I hardly see what people's issues with Origin are. It takes up the same resources as Steam, has basically the same restrictions and if you actually play your games it doesn't do anything to them.

And I'm not defending 360 because I think its better; I defend because is not a clear tech or system winner here. If it was clear that I would get a better experience on one console or another I wouldn't have had to make this thread, would I?

Poll is 110 to 18 for PC. Seems pretty clear what we think. In any case, more players and better controls would be enough of an argument for me to buy it on Pc rather than 360. If you for some reason think that controllers are better and like playing small games on large maps... enjoy your 360 version.

I'm not sure why I care as I don't play Battlefield at all..

ok, I'll run down your points:
1. that's no point, you play games you like and you just own more games you like on the 360. if you were to get BF3 on the Pc, you'd start playing pc more and 360 less.
2. I'm pretty sure PC looks better, but maybe you have an insane TV set or something. still, it's not a point in favor of the 360.
3. so why not get a gamepad for your pc? or better yet, use your 360 controller for you pc (apparently, you can!)
4. get a headset?
5. minor point, can only say if it's a pro if you played it on both and preferred the 360 version.
6. not even going to comment on that one. gamerscore is completely pointless anyway.

the cons are pretty solid as far as I can see, except for the DLC bit. you know windows is owned by microsoft too, right? so either way it's going through them.

7. yes, you probably will. and it's a good way of making sure you didn't just waste a ton of money on something your barely use...
8. again, not really a pro. and it just renders point 5 pointless :p
9, 10, 11. yep, I pretty much agree with you there

12, 13. I don't think so, it's an anticipated title... but only time will tell.
14. what? I don't think so. besides, like xbox live is filled with good-mannered, mature people...
15. I'm pretty sure PC supports headsets too. but really, how often do you really communicate on xbox live and get anything useful out of it? I don't think it's a very big point.

bottom line: go with the PC version.

Oh it'll run. I know that. But the question is will it run significantly better than my 360?
Mind posting your system specs? DICE has promised us that, if you can run Bad Company 2 (and I have a fair idea what kinda PC you need for that) you can run BF3 just as well.

If that turns out good, I say go for the PC version. If your PC is good enough it'll run a lot better on the PC than on the 360 and it'll look quite a bit better. You can also pick and choose servers, so if you don't like one just look for another and Favourite it if it's good.

And really, 24 people max just doesn't cut it for a Battlefield game. BC2 managed to make 32 work, but 24? I doubt it. At least not as well as 64, and if that's too much you can still look for, say, 48 people servers.

1: I've been kicked from servers for enough reasons to be wary of any server. Such reasons include, but are not limited to:

- Doing too good as Commander
- Defending myself as Commander
- Doing too well in the Tank
- Doing too well in the Walker
- Keeping the Transport chopper alive too long
- Not being in a clan
- Refusing to join a clan
- Single-handedly destroying a Titan
- Etc.
Are you sure that those assholes would migrate to this one too?

2: I never counts mods as a "positive". User generated content generally breaks down as such:

96% Absolute, mind-blowing garbage
3% Decent
1% Actually worthwhile, enjoyable or helpful content
And often that 1% is still surpassed in every way by developer content.
This is the most ballsy half baked argument I have ever heard.
Mods are supposed to improve the gameplay, not completely change the game into something new.
But for a total conversion that is actually better than original, see Nehrim

4: I say "silence" because at least on 360 I can Party Chat with those 4 people while I play, whereas on PC there will be no one.
Wait what? Are you sure? Are you sure that the everyone you would be playing the game with is either going to be a mute or asshole? I mean its only fair to generalize a community of a game which is going to sell 3 million copies *minimum*.

Paragon Fury said:
5: I say the PC community is terrible because they are exactly the same as the console community; except they try to hide it beneath a facade of superiority and deny it.
Way to generalize there. I can say that you are a fratboy that would throw his copy of battle field after playing it for a second and start playing call of duty/halo instead. See what I did there?

Intel i7 @3.20GHz CPU
12GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series 1GB RAM x2
1TB HDD

Thats most of the important stuff.

Like I said, I'm sure it will run. But I'm not sure if it will be significantly better.

I could say it, and then it wouldn't be true. And I've had the same thing said to me about more than one game; Oblivion, Crysis 2, Fallout 3/NV it didn't turn out to be true then either. At best it was a moderate improvement on my computer, not this mind-blowing-ly amazing transformation.

It all depends on how sensitive your eyes are i suppose. Some people say they can see the difference between 100fps and 120fps, i cant tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps. But either way your computer will be able to max it out or at the very least have it 95% maxed out.

It sounds like you don't notice the difference between graphics that much (which isn't and insult, more of a blessing) and you don't care about modding, so just go with the platform you enjoy more. Don't over complicated it for yourself.

