the thumbstick that lets you aim or taking your finger off the trigger to push a shoulder button.

But you know, it seems like you're trying so hard to defend getting it on the 360 as a valid choice that you really want it on the 360. So you, specifically you, should get it on the 360.

Until you can prove that the WASD and mouse is somehow more intuitive and natural to flying a plane/helicopter or driving a tank or jeep (Stick vs. buttons), or not having to move any fingers to hit prone/stay crouched I win the movement argument.

And I would use my joypad for more PC games; but pretty much EVERY SINGLE PC GAME OUT THERE has fucking TERRIBLE joypad controls.

I'm also trying to decide this. I know that my PC will run it (how well I don't know, but I can run Metro 2033 on high settings at a playable frame rate, so I'm hoping I'll be able to play this on high settings).

Problem is, I don't want to deal with Origin, and the majority of my friends play on the xbox 360 (not sure how many of them are getting BF3, since many of them are hardcore Call of Duty fans).

I really do want to play this game with the best possible visuals though, and with the highest player count, so I'll probably be going with PC.