Hah, don't worry, it will run significantly better. That's a top of the bill PC right there. I've got an AMD PhenomX4 965 3.2 Ghz, 4GB RAM and a Radeon HD 6870, and the only game that doesn't run completely smooth with everything maxed out is Metro 2033. BC2 runs beautifully, and if DICE is to be believed, BF3 should too then. And your PC is even better than mine. You'll be more than fine.

As for how much an improvement, well I'd say a more stable framerate (I've had more than one 360 and PS3 game that still took nosedives below 30FPS) judging by your computer and better graphics on all fronts. It all depends on what you expect when you say "significant", as I found New Vegas and Bad Company 2 incredibly significant upgrades over the console versions, PS3 in my case.

That together with the increased player count, dedicated servers (this one matters so much), easier access to DLC and most probably a longer game lifespan makes the PC version a clear winner.

A few corrections. In caps so you can see them. I am not shouting, honest

I've come to an impass recently. I'm without a doubt going to get Battlefield 3. However, what I can't decide is what platform to get it for.

I'm stuck between getting it for my PC or my 360. I've gone through the pros and cons of each, and I can't really decide a winner. Here is the abbreviated list:

Xbox 360

+ I play my 360 A LOT more than my PC
+ 360 version looks fairly comparable to PC version so far in terms of graphics and gameplay DICE THEMSELVES SAY THAT THE CONSOLE GRAPHICS WILL HAVE TO BE CUT DOWN IN COMPARISON TO PC. WHICH MAKES SENSE WHEN XBOX VER IS DIRECTX9 AND PC VERSION (IF YOU HAVE A RECENT PC) IS DIRECTX 11
+ I prefer the joypad for shooters YOU CAN USE YOUR 360 JOYPAD ON THE PC FOR THIS GAME, YOU JUST MAY MISS AUTO AIM WHEN PLAYING ON-LINE.
+ I'll at least be able to talk to people while I play single player and am in a Squad. NOT XBOX UNIQUE, SEE BELOW.
+ I've played the last 2 BF games (Bad Company 1+2) on the 360
+ Minor Bonus: A stack of new achievements to pad my Gamerscore with

- Only 24 people on much larger maps than BC1 or 2
- DLC and patches likely to be BS-ier because of Microsoft
- No one to play with
- Will probably die out faster than PC
- DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE PC GAMES TEND TO BE CHEAPER THAN CONSOLE DUE TO PUBLISHERS HAVING TO PAY A LICENCE FEE TO MICROSOFT.

PC

+ With my brand new gaming PC I might actually get better performance out of the game than on 360 for once. GAME PROGRAMMED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT PC HARDWARE CAN DO TODAY VS GAME PROGRAMMED TO RUN ON 6 YEAR OLD HARDWARE. YOU DO THE MATH....
+ I've played all the other BF games on PC
+ 64 player battles, larger maps
+ DLC and patches likely to faster, cheaper
+ Despite all claims, DICE clearly seems to be paying more attention to PC than console. BF GAMES HAVE ALWAYS SOLD QUITE WELL ON PC. IN FACT IF YOU CHECK OUT THE STATS PC IS JUST BEHIND XBOX IN TERMS OF SALES FOR THIS ONE TITLE AND AHEAD OF PS3. DICE KNOWS WHERE THERE MARKET IS. APART FOR STEAM DECISIONS THAT IS....

- Likely to be few good 64 servers
- 64 players unlikely to much better than in previous BFs, where maps still often felt empty and the pace slow
- Terrible PC community
- Play in complete silence in both single and multiplayer. YOU CAN USE TEAMSPEAK, VENTRILO AND OTHER SERVICES TO FILL THIS IN. BF SINCE VER TO HAS HAD PUSH TO TALK NATIVELY IN THE GAME, BUT MOST USE THE SERVICES I MENTIONED BEFORE TO DO THIS. I JUST GET MY FRIEND I AM PLAYING WITH INTO A SKYPE CONFERENCE CALL.

So I really can't make up my mind here......

I would respond, more thoroughly, but I accidentally clicked the "Spinning Button" , which means now I have the Rage and the dizziness for 24 hours.

wow, I'm really shocked to see PC dominating. I love PC gaming and have always considered it the best platform for most genres, and I love to see others still feel the same.

I'm pulling the "Not gunna get it card" Simply because I'll have GoW3, Space Marine, MW3 and Skyrim, not to mention Qlimax and so on. If you need to get it on 1, you seem more inclined for Xbox.

PC but just a question. Where are you playing the game from? America or Europe because I can offer the names of two clans who have quite a good rule set and decent enough members who are always active on the voip for either.

You forget one huge PC advantage, the awesome modding community, which has produced some completely amazing mods. (see Project Reality)
BF3 won't have mods because DICE thinks that it's too "advanced",and any other way will be illegal.

OT:I'm pretty sure it'll run better on your PC, and "microsoft gave everyone microphones" you know that you can also mute them?
